Holding a loveones hand as they pass is simultaneously one of the most painful and yet cherished moments of my life. It is impossible to truly express the dichotomy of my emotions on that moment. I can only express my sympathy for your loss and my happiness that her loved ones were there for her at the end of her journey.

I felt this song deeply, I am not sure if you remember, but June 7, 2022 my wife of 23 years and love of my life for 25 passed away. Kerri was fighting health issues her whole life with Spina-Bifida, and the last 9 months of her life she was dealing with conditions the doctors couldn't figure out. We talked everyday either on the phone or when I was able to see her in the hospital. Kerri started experiencing consistent excruciating pain and was considering ending all health intervention after 3-4 months of extreme discomfort and pain. Kerri and I discussed this and I asked her to hold on a little longer hoping the doctors would figure it out and when she decided it was enough I would support her choice, no matter how much it hurt me. She fought bravely for another 6 months until she had to be intubated 3 times in 3 weeks, and she decided that was it, she couldn't take it anymore. My brother in law, father in law, mother in law, and my brother in law's wife rushed to her hospital and sat with her, exchanged how much we loved her and her us, got my brother, mom, and both her sisters on the phone for their opportunity to say goodbye and I love you one more time. I spent the last 8-10 hours (time was really hard to gauge that day) holding her hand and talking to her til she passed. I tell that story to say, even with the best efforts, based on my experience, you will still find yourself wondering if you showed your love enough.

This is a very powerful song. This does remind me of me when I was young, I was no saint and I was a rebellious fool. My dad always told me he loves me every time I went to bed or left for my daily routines. I told my father I loved him once in while, but then one day I got the call that a person should never get. And I was informed that my father passed away, well the last time my father and was together we had a very ugly argument and it was due to my stupidity. Well at the funeral we had, I did write a letter to my dad of how sorry I am and was and how much I loved him. Then I placed the letter in the coffin. Then the strangest thing happened. My dad loved the song "I can see clearly now" well somehow in the funeral home once I placed that letter in the coffin the song played, so for me that was my father telling me its ok. I know it may sound weird, but to this day i still believe that was my father telling me he loves me and he knows that I loved him

My grandpa bought me a truck as I graduated highschool a couple years ago and when I opened the casset cubby in the center console, I found an old Garth Brooks casset tape from the 90s that had a 25 cent sticker on it, the casset player in the truck didn't work but I have a radio at home that also plays cassets, and that's how I found this amazing song

Garth has a lot of songs that are really deep and tug at the heart strings. In his song Beaches Of Cheyenne, the husband and wife fight before he leaves. I won't spoil the end. But have tissues and be prepared for chills. Thunder Rolls deals with infidelity and domestic violence.

Growing up, I always loved this song and sang it at the top of my lungs. The words never hit me so hard till I fell in love. The end of the chorus, "And if my time on earth were through. And she must face this world without me.", waters my eyes everytime nowadays.

Your reaction to this song was so authentic and honest. I could see that the lyrics (and probably the melody, too) were very cathartic for you, helping you to process a lot of turbulent emotions. Garth Brooks really spearheaded the country music renaissance of the early 1990s. He became such an iconic figure that it's almost easy to miss just how real and down to earth his music really was. Especially remembering his love of rock and roll, including even pretty bombastic hard rock like Kiss, I had almost forgotten how authentic a country music sound his own material was. Yeah, he incorporated some of the stage theatrics and laser lights and such from rock music. But his sound was almost as purely country as guys like George Jones and Waylon Jennings. It surprised me to learn that you came from Missouri. For some reason I thought you were Canadian. 😆 But I am thrilled to learn that you love old country music. I was won over to country music by some buddies of mine back in the early 1990s. I loved a lot of the artists coming out then, including Brooks & Dunn, who you mentioned, as well as Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Clint Black, and Aaron Tippon. I also discoveredsome older singers and groups like Ricky Skaggs, Alabama, Reba McIntyre, George Straight, and the Judds. The only newer country singer I really like is Carrie Underwood ("Jesus, Take The Wheel"). On a much lighter note, I think you could have a future as a Nashville songwriter yourself. When you mentioned "hanging on to my boots," I immediately thought, "THAT should be a country music song title!" 😉 Thank you for a very enjoyable reaction video and a walk down memory lane.

It's probably the fact that my survival story was in Quebec and the fact that I speak French that threw you off. Lol. As for the artists you listed, you practically just wrote out my childhood. Except you forgot Conway and Loretta!

Amanda, your emotional beauty transcends your physical beauty and I love you for that. You share your feelings willingly and whole heartedly. My wife and I have been married nearly 44 years and I had 7 deployments with the Navy during that time. We tell each other that we love each other every chance we get and its a heartfelt "I love you". We have never gone to bed angry. In fact, we have never had a major argument. I think it helps that we have known each other since she was 7 years old.

I listen to all types of music, this song really touches my heart. I've taken loved ones for granted when I was younger. I've learned the hard way that they won't be around forever. The things I didn't get to say to them or spending more time with them. I agree that you and Aaron don't go to bed angry. Again, I learned the hard way. A little story for you. I had just gotten off a 14 hour shift. I was ready to go to bed but my wife wanted to talk with me. She got a little upset with me and she grabbed the waistband of my Fruit of the Looms and pulled it all the way over my head. Needless to say that yes,she tore my underwear. By that time, she had my attention. We both got a good laugh out of it. But please everyone, never let the day go by being angry. If you let it go, in time it will build up and the other person will explode. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤all of you.

Two other very good Garth Brooks songs that many people don't offer as follow ups for these kind of videos, but would fit within your theme are as follows. Standing Outside the Fire- An anthem for people who are looked down on or bullied, or that find themselves on the outside of what people general think is the ideal. It's upbeat and powerful, and the video (if you can find it) honors the Special Olympics. We Shall Be Free- Another anthem style song that was way ahead of it's time in the 90's that calls for unity and love over everything else.

I loved even those that abandoned me at birth as I was born with a facial deformity and spent much of my firs year of life in the hospital. My maternal grandparents raised me till I was 14 and my grandfather's health started to fail. Many of my other relatives that should have been there, were not. I am 66 years old now and the hurt is still there. My stepson was rejected by his biological fathers side as I was. I am his father and have been since he was 5 years old. He is autistic. So this song can be a lament for those that should have returned the love from a child as well. So as many have already passed away, and tomorrow never came.

I lost my mom in 2003 from mesothelioma. I was rocked to my core by that. Three yrs later I lost my sister from overdose. It was me and dad until Oct 2020. While that was devastating, I had my Aunt and Uncle here to lean on that first Christmas. This past Holiday season was brutal. I had no family left here because they moved out of state. I spent November and December locked in the house in the dark except to go to work. The thoughts that ran through my mind are insane. I credit my 2 dogs with getting through it. They love unconditionally. Since you are venturing into country music, I would suggest Martina McBride "Concrete Angel" Be advised though powerful video for that song.

A couple of poems that I wrote over 25 years ago, if you like poetry!! Today. You have today, it's yours Yesturday has past it's gone You don't have any promisses about tomorrow You have today, so fill it with something, so that someone tonight are happy that you exist Memories from the past I'm walking down memory lane today I'm standing outside our old house It's a real shame to see how it have started to deteriorate The garden is a mess to, it really breaks my heart to look at this It was a long time sense we lived here, but my memories still feels fresh I bearly can´t stand to see the house and garden deteriorate For surten I can't live with losing my memories of my former home When it becomes too much to look at it, then I close my eyes I remember how it used to be like and what we used to do here So I shut my eyes and I can see how beautiful it used to be Lost I feel a great pain in my chest and tears are falling They are falling down like raindrops over my cheek My eyes are burning and every breath feels painful It feels like something is crushing my lounges I'm trying to think of something else, but I can’t My thoughts keep pounding in my head What is the point of living, which will die next Perhaps I should end it all Those thoughts keep pounding in my mind When I try to talk to people, then none listens Can't they bear to listen, or do they just not care Aren't I worth listening to Why did she abandon me, am I condemned to live all alone If that is the case, why am I alive at all then All I know is that I feel abandoned and alone Yes I should perhaps end it all Who is then going to talk about her No, I have to live on and talk about her In a way she is living through me Someone might do the same for me sometime

I am so sorry that you were let down like that by somebody you trusted so much. I can't make the pain go away, but I can listen whenever you need to talk. I have live streams every other Sunday afternoon if you ever want to come chat with us or you can send me a message via email/IG (both in video description).

Do you hold this same logic for cancer survivors? Rape survivors? Abuse survivors? We live in honor of those that we've lost along the way

I disagree with the philosophy of not going to bed upset or carying on with normal life when angry with someone you love. Many a time I've been in situations where a break from the hightened feelings and emotion were exaclty what was needed to find calm, understanding, gratitude, and love. The break to feel and reflect where what was required to move on from the fight or flight response.

Garth Brooks is modern country not classic. Classic is George Jones, Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, etc.
