Oh what a wonderful reaction, so worth the wait. It's just a pleasure getting to share music-and specifically here-Jacob's music with others. As to other Christmas music I would suggest "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" (ft. Tori Kelly) - Jacob Collier. Jacob helped finance his first Album by a series he called HarmU (like I'll harmonize with you). People would send 30 seconds or so of them singing or playing anything and everything. Jacob then would create these amazing accompaniments to whatever they had sent. I sort of suspect-due to Tori recording this on a phone-that Jacob might have done the same thing here. Tori sent him her own beautiful rendition of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and then Jacob created the accompaniment. It's an educated guess but however it really is a delight and Tori's singing is wonderful.

another amazing Christmas one by him is 'in the bleak midwinter'. it's the song where he first starts exploring microtonal pitches and it would be amazing if you reacted to it!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I loved your reaction :-) I just want to genuinely thank you for taking what your audience suggests and actually listening to them because not a lot of reactors do this. From what I can hear, it sounds like Jacob jumps around with the tuning of his chords. Since standard tuning nowadays is A=440hz anything that we hear that isn't tuned that way sounds new. Jacob plays around with this and jumps around with the tuning of the song to A=432hz to A=453hz. He also sometimes uses something called just intonation compared to normal equal temperament. Another thing you may not have noticed is that he uses a lot of microtonality in this song, which are essentially the notes between notes and you can hear it in the run at around 5:14 in the time stamp of your video and there's also microtonal keys. Anyways I'm getting too much into it lol. Jacob has been described as making musician's music - music meant for musicians - and I think that is why he has such a dedicated fan base that enjoys his music so much, so I am glad to see someone who just enjoys music generally reacting to him. I am really looking forward to the Moon River reaction because I legitimately cried the first time I heard it.

I love your reaction. So thoughtful and genuine. Very nice comments. I'm so looking forward to hearing your reaction to "Moon River". It's been a kind of rocky start to the new year what with the pandemic and so many other things. We could really use "Moon River" and your no doubt excellent reaction. Thanks very much.

You didn't even mention the amazing videography he did, that makes it as fantastic to see as to hear. Last night I discovered an amazing KZread channel. You need to react to some of the Google Translate Sings covers. Speaking of Christmas Lindsey Sterling's "Your a Mean One Mr.Grinch" is truly spectacular. She found a way to take all her favorite things, violin dance dressing-up, and combine them in incredible ways. She doesn't sing that I've seen, but she often invites great artists to join her in her world/s, many that you know very well. I was looking forward to seeing Sohyang and then they go and block it.☹️ You should watch her cover of "Never Enough" where she does a three part harmony with herself. Commentary is off for the Sohyang video but I could see your message.

I may be wrong, I'm new to Jacob. But I think he might use pitch shifting to hit all of those notes. If he's not, he's got an impressive range 😂

I've only done a couple of songs. I do believe he's probably using some type of pitch control but it's still pretty impressive all together

He's not using pitch shifting. Jacob believes that copying tracks and electronically adjusting them (things of that kind) can sort of take the life out of the music and even deaden it. He has a 4 octave range and absolutely to the cent perfect pitch. Jacob is at the forefront of reimagining the fields of harmony and music theory.

@@robote7679 Jacob has used pitch shifting many times. Check out some of his music breakdowns. If he can't reach the note or sings a few cents off he will adjust it. Though I believe he does try to avoid using it too much.
