He was originally going to write an album about a cheating preacher but changed his mind. He decided just to react to the emotions around him. Fantastic song and lyrics from a Jewish man! I can see, feel, and hear the preacher's voice through the story. AMAZING!

Love Neil Diamond! Love his voice! He does not have a bad song.
I went to see Neil Diamond years ago with my 70 year old mom and my 13 year old niece. The whole audience was spread over the same 3 generations. I t was an experience I'll never forget.
My mom loved Neil Diamond! My dad took her to see him in Las Vegas when I was little . This one’s for mom!
I'm sitting here sobbing listening to this. My mom's birthday is coming up soon and I've been missing her so much since we lost her in 2010. She LOVED this song and was always singing it.

My mother (1947 - 2010... Had to take a closer look at your picture to see if you were my sister) was also a huge Neil fan and this was her favorite.
Have been a Neil fan for over fifty years. Have been to many of his concerts. Last one was his 50th Anniversary concert, which was cut short due to his diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. So glad I didn’t know that would be his last concert!🔥❤️💎
Neil writes 95% of the songs he sings! He is the master of love songs!🔥❤️💎
One can't go wrong with a Neil Diamond song, no matter what!! He's one of a kind - one of the greatest performer and a living legend!!

@@sunnystormy4973 I was 100% anti-Prince hard rocker in 1984. I went with friends who paid for the ticket and drugs. A couple hours later, Sheila E and Prince had totally changed my mind. That Purple Rain show was a Masterpiece.
👏👏👏👏YESSSSSS! FINALLY! I love this song and Neil Diamond! 'Forever in Blue Jeans' is how hubby and I are most comfortable in, those blue jeans! We live in the city, but we live a simple life. Amber, you hit the nail on the head with this song! I'm glad I had the opportunity to see Neil Damond in concert at the Forum in Los Angeles, he is such a showman on stage! I'm going to watch this reaction again! I loved it! ☮💕

This was my favorite song when I was a kid. I was this little six year old wandering around singing, "Money talks, but it can't sing and dance and it can't walk..."
I’ve been in love with him since I first heard “Sweet Caroline” in 1968 in the car with a guy I was dating (also named Neil) and I shouted, “WHO is that?” I have been to a number of his concerts over the years and there is an energy in his concerts that can’t be described, only felt. I went once to his concert in Los Angeles in 1988, a few months after my Mom died. I was in a huge depression and that concert just lifted me up so high, I hunted for last minute tickets a few nights later several rows from the front. I fell in love again!! ❤❤❤
The very first concert I ever went to was Neil Diamond at the age of 9. Money was tight for my parents, but after the Jazz Singer came out and my brother and I just fell in love with him, they surprised us with concert tickets. That memory is forever etched in my heart and soul. Unfortunately, by the time I could really afford concerts, his touring waned and I wasn’t able to see him in concert again. Just plain adore his music and it will always be on my playlists.

. . . “ By the time I could really afford concert tickets, his touring waned and I wasn’t able to see him in concert again “. A few facts for you to consider ‘blountlyspeaking’. You state that you saw Neil in concert for the first time after ‘The Jazz Singer’ was released - that would be late 1980, stateside. So, perhaps you saw Neil in ‘81 or ‘82?.. (which venue and actual date would be interesting to read) Then, about a decade or so later age about 19 or 20 when you could afford your own ticket’s you state that …” Neil’s touring had waned “ No it did not. It increased throughout the next 3 decades. Neil was the highest grossing ‘in concert’ performer of the 1990’s. I live in the U.K. and, for an example, he toured these islands and Europe in the following years listed: 1971, 72, 77, 84, 89, 92, 96, 99, 2002, 05, 08, 11, 15 and finally in 2017. Each ‘U.K & Europe’ tour would play, on average, about 30-35 concerts. And all of that is far away from his homeland market of North America, where he performed over 1,500 concerts from 1968-2017. Add to all of that far-reaching tours of Australia, New Zealand and even South Africa. You may wish to ‘re-frame’ your own particular ‘take’ on the actual reason why you did not attend more than just the single solitary concert. No truth whatsoever in your previously listed … ‘ reason why ‘. P.S. I have read on plenty of threads where people state … “ I always wanted to see him in concert - but never did “… “ Where in the continent of North America are you?..” And, very strangely, I never receive a reply-?!? So, I’ll ask you the same - only in the interest of…’the big picture’. You’re welcome .
You have only begun going down the rabbit hole of Neil Diamond!🔥❤️💎
Neil Diamond: love on the rocks, and hello again. You will fall in love with those two songs.
I was so young when Neil Diamond topped the charts but I will always remember him. In a world where so much is the same he is so recognizable.
Neil Diamonds signature song is "Sweet Caroline" so you need to get that one on your list. Another one you would both really like is "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show".

What would music history be without Neil Diamond

Pretty boring considering all the songs he wrote for artists other than himself! Part of the Brill Building he changed musical history.
I'm reminded of an episode of the Big Bang Theory. Howard and Amy are reluctantly travelling together and hating every minute of it. All attempts at conversation hit a dead end until Amy discovers Howard has a tape of Neil Diamond music. They put in the tape and have the time of their lives for the rest of the journey. Good music brings people together.
When Amber starts that side-to-side bopping, you know it's going on her playlist.
BROTHER LOVE'S TRAVELING SALVATION SHOW is a banger old fashion revival show great music great lyrics great message NEAL DIAMOND'S BEST
Great reaction. Cherry, Cherry should be next Neil reaction. Total banger!
King of Queens Doug Reverend in Blue Jeans. Whenever I hear different lyrics that what I call it. Good song.
As a 60s/70s guy, Neil Diamond was just another of a plethora of vocal icons! We (my peeps) had a tendency to overlook or take him for granted because he was viewed as more of an "entertainer" than a "rocker". As I aged and looked back on that time (a time when I was running too fast to take it all in), I learned to appreciate a host of those mega-talented guys who we failed to give what was properly due.
His voice is like velvet . Sweet Caroline definitely hun best
When this came out, I was a kid, and I thought he was singjng "Reverend Blue Jeans!" Somehow i made that fit with the rest of the lyrics...😂😂😂

I live down to earth folks. They were probably generous to others, as well. 🤍
Neil was asked what his first big purchase was when he made it big. He said he bought a huge stack of legal pads. He said he felt this was a luxury, because he had always written kyrics in scraps of paper, gum wrappers, napkins, etc. He said ge just loved looking at his big stack of legal tablets. He is so unassuming and humble.!🔥❤️💎
Definitely check out SWEET CAROLINE. A number one song along song in bars, at a party etc.
Ya'll NEED to watch SAVING SILVERMAN for movie night!! Features Neil's music and the man himself! Great overlooked flick!
Neil Diamond at his absolute best!!! Love this song.
I had this 45 as a kid. You should also check out my OTHER Neil Diamond 45 I had as a kid, "Love On The Rocks."
Neil is my favorite artist that's not considered a rock singer. I don't think I have a favorite song of his. But gun to my head id probably say America. It could b our national anthem far as I'm concerned. There's not a song of his I don't know the words to. He is like Jim Croce to me. I know all of his songs too. Neil is a legend.
Reverend Blue Jeans was always one of my favourite Neil Diamond songs
Neil Diamond is by far one of THE best songwriters and performers there’s ever been 👍❤️
My husband and I have been married for 43 years and this was our song when we were dating! We love his voice!
I'm a HUGE Neil Diamond fan. Have been all my life. Happy that I took my grand daughter (15yrs old) to his concert in 2015. She now loves him too !! Love the younger generations listening to and liking the oldies but goodies. And this is both our favorite song
Other greats of Neil…Morning Has Broken,Hallelujah,The Story of My Life,Hell,Yeah!
Neil Diamond is awesome! Here are a few of my favorite of his songs that I think you’d both like. Brother loves traveling salvation Soolaimon Hello Again Beautiful noise Shilo Brooklyn Roads
Play Me is a wonderful Neil ballad!
I saw Neil in concert in an arena and he was great. My friends and I sat in the nosebleed section but we had a blast! He is kid from Brooklyn who made it big!
Another vote for Brother Love!! Neil Diamond is such a classic. Thanks for the love.
A MUST see is the 1971 BBC show..."Neil Diamond talks about Brother Loves Traveling Salvation Show and then sings it". It will be one of your best reactions video...
I love love love Neil Diamond. Such a sexy voice. One of my favorites is from this same album. Remember me. It moves me every time I hear it. Also, there is something so relaxing just watching the two of you jam while you listen to the songs you react to.
Yes! You must listen to some of his songs in concert! He is amazing…can bring thousands into a sing a long! He is just ahhhhmazing!
In 2005 my family bought me two tickets to see Neil in concert. My daughter who was in her 20’s said she would go with me even she had to take a blanket and pillow to take a nap. The thought that she would go with me warmed my heart. He was not her favorite. She likes him now. But needless to said a hurricane called Katrina happened. So I never got to go. But I listen to him all the time.
My all-time favorite Beil Diamond song is "September Morn". Give that one a listen; you won't be disappointed.
Oh and for a sweet love song he is wonderful with Hello Again
……big hit on AM radio growing up in the 70’s (1978) 🔥🔥🔥❤️🔥🔥🔥
Saw Neil back in the 80's in Indianapolis and we get him to do 9 encores of this song - the last one he was standing and dancing on top of the Piano. He keep saying no more but the band would start playing it again. Tom Hensley was his piano player who was from Columbus Indiana and while he was in College he was a DJ on my home town radio station. The live version of this song is so much more fun than studio version. The song was written by Doug Rhone, his lead guitar player.
Turn on your Heart Light is a great one he wrote for his son after they saw E.T.

I LOVE that song ❤
Great song! Neil Is one of my favorite singer songwriters spanning many decades. I had so many of his records. He had tons of hit songs. "Cherry, Cherry", "Kentucky Woman", "Red Red Wine", "Solitary Man", "Sweet Caroline", "Holly Holy", "Song Sung Blue", "Longfellow Serenade", "Desirée", "I Am, I Said", "You Don't Bring Me Flowers". I was privileged to see him in concert twice. He was a great showman & his live performances were memorable.
Cracklin Rosie is my favorite song of his too this is my second. I saw him about 20 years ago one of the best shows I’ve seen.
Please react to Neil’s duet with Shirley Bassey….Play Me. Both have amazing voices and they are flawless. Neil was a guest on her Christmas show, wearing a red spangled outfit. The way they interacted…Shirley was asked if she fell in love with Neil. She said she fell in love with his Diamond necklace. You have GOT to see this…..ahhhhhhmazibg!🔥❤️💎
A very dear friend from back in my high school days absolutely loved Neil Diamond's music. I remember giving her this song on a 45. Every time I hear this song, now, it takes me back. I wonder if she plays it now and then, and it takes her back, too.
Neil's been around the industry for the better part of 60 years, and people still love him. That's an accomplishment!
I'm from Boston! Our favorite Neil Diamond song is "Sweet Caroline". It is sung at every Red Sox game. The Red Sox suck this year but we still love the song! ✌ 💖 🎶!

Desiree is a great Neil Diamond song!
Good Neil songs: The Last Picasso; Longfellow’s Serenade; and especially, If You Know What I Mean.
Excellent song! Neil is awesome and writes so many great songs. This one is a song that just feels relaxing. Nothing more American than blue jeans. I agree with Amber, Cracklin Rosie is my favorite Neil tune as well, but all of them run closely together.
ONE of my All Time favorite singers!!!!
Neil Diamond concerts were the best. He is amazing on stage. Everyone in the audience knows all the words to his songs and sing them at the top of their lungs. Go to the doctor Jordan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful Noise is one of my favorite Neil Diamond songs. I think you guys would really enjoy and appreciate
🎶 Neil Diamond "Song Sung Blue" has some special lyrics. One of his biggest hits. 👍
He started out just a song writer and when he'd sing the song to the different artists they said you need to be recording your own songs. Love his voice so much.
Have loved Neil Diamond for over fifty years. Cannot pick just one favorite!🔥❤️💎
"Forever in Blue Jeans" was Neil Diamond's 41st single (55 total) to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking @ #20 in 1979. It was the follow-up single after Neil & Barbra Streisand's #1 hit "You Don't Bring Me Flowers."

My fav Neil song is probably "Cherry Cherry." I recommend it! I also love "And the Grass Won't Pay No Mind," and "Solitary Man." Old school Neil from the sixties!
I had been to a Ted Nugent concert, the next day my Dad ask me to go see Neil Diamond, I was not excited. Then I had a concert experience like no other, Neil had the house lights turned on and the entire arena was dancing. It was the beginning of a love story. A great song, never a single, " Mothers and Daughters, Fathers and Sons" ! AMAZING SONG !!!!
This was my mother’s favourite Neil Diamond song ❤
I might be alone, but I think, going forward, when you play Neil, you should do the LIVE Versions. This song is a Prime example. The studio version, although awesome, sounds a little "Bubble Gummy", "pop rockish" (as evidenced by the way Jay sways his head back and forth). When you hear this song LIVE, IT ROCKS. He belts it out with Passion. Jay, you'll have the "Headbanger" reaction. A LOT of Neil Diamond's songs are pure Fire, when he does them LIVE. Either way, Neil is definitely top of the food chain.
I love Neil Diamond a lot, this may be my fave song from him
My all time Favorite Neil Diamond song
"Sweet Caroline at Pitt" 60,000 college football fans singing & dancing w/ Neil D. at Half Time = AWESOME!!!
