First time in Armenia: Soviet paradise, dogs, Russian language and coffee
My time in Georgia is up, to renew it I decided to go to another Soviet country. In this video we will go to Yerevan, Armenia. As always, I will drink coffee, pat cats and dogs, hate Russia and use humour to cope. So let's explore the streets of Erevan and see what we will find!

Armenia is a landlocked country in the Armenian Highlands of West Asia. It is a part of the Caucasus region and is bordered by Turkey to the west, Georgia to the north and Azerbaijan to the east, and Iran and the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan to the south. Yerevan is the capital, largest city and financial center. Modern Armenia comprises only a small portion of ancient Armenia, one of the world’s oldest centres of civilization. At its height, Armenia extended from the south-central Black Sea coast to the Caspian Sea and from the Mediterranean Sea to Lake Urmia in present-day Iran. Ancient Armenia was subjected to constant foreign incursions, finally losing its autonomy in the 14th century CE. The centuries-long rule of Ottoman and Persian conquerors imperiled the very existence of the Armenian people. Eastern Armenia was annexed by Russia during the 19th century, while western Armenia remained under Ottoman rule, and in 1894-96 and 1915 the Ottoman government perpetrated systematic massacres and forced deportations of Armenians. The portion of Armenia lying within the former Russian Empire declared independence on May 28, 1918, but in 1920 it was invaded by forces from Turkey and Soviet Russia. The Soviet Republic of Armenia was established on November 29, 1920; in 1922 Armenia became part of the Transcaucasian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic; and in 1936 this republic was dissolved and Armenia became a constituent (union) republic of the Soviet Union. Armenia declared sovereignty on August 23, 1990, and independence on September 23, 1991.

What a treat to find a new video from you. I'm glad to see that you're getting to go places.
Thank you for this little tour of Armenia. I'm an American and kind of pathetically these were really the first images from Armenia I'm aware of seeing. I enjoyed that and your commentary. Also was curious about the numbers of seemingly homeless cats and dogs rather peacefully wandering the streets. Best of luck to you in all your endeavors.

I'm not so sure that these are "homeless" cats and dogs because they may just be community-owned Socialist cats and dogs with multiple castles and palaces to retire to in which they spend parts of their time getting a backrub here, a bone there, etc. My son's cat was apparently such a community cat. (owning multiple humans)

Ahhhh, Socialist cats and dogs. That is the perfect clarifying answer. Greatly appreciated and thank you.
Good to see you're still with us Alena 👍🏻💜
Thank you for sharing and for all the pets! Glad to see you back again.
Dogs usually know a good person when they meet one, that's why they liked you. Love your videos, your English is great and your sense of humor is as well.
It always makes me happy to see your face and the quick moment of Natasha ! I'm sending positive vibes for you both from Connecticut U.S.A. Peace !
Heyyyy great video! I love your ironic observations about stray dogs & cats, and hanging garden cultural exhibits and strange food and coffee. Please make some more short chilled out relaxing city vids like this when you get back to Georgia. You’re brave and strong to leave Russia and make a new life for yourself at such a young age. Peace.
I love your sense of humor! Great vid. ❤
It's not easy to look depressed on a swing, but wow, she really pulled it off. Still living up to her name, even when it looks like she might be having fun.

Maybe she's thinking of Russia where swings seem to be quite common. Swings were time-shared in the district I grew up in: 100 cycles of swinging for each kid waiting in line. I was stymied because it was more like a wriggle to me: nothing to push against ! 😂 Here's why I appreciate having a Big Brother: push, push, more, more, higher !
Hey, thanks for sharing your visit to Armenia in the way that you do. Somehow it is comforting - especially petting all the dogs and cats and just chillin’ on the swings and random shots and thoughts of common things. It just all feels peaceful.
Great video👍thank you for sharing🌻
Love your videos keep em coming! Stay healthy and safe!
Hi dear! It's nice and refreshing to see your latest video. You are so young and brave. I can only imagine all these new experiences under such circumstances. I came to America when I was 19 and it was an adventure. Stay strong, keep updating us. It's always great to hear from you !

omg the food in armenia looks so good. thank you for the tiny coffee tour, and i hope you get to expand its geography! there are some really good coffee places here in seattle! im just sayin'. ;)
I really enjoyed your video. I'd love to have some Armenian cognac. You're very funny and Natasha appeared to be pleased to be in your video. Thank you. Cheers.
Your English is very good 😀I loved all of the parks in Yerevan. One of my favorite is Vardanyan park. I am planning to visit Armenia in a few months then I want to spend a few days in Georgia.
Great to see you do a video. Next time Get a guide or friend to drive to some of the incredibly interesting sights in this country outside yerevan. Done it twice . Some Norwegian goes to Armenia Mountain hotel every year as its nice location . I preferred the medieval fortress ruins and the ancient religious sights . Some pre Christian too. Best of luck,
Nice to see you again. "Seasoned traveller", lol Your sense of humour is very good.
Good to see another video DR
Hi Alena!🎉 I enjoy your ‘ I just drank some coffee’ vibe. You also have a great eye for color. That Natasha’I’m not here’ glance was funny.😂 As always ; great video, & hope to see the next one, soon.
Thid is a re-release 🤔 Good to see you again 🌹🙂
It looks so warm for December!
Your English is exceptional. Near fluency. May you live in warmth and peace.
I love your videos. You should be the host of a regular TV show.
Thanks for giving a glimpse of Yerevan. Your short vacation seemed quite chilled, which is great. I'll now remember Armenia as a place to perhaps visit one day.
Thank you for your time in Armenia. Great shots of the hanging gardens. I guess we do not or cannot understand how it is to be a stateless person even if it by choice. Keep going, things will get better even if it takes time. Thanks again.
Good to see you back
Great experience! I enjoyed the video very much but I was really impressed to see how many stray dogs there are even in Armenia! Anyway this country is so beautiful and it was worth a visit. Thanks a lot. Your English is fantastic❤

I suspect that these so-called "stray" dogs are actually living closer to the lifestyle of their ancestors. They probably serve as community sentinels in mountainous areas such as the Caucasus. My first baby picture taken with a companion was with a completely black 🐕nobody and everybody owned. We were living in a garrison shantytown by Phoenix Creek under a mountain range.
With a personal cameraperson, what a professional production!
Beautiful ❤ Armenia nice vlog 🎉 watching fr Jamaica 🏖️
Curious to see how Armenia celebrates Christmas. It's a Christian country so I'm assuming they have it. Maybe it's even better than in the West. All the best to you in your new country and merry X-mas already ^_^ 🎄

We celebrate Christmas on January 6. It is a religious holiday with no gifts. Christmas morning is spent at the church and the evening will be all about big family gatherings and dinner❤❤❤

Watching your videos is addictive . more videos should come
Nice to see tyou again, Armenia looks nice and I see you have your friend with you nice. Enjoy.
What a nice and entertaining Intro for a vlog!! 😗- a depressed Turkish guy
Thank you for sharing.
I loved your video in Armenia it was really cool I had never seen this place before and being my favourite depressed Russian I remember when you left and I often wonder how you are doing the 3 of you left yes to go to Georgia so I was pleased to see you are ok! Your English is amazing too I wish I could talk Russian like you speak English! You should become a translator you could do it I think! Love and respect always David Porter❤️❤️🐈⬛
Why are these Armenian street-living dogs so chill and friendly? Street dogs in other countries have a reputation of being aggressive and dangerous... Is it the Armenian people who are friendly to the dogs and treat them well? There is maybe a Life lesson in that... 🙂

I believe that it's mostly due to societal culture influencing their dogs. These are probably community dogs owned by nobody as well as everybody. The capitalist dogs are far more territorial and bark at strangers (who are nearly everybody not in their small friend-circle).
Nice to see you again, I wonder where you had been.
Thanks for the tour. I put the video speed up to 1.5 and then your English speaking flows along nicely at a good cadence that sounds more fluent.

Hello Alena, love your channel and your videos. Hope things are going OK for you. Peace and love from New Hampshire, U.S.A.
I love this channel her depressed life makes my life ever more depressed.. but I'm surprised she doesn't like cognac as alcohol is a depressant ..
A very interesting video, show us more !
Your sense of humor is phenomenal...i liked the community post "to cheer up go outside..." I thought Azerbaijan was the russian enclave....i was never good with geography .
...... nice to see you, my best wishes to both of you....
You’re such a sweetheart ❤️
You keep on smiling like that you're gonna bring this channel into disrepute. And that just might be a very good thing. The dry humour still cracks me up though.
Happy to see you are safe and well and still have that sense of humor that l enjoy. Why do the dogs have tags on thier ears... "Always a good day when you can pet a dog". I hope you make a Holiday post , it would be nice , thank you and stay safe.
Hi Alena, great video. I would have done all the same things you did: drink coffee, visit restaurants, buy books, and play with the cats and dogs.😀
Try to video more. I like your show and I like seeing the places that you travel.
Travel is an educational activity. Armenia looks very civilized. I envy your youth and ability to be adventurous. Thanks for this.
Glad things are still going well for you and Natasha! Please stay safe over there! Wish you could come to America and see my floofy poochies!
Fun video. Stay safe!
..you have less 'crunch' in your voice, depra is kind a fading away....veri gud😋
