Wife here..Love Love Love this band.!!.Was fortunate enough to see them in concert a couple of years ago...I truly think they were one of the most talented "Hair Bands".."Still of the Night".."Slow and Easy"..Bangers..Thanks for the great selection of picks!!
It's funny to watch BJ go from getting a feel for the song to totally feeling it. Funny because that was probably how I reacted when I first heard it.
One of best memories of being a teenager revolves around this song.. I grew in a small lake town in South Eastern Oklahoma. Lake Eufaula!! Anyway my friends brother bought a black jeep Wrangler, on 4th of July and we piled in and just blasted this song will cruising the lake. That night just me feel so alive.. Wonderful weekend. 30+ yrs ago. Lok
Y’all gotta try “Still of the Night”! The vocals are fire and the instrumentals are amazing!

Whitesnake "Still of the night". Original video ❤️❤️❤️❤️
David Coverband (Robert Plant's name) sang for Deep Purple, White Snake, and even worked with Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin. White Snake was a staple on radio in the 80s with a string of hits. This being one of them.

Hope you enjoy it. I saw whitesnake a few weeks ago with Europe and foreigner.
I first discovered this as a kid in early 2000s on VH1 classics. I was blown away. the power ballads of the 80's really made me fall in love with rock then I discovered the earlier rocknroll stuff because 80s guys were influenced by the black rocknroll artists of the 50's and 60's
THIS IS THE SOUNDS of 80s HAIR METAL !!!!😁
One of my favorite songs from them. "Is This Love" is another favorite of mine and in my dreams that's one of the songs I'll be singing to my huge crush :D
This was an 80's banger with heavy rotation on MTV.
One of the bands I listened to growing up in the 1980's.
I could see you were feeling it. These are lyrics that everyone can identify with. Everyone had a dream at some point. And, that journey can be a lonely one. (What we do in the dark is what brings us into the light.) Plus, the instruments really bring it home.
It is a great song. Check out the original video. It is him and his wife (at that time) in the video. She was a model.
BJ's exactly right I feel the same like a Drifter I was born to be alone hit the chord with everybody when you're not feeling so good in life. Also when they first did this song A long time ago he said hobo instead of Drifter just a little old-fashioned news therefore you have a great day y'all love you.
This song was originally written and recorded in the 70's. Whitesnake rereleased it and made a video for it in '87.
David Coverdale, the lead singer, was in Deep Purple from 1974-76 and sang the song Burn that y'all did a reaction to. In fact, after Deep Purple hung it up temporarily in 1976, Coverdale formed Whitesnake and for several years, former Purple members Ian Paice (drums) and Jon Lord (keyboard) we're also in Whitesnake.
Whitesnake are my all time favourite band....By the way, the meaning behind the song is the failure of David Coverdale's first marriage. I'd recommend a lot of other song's of there's that a lot of people don't mention, Rough an' ready, Wine women an' song, Judgement day, Sailing ships, Blindman, Ain't gonna cry no more, Take me with you, Get up, One of these days, Hot stuff, All for love.
OMG 😳....... That was my class song in high school. I graduated back in 1988.
Lead Guitar: John Sykes the Legend and Adrian Vandenberg the Flying Dutchman ! This was Adrian's composition (So far I know but he couldn't play during the recording session since he broken his hand) but Sykes had to play the solo. Drums: Tommy Aldridge the beast (he played with Ozzy Osbourne as well).
@jasfan8247
2 жыл бұрын
The song was written with Bernie Marsden, who played in Snake until 82. The song was recorded also in that year. The hit version is of 1987 with Sykes. Guitar solo by Adrian. Adrian came on the tour after Sykes got sacked. Adrian was injured for the next record. 1989 Slip o t tongue. Steve Vai played on the recording. Aldridge did not play on 1987. On tour was Carmine Appice after Aynsley Dunbar was fired also. The tour also had Vivian Campbell ex-Dio on guitar....and on and on it goes! Haha
"STILL OF THE NIGHT", "SLOW AND EASY".....!
I know the both of you aren’t that old but I love how you play songs that take me back to my teens and early 20’s. Life goes by so fast but great music never gets old
Guitarist John Sykes created the rich driving guitar sound that finally put Whitesnake on the map after years of muddling about musically. That rich driving rhythm is iconic. You should check out some Blue Murder, the band he started after he and Whitesnake parted ways. Lots of good classic John Sykes genius in it.
Wow! This takes me back to N California in the 80s, and a special but brief relationship. - - "I'm just another heart in need of rescue / Waiting on love's sweet charity."

All time classic, across the world. Awesome voice.
Good selection, love this song!
Just soo good!! Feelgood stuff!
Here I Go Again and Crying In The Rain first released on Saints & Sinners from 1982. It could only be bought in the US as Special Import for many years. Whitesnake later re-released both songs on the Whitesnake album from 1987. The original was more bluesy and the 1987 more metal. Guitarist John Sykes on the 1987 release didn't want to do the solo for Here I Go Again so it was done by Adrian Vandenburgh. Sykes played on the rest of the album. There was of course the case of Coverdale singing Hobo on the original and Drifter on the 1987 release. I misheard Hobo for something else. Perhaps why he changed it. Personally I prefer the more early bluesy albums like Love Hunter and Saints & Sinners. Saw the headlining with Ozzy Osbourne opening back in 1984
I still see Tawney Kitaen when I hear this. I hope she is at peace.
Awesome in concert live yeah, good review yay 🎸🎤🥁🤘😎👍
Loved Whitesnake have seen them live on stage 2 weeks ago Great Band But it was DC’s farewell tour
Saw them at the Texxas Jam in Dallas the first time. They were good live. Yes, Texxas Jam has 2 X's, at least back then it did.
This song was a remake from them. Originally, it was released as a less harder song in 1982.
It’s about being tortured to make music in the R.E.M sleep. “The lonely street of dreams” Donald Marshall is the drifter (ghost writer) it sounds like a happy song but it’s deeper then what your understanding

Fun Fact: The original lyrics to this song were "like a hobo I was born to walk alone" and they eventually changed it to drifter. Hobo and nobody cared about the song, change one word to drifter and its a hit, lol. Great reaction!! 🙂

They changed way more than 1 word. The whole tempo is changed. It changed from a blues rock song to an 80s production value styled hard rock song. Layers of harmonies that the original didn't have.

I saw these guys back in the 80's with the band Great White. Wasn't really my thing, but well, you gotta make your woman happy. Anyway, it ended up being a really good show and David Coverdale was on fire vocally. You mentioned the drums and I believe it was Tommy Aldridge that was playing for them at that time, and he's an incredible drummer. He played with Ozzy too, during his Randy Rhodes days.
@DavidLender
2 жыл бұрын
Tommy Aldridge is a beast on the drums and I love him! But he wasn't the drummer who recorded the album. I believe that was Aynsley Dunbar. The studio musicians were not the ones that he toured with for that album. He put a new group together. I think Tommy just kills it, though. The 87 album also had Neil Murray on bass and John Sykes on guitar.
