Mental Amanda

Mental Amanda

Welcome to my channel!

My name is Amanda. In October of 2018, I was on the ledge of a Canadian hotel room ready to end my life. While an unexpected intervention brought me down, I realized in the following weeks that I needed to make some serious changes. I want to share those changes and my process with others.

Here we will talk about mental health, suicide prevention, health, wellness, the mind-body connection and how to make the most of your life. There will be interviews with celebrities and medical professionals, song reactions, vlogs, meditations and tips for optimizing your physical and mental health.

New videos every week!

I needed that……I feel that my life is not balanced at all with anything. I got a job, family, housing, but still no friends or romance. Loneliness will never leave and I feel like it will last forever. 😢

The final chorus is the most important lines, "don't you keep me inside, screaming suicide" the message to voice your inner demons need to be more common and not ignored when people manage to

Like most women, you don’t get it, it’s not people telling men to be strong, it’s not societal, it’s not tradition it’s not gender roles, it’s biology by design. Stress boosts hormones in men, stress decrease hormones in women, it literally makes women sick. Our nature is to shield our women from stress, men are able to handle stressful situations and ask for more when our women families and communities support us, it boosts serotonin making us stronger, more courages and keeps us going. Men are no longer appreciated or encouraged and we lack that vital step in biology, hence all the depression, mental health etc. it’s a simple explanation and simple solution rooted in caveman biology from 50,000 years ago. Men WANT to protect but absent appreciation and encouragement it’s just a matter of time before they break.

I know I am late to the show (story of my life...lol). I am a prior service Navy Vet. I was medically retired from the Navy in 2006. As of this post I am 46 years old. I was in the same shoes of the bearded guy in the story. I felt like I had no one in my corner and I was on the verge of the precipice of total despair. And I know that some people can relate to that. I can't remember a whole lot of what happened but I know that the was a guardian angel watching over me. I also suffer from schizophrenia and severe depression. There are days I wonder if my life is really worth it. But I remember I have 4 boys and a wonderful wife that I have to remember. I can't be selfish and leave them behind with nothing. I am a VERY patriotic veteran and anytime I hear a song or country, whether it be a song by FFDP or Coffey Anderson, it pulls the tears from as I remember that check I wrote when I signed on the dotted line to serve our country.

Really liked the reaction. But it’s a fact that this mindset is what made this world keep turning. We have seen over the last decade since we have feelings now how upside down the world is. We appreciate the support but hate to say y’all with feelings need to stay in your own lane. This is how the world is and how it goes round. As a sole provider to my house monetary and fix whatever breaks. It’s our job. Folks need to stop crying and keep it moving.

Amanda! Would you say that depression could be invoked through grief? That same grief could push someone into a state of anger, frustration, envy, jealously? Yeah, it's taken me twenty years (and counting) to filter through the flood of emotional damage.

You may see it this way because you live in the mental health world. But... the reality is that most woman will lose respect for a man if he shows vulnerability in any way. So the lyrics are facts. Society looks down on men if they show weakness.
