Zombie was written after the IRA detonated two bombs in the English town of Warrington on a Saturday afternoon in March 1993. The bombs were hidden in litter bins near a shopping centre and killed two children, three-year-old Jonathan Ball and Tim Parry (12), and injured 54 people. Dolores O'Riordan was doing a style of Irish singing called keening which is used at funerals. Please do linger, dreams and ode to my family. Rip Dolores.

The 25 years written on the wall was because it was the 25th year anniversary of when the latest IRA resistance fighting began. 25 years of ongoing bombings. Shortly after the song dropped, the IRA and UK came to a ceasefire agreement and later negotiated for Ireland to have some more independence and own governance. Was then end of the IRA

Fun fact, after Dolores wrote this piece of art and presented it to her bandmates, she asked the drummer, "Please, can you hit the drums real hard?" I think he did a good job. That mourning guitar, drums like gunshots... awesome art. RIP "Rose of Ireland"

Zombie was written due to the atrocities caused by the war in the north of Ireland, where Britain kept the Northern counties while the remaining Irish counties got it's freedom. Many innocent humans were murdered on both sides. This song was written at a time when Dolores struggled with the pointless loss of innocent souls and did something about it, hence this song was written as a plea to humanity to stop the bloodshed

I'm Scottish and lived in Mainland Britain during The Troubles and it was not uncommon to go shopping to a large city like Glasgow and have to exit the shop cause of bomb scares. I live 20 miles from from Glasgow and can remember this happening frequently during the early 80's. I don't remember being really scared because it became normalised. I also have Irish heritage so this song has always gone deep with me. RIP Delores!❤💔❤

The Troubles a conflict in Northern Ireland from late 60’s to late 90’s between IRA -Irish Republican Army waging armed campaigns to end British rule. This was written by Dolores O’Riordan in response to an IRA bombing in Warrington England during Mother’s Day. An explosive detonated in a trash can injuring dozens killing Jonathan Ball age 3 on the scene and Tim Parry age 12 from head injuries suffered from the blast.

"Zombie" was written by band member Dolores O'Riordan and is about the conflicts in Northern Ireland during the Northern Ireland conflict in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The lyrics address the pain and frustration of ongoing violence and conflict, particularly the 1993 Warrington bombing in which two children were killed. The refrain "Zombie, zombie, zombie" refers metaphorically to the thoughtlessness and willingness to use violence shown by the parties to the conflict in Northern Ireland. Overall, "Zombie" is a powerful and emotional song that critically reflects on the destruction caused by the conflict in Northern Ireland and is a call for peace and change.

There are major conflicts between the two parties about how Northern Ireland should be governed politically. The Protestants believe that Northern Ireland should be part of the United Kingdom, but many Catholics perceive the British rule as an occupying power. the Troubles, violent sectarian conflict from about 1968 to 1998 in Northern Ireland between the overwhelmingly Protestant unionists (loyalists), who desired the province to remain part of the United Kingdom, and the overwhelmingly Roman Catholic nationalists (republicans), who wanted Northern Ireland to become part of the republic of Ireland. I worked in London from 1974 to 2002, IRA bombs got close to getting me on 3 occasions and a further time in Belfast. Nobody wins and a lot of innocent non-combatants died in those terrifying years in Northern Ireland and mainland Britain
