I really am sorry to hear about your dad, I don’t say that because nobody gave you condolences, I truly mean that, my mom and my dad are literally my whole entire life…like my whole world man, they are my best friends, it chokes me up imagining someday I will be without them…I hope you have found some kind of peace.

Sitting down at out "table" in Cuba at a resort in a Goodwill Tour .. sitting with recording artists from 3 different bands having coffee and my good Bud asks "How old are ya now Bubba?" I replied "Rik; I'm one year passed expiration" Drummer from Doc Walker asks "WTF does that mean Bubba?" I replied "I never planned on making it passed 50; seriously! I work hard. I play hard. I'll die early." After a long pause with a bunch of boys absolutely stunned.. Rik says "piss off boys; I'm writing that country song!" Then Rik and I talked later for many hours about it later.. He and I have been close friends for nearly 25 years now.. He said "you always joked about this; heard it many times from you over the years.. but I didn't know you meant it" Live large. Love large. Every minute counts!

About a month ago now I was on leave between commands and spent that time at home with my parents. My bird dog Maggie May was thirteen years old and wasn't comfortable, she had a lot of health issues. It hurt so much because she was there for every significant moment in my life until then. I had to say goodbye to her, what was the closest thing to a sister i'll ever have, and then the next week fly out from my childhood home for what is probably the last time. It still hurts, but I can hope that I'll see her and everyone else on the other side.

So sorry about your loss. I too have wondered how you are getting so many grieving songs lately. I'm no better with my suggestions though. Chris Rupp (from Home Free) has a lovely song he wrote when he went solo "Moving On" you might like, but it's another sad one. I'd forgotten how good this one is and how much it makes me think of Mom. Take care and thank you.

My daughter seen a very old lady in her room. My daughter was three or four,,,?,,, and she talked to her. Delusional? No. She was awake and never brought it up. Graduated high school. While she was young, she said, she wanted to go back there, pointing up. I asked why.. very good support system here! She said, “everything is glowing white up there. And sounds.” I was blown away! I never preached religion on her. I have faith more than religion. To this day, my daughter is twenty! She won’t look at the book of bs. She isn’t scared of much. Has good people around her. She is pretty smart or maybe very smart, humble, cute, and that’s because of me! Everything else, is God wants her that way 😂
