Not only is Jacob an brilliant singer with an incredible vocal range, but he plays piano, guitar, drums and numerous other instruments incredibly well. He's won several Grammys including one for a mind blowing version of Moon River. One of my favorites is his version of the Flintstones theme. His level of genius comes along once a century or less and we are fortunate to witness it, yet most people have never heard of him.

Saw him live this year, and it was the best show I’ve ever seen. So much energy, and not only the musicianship of the band was the top of the top, but also the singing was incredible: the arrangement of the microtonal modulations in the a cappella parts, and the pitch accuracy was so spot-on that harmonics would pop out, and they sounded like they were coming from the ceiling or balcony. I recommend seeing his live show whenever you can!

Hi Rosalie. I'm so glad you chose to react to Jacob Collier. I agree, he is a remarkable musician. His arrangements are quirky yet brilliant. The bell tones, harmonic riffs and modulating keys takes his listeners on a wild ride. I also believe in our interconnection to the universe. We get a glimpse of the divine in the order in chaos, harmony from noise and from loves beauty over hate. To you and all your followers Merry Christmas and a Happy Peaceful New Year!

Wonderful reaction, Rosalie. I too have been following Jacob on Instagram and tearing up every time he posts a video of the audience choir. What it must feel to be in that room, singing together. If you read music, June Lee has a video of this arrangement that has the transcription of what Jacob is doing. It's fascinating. There is another video he did for Wired that I think you would enjoy, entitled "Jacob Collier Plays the Same Song in 18 Increasingly Complex Emotions".

Jacob sometimes does live streams where he goes into detail into the Logic Session for one of his songs. He did one for The Christmas Song. It is UNBELIEVEABLE! kzread.info/dash/bejne/dIyh08iDmNiyoto.html

Thank you for that lovely, loving reaction to this beautiful Jacob rendition. Other than your remark about a "good cigar" I totally agreed with every single thing you said (I just hate cigar smoke so no shade on you). Your reaction was delightful and yeah, why doesn't Jacob have a 100 million subs? Jacob does so many incredible things and one of them is that he seems to know how to stroke all our emotional strings. His songs are just awash with the sounds that cause us to feel what he's performing. It's quite amazing really. Truly an old soul. Thank you again for this thoughtful, generous reaction. I'm so glad I stumbled onto it. Best wishes for your health and happiness.

Thank you for watching and your comment :) I agree. He is so unique and talented. I don’t smoke cigars much ever but if I indulge once in a rare blue moon I enjoy it. But I’m sure there are many better comparisons :)

@@rosalieelliottofficial ±My dad always smoked cigars. As a little kid I bugged him constantly to let me try one. Finally after endless appeals he picked me up, put me on his lap and put his cigar in my mouth. He then said "Now breathe in deeply." After I stopped gagging I've never wanted to smoke again (real good thing in retrospect). Anyways that was 65 years ago and I still can't stand even a hint of cigar smoke. TMI I know but have a Merry Christmas.

As an intro to my comment😉: nice new channel intro - i likei t!,👏💛 Now to the song - the harmonies he does are out of this world! Imagine the amount of time it must have taken him to arrange this and put it all together. Even when you are as gifted as he obviously is this must've been a crazy amount of work. I'm a sucker for harmonies too. That's what ultimately defines feelgood music for me. The music itself may come as hard as it gets - if there are certain harmonic structures, I don't care. Although on one or two occasions in the song I think he overdid it a bit. I would describe it as too much tonal information for me to process properly. Btw: the word you were looking for, Rosalie, is velvet. He has a velvety, soothing tone in his voice.

You do great reactions! I was happy to quickly find one of yours for Jacob. I just today 'stumbled' upon this guy. I listened to a few of his pieces... and subscribed. I was curious what reactors might think. I saw ours right away. This piece is so many things. Weird? Different? Complex? Mind-blowing? Full of harmonies that are unique? Layer upon layer of texture? Yes to all. (look up the word 'mellifluous') I think that might work for this guy. I agree with everything you said. This guy is amazing! So was your reaction!
