If I may, there is another metal-ish band I've been listening to called Cellar Darling which also features a Hurdy Gurdy (as well as a flute and prominent piano). The track in particular is "Insomnia" and the female singer Anna Murphy is pretty darn good. Something you may enjoy.

If I may as well, I'd like to recommend the female-fronted Norwegian Folk Rock/Metal band Bergtatt whose hurdy-gurdy player also plays another traditional instrument called Nyckelharpa (that's the Swedish word, in English it's called keyed fiddle). To hear and see him on both instruments, I'd recommend the videoclip of their concert at Barba Negra in Budapest, 2016, or just check their audioclip of "Huldra" (which also happens to be the song being played first in the aforementioned concert video). The Swedish Folk Rock bands Garmarna and Hedningarna were probably (among) the first to use a hurdy-gurdy when combining traditional/folk music and Rock in the first half of the nineties. Both bands also use other folk music-related instruments in their songs.

This really illustrates why metal is the biggest creative tent. They're joining classical, jazz, blues, and folk with metal providing the glue. It really provides the space for all of these excellent musicians to let their creativity run free. That's why they all are having such a great time.

With the creative output from Nightwish waning (every new album takes a year longer, if the pattern holds, the next is not due until 2026) it is time for the next generation to take over. Scardust really has a lot of potential, even their Nightwish covers with the live choir are amazing. Unfortunately, this is hard to get on tour profitably.

I love Noa's voice and the musicianship of the guys in Scardust is just next level. The A Cappella sounds from Noa and Hellscore are amazing but just as amazing when combined with instrumentation. In short, I haven't heard a bad piece of music from any combination of these folks. I just keep wanting to hear more and more. Thank you for the analysis..They are all greate musicians. Noa has an amazing voice and together with Patty you can hear the tight bond there is between these two best friends. I feel like I've been a tiny tiny little part of this music video.. The ring Patty is wearing, she got it from me 😊 ..As an lapidarist I've made the cabochone cut stone in that ring. It's green (of course) chalcedony ☺️ I'm so proud every time she's wearing it ..struggle not to burst in tears 🥹

Thank you! Today I learned what a hurdy gurdy is. I have always loved bagpipes in rock music, rare as it is. I love the fusion of modern hard rock with archaic instruments. In truth i just love rock that pushes the limits of crossover into other genaras, whether that be jazz, blues, rap/hip-hop, classical, traditional folk, or even avant guard (saw sonic youth a couple times in my own youth)

Are you open to suggestions based on what you just wrote? For more hurdy-gurdy, I recommend the female-fronted Norwegian Folk Metal/Rock band Bergtatt. The guy who plays the hurdy-gurdy sometimes also switches to another traditional instrument called Nyckelharpa (the national musical instrument of Sweden), which literally means "key harp" and is called "keyed fiddle" in English. There's a clip with a decent recording of a live concert they played in Budapest in 2016: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pKaXqtFsmsfJhZs.html The Swedish bands Garmarna and Hedningarna (the latter featured two Finnish female singers on several of their albums) already played a mixture of traditional folk music and rock in the middle of the nineties and both also included a hurdy-gurdy in many of their songs. You might also like the band Stolen Babies, whose female vocalist plays accordion, which I'd say is one of the most uncommon instruments in metal/rock. Their style is avant-garde-ish and doesn't really fit into any genre properly. Overall, I'd still consider their debut album "There Be Squabbles Ahead" metal, but there are many other influences as well. If you aren't already familiar with them, check out the videoclip of "Push Button" (with Tim Burton-esque visuals) and the audioclip "Filistata" (the latter might fit the description "circus metal", which has already been brought up in connection with this band or at least some of their songs).

What a great surprise from you to make a reaction video to my new favorite (symphonic) progressive metal band from Israel with stellar musicians and a vocal beast Noa Gruman, who: 1. makes her own stage outfits 2. writes the lyrics & co-composes the songs with her friend Orr Didi, who quite recently replaced the original bassist of the band & also plays bass in this music video 3. has served her two year military service with the Israeli armed forces 4. conducts the Hellscore metal A Cappella choir that has performed with bands like e.g. Therion, Ayreon & Amorphis both in studio & live 5. is a classically trained pianist & cellist, although she doesn't play these instruments with Scardust 6. has also been working with the Israeli opera as 1st soprano and also with Zubin Mehta 7. worked on her extreme vocals with Floor Jansen for two years online and has over an octave wider range (i.e. 4,5 octaves) than e.g. Floor Jansen, Simone Simons, Tarja Turunen & the late Whitney Houston. P.S. Noa also co-produced and edited this music video. And one of Noa's sisters plays the violin (on the right hand side of the male violin player) & the other (in red dress) sings in the choir. P.S.S. You also really should react to Noa's A Cappella version of Symphony X's "Paradise Lost" in which she makes all the sounds, even the birds.
