Yes, with the Charismatic Voice. I saw the whole video like 6 months ago, just amazing what he can do with his voice, and also that this does not damage his vocal chords! Will is also a very laid back person, not at all like the agressive singing he does.

That was a fun reaction. Thanks Rusty. Will's vocals are just insane, but he is a very cool person, just a big goofball, lol. Black metal, death metal , and deathcore. Some are calling it Blackened Deathcore. The throat camera video on The Charismatic Voice is just under an hour, that's from 2 years ago. The new one where they stick needles in him(The science Behind vocal distortion), is an hour and 10 minutes. You'll probably want to check those out on your own when you have time. As for more Lorna Shore, The Pain Remains trilogy, as others have already suggest is a popular choice. Sun/Eater is another good one.

Thanks, buddy. It was very interesting. It definitely feels more like a black metal track than death deathcore. Hovering over that line, but it's definitely impressive. I'm going to check out those videos. I'm curious to see what is happening with the vocal cords.

Your comments made me crack up. The way I describe this song is that a grizzly bear and mountain lion are fighting to the death, and halfway through, Gollum shows up and gets eaten. And no, absolutely NO effects of any kind on the vocals. Every bit of it is literally just Will doing his thing. He's got a lot of vocal one-takes on his own channel, and has even done covers of songs with clean vocals vs what he does with Lorna Shore, and even his clean voice is spectacular, especially on the heels of something like this when you're completely not expecting it. Check out his cover of Hypnosis by Sleep Token; it's a total 180 from this and it's mind boggling that he's got this kind of vocal range. The video where he gets his throat scoped is crazy; the doctor looking at his vocal cords literally said Will is a unicorn. The things he does with his vocal cords shouldn't even be possible; at some points, he's literally flipping them nearly completely upside down.

It's fair to mention that the industry standard is too layer vocals, especially with harsh vocals. The singer might do 3 takes off the same vocal part using different types and pitches of scream, to make the sound fuller and more powerful. Doesn't take away from the immense skill in display. And I use skill on purpose, because nobody is born being able to do this, it takes thousands upon thousands of hours of practice. That goes for the instruments as well.

There is so much to talk about with this band, they are incredible and if you like the music, I would definitely recommend checking out the '...and I return to nothingness' EP, followed by their latest album, 'Pain Remains' (which ends in the masterpiece of the Pain Remains trilogy). Will Ramos is an absolute beast of a man and has done 2 videos with the Charismatic Voice about the science behind harsh vocals; the first is a laryngoscopy where they put a camera down his throat and he blew the scientists' minds, and the second video is a more comprehensive set of tests that includes them putting needles in his throat and doing a functional MRI to see what is going on while he screams. Both are fascinating and absolutely worth the watch! It is insane to see what he can do, and even more impressive considering he also suffered with asthma when he was younger.

Will joined the band 2021 and this was the song used to introduce him as their new vocalist. It was written to show off his abilities and also as kind of a Fuck You to the people doubting that he would be a good replacement after they kicked out their previous vocalist. I personally prefer the other two songs on the EP Of the Abyss and the title track And I Return to Nothingness more more than this one. If you want my favorite Lorna Shore songs it is 1)Instrumental only version of Immortal (Immortal was their album before the EP came out, and gets overshadowed by the drama with their previous vocalist. I can't stand the previous singers voice, but I love everything else about the song.) 2)Apotheosis (from Pain Remains 3)Of the Abyss/And I Return to Nothingness tie

Will Ramos names the different types of harsh vocals he can do (pig squeal, goblin, etc). And he's got a nice (clean) singing voice too believe it or not. Lorna Shore - for me personally - is a bit too chaotic to enjoy. My understanding is that singing is more about breath control and mouth shapes then projection - you rely on the mic for that. Those that exhibit a lot of tension in many instances are not singing in a healthy way.

I disagree with Lorna Shore being too chaotic to enjoy. For me, everything flows perfectly. There are a lot of bands within the genre that are overdoing it for the sake of being heavy but the songwriting is bad. A lot of fanboys too dickriding on some other blackened deathcore bands as better than Lorna coz they are heavier. lol. I have read somewhere that bands like Mental Cruelty and Worm Shepherd or Disembodied Tyrant are better. lmao. When I listened to their stuff by album, clearly they are not in Lorna's level in terms of songwriting and composition.

Maybe it's my age, and you hear pitches differently when you get older. But play this for me even 5 years ago, and I'd have been crying for it to be turned off.
