JungKook’s position in BTS is the Main Vocalist. That doesn’t mean he’s the main singer. They do a good job of spreading the lyrics around. But he has a lot of responsibilities behind the scenes. He was 13 when he left home to become a trainee and 15 when BTS debuted. A lot of responsibility at such a young age. That’s why I get so defensive for him when solo fans of others are dismissive towards him. Actually him being the main vocalist does make him "the main singer", he's not the only singer of course, but apart of being the main vocalist, he records the vocal guides, does the background vocals, mostly always either starts the song or has the chorus or bridge, and he pretty much 95% of the time has the most lines.

When I first started listening to them in 2017 I couldn’t tell them apart but now after listening to them and all their different genres U can listen to any song and tell whose singing when! JungKook is main vocalist and he’s responsible for most of the ad libs you hear through out their songs! They have a song call Film Out! Jungkook is an amazing artist with a very promising career! I love him

Although BTS are of course highly skilled at blending different genres of music together, on this occasion that blend has nothing to do with Jungkook. This is a modern example of UK garage music whiich was popular in the 90's. It was referred to as UK garage to differentiate it from the original garage house music from the US. It was just as you described it, being a mix of house, hip hop, RnB and pop with other genres such as reggae thrown in. The most well known garage artist was Craig David, and this song is very much following in his footsteps. His musuc still stands up well today if you would like to listen to it. The other main garage act was the So Solid Crew which was much more gritty. Garage music has made a bit of a comeback just lately, with this song plus Love Like This from Zayn (ex One Direction) and Don't Say Love by Leigh Anne (ex Little Mix).

There’s nothing wrong with having a song that sounds like “cool western music” lol jungkook loves it and he’s always been a pop boy. His fav artists are literally western pop singers lmao. This being his debut song is no surprise. I agree his Korean tracks are superior but seven definitely isn’t “blah” otherwise it wouldn’t be doing so well in the charts and among GP.
