High lung. This is Nordic paganism from even before the Viking period. Just do the rest of the epic LIFA live at Castlefest concert: In Maidjan Krigsgaldir Alfadirhaiti (or something like that) Hamrer Hippyer. Don’t forget the official videos like Anoana.

@@amandakennedy6348 You will not be disappointed, I promise. I got to go to their last show there and it was like an out of body experience. I talked to a few people that had been to some of their other shows and they even said Red Rock was it very own kind of special. Between the other people there and the acoustics you could feel the old Gods presence and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Have fun, if it wasn't so far away I would have gone again just to see them there.
KmK mentioned Hellblade... The song Senua is singing in the trailer for Hellblade 2 is actually Heilung's In Majdan.
Definitely give anoana and norupo a listen. Incredibly beautiful songs by them.
I discovered this band for myself about 3 years ago and they’ve become one of my favorite groups. I listen to them a bunch every single day

Heilung aren't musicians nor artists, they're time travelers and they pull me into their portal each time I hear their enchanting sounds ❤
My favourite is their video "Anoana". It blows my mind. Worth a watch.
They call themselves “amplified history” and are harkening back to the Northern European culture prior to the Vikings. Their name means “healing” - “hi-lung”. Edit: this was also their first ever live performance (or ceremony as they call them).

Go down the Heilung rabbit hole. It’s a great place to be. Their videos are fantastic productions.
Btw., it's pre Viking!🥰🦇🥰 Heilung is absolutely EPIC!
Heilung is very cool and more is better! Maria Franz, the female vocalist, is crazy talented in making weird sounds. Elizabeth from the Charismatic Voice did a very interesting interview with her. And since you mentioned watching The Last Kingdom, you should check out Eivor, who sings for the soundtrack. Everyone reacts to "Trøllabundin," but she has many more beautiful songs.

There music is made on VERY old runes they found.. Dating back to the Iron Age and Viking age. So it's northern/central european music based on runes and ingravings. It's just badass .

Just saw them in New Orleans. Ecstatic beyond words!
This song and performance always give me the feeling of witnessing something sacred and holy. Somber and tragic, yet tender and filled with love, like a priestess blessing the shields of warriors before they knowingly go to battle and most likely will not return.
Its a poem. Its art. But here is how I interpret it. Dont quote me on any translations, lol. Its called Othan (Odin). It starts with a war cry: Hariuha laþu laukar gakar alu ole lule laukar! - the war cry they went to war with. There is a whole video about the meaning, something like: we ask you Odin, via this song, give us the blessing of Laguz, we support Laguz. But its very vague. Then: she sings: Þat kann ek it ellifta - An eleventh I know ef ek skal til orrostu - if needs I must lead leiða langvini, - to the fight my long-loved friends und randir ek gel, - I sing, in(between) the shields en þeir með ríki fara - and in strength they go heilir hildar til, - whole to the field of fight... heilir hildi frá, - whole from the field of fight! koma þeir heilir hvaðan. - and whole they come thence home.. So they went to war, a party of 11, the enchantress/singer, in the middle. They won, and went home, together. But then the second verse goes: Þat kann ek it fimmta: - a fifth I know.. ef ek sé af fári skotinn - If I see from afar flein í folki vaða, - an arrow fly 'gainst the folk fýgr-a hann svá stinnt, - flies by, so swift, that I as I stood there at ek stöðvig-a-k, - That I stop it, could not. ef ek hann sjónum of sék. - If ever my eyes behold it... They came home: only five... she tells why: she could see the arrows fly in: from afar. An ambush! She could not stop the arrows. And could only watch.... in horror!
Reaches into and touches the spirit.
Heilung's music is pretty wild. I have been to a concert with them a couple of times when they have been to Denmark. Several of their concerts are like being part of a prehistoric ritual. It's not just music, it's a total performance 🙂
Ohhhh boy y’all just stumbled into one of the best rabbit holes in existence! Literally a life changing genre. Heilung are probably the most hardcore group I know of, in good way I mean, but all of them are amazing. They do harder and softer songs too. If you want to try their softer stuff I might recommend Traust(studio version) and Anoana(Official Video) If you wanna try their harder stuff try out(Spelling will be off guaranteed) Alfhirharhaiti LIFA and HAMRER HIPYE LIFA. There’s also several other artists out there that do this stuff but in different ways. Here’s a list of some artists/groups that each add their own style to this culture: Wardruna Danheim Tenhi Forndom Osi and the Jupiter Helmdom Sowulo Einar Selvik and Ivar Bjornson Eivor Tergo Lupi Grimfrost Munknoor I also have a playlist on my channel where I’ve collected various songs from these groups for my own personal use, but could serve as a way to try out artists/songs that’d you’d never find in your recommended. Perhaps we should start from the beginning? The Lifa show starts with an opening ceremonial prayer then goes into In Maidjan. Think you got chills nows lol
I was lucky enough to get to see them at Red Rock amphitheater and it was nothing short of a transcendent experience. I highly recommend anyone that enjoys their videos or music to see them live at least once. The entire vibe and even the people in the audience were just amazing. My service dog and the one the people next to us had started howling along, which is something he never does but everyone was all for it and quite a few folks joined in with them. Best concert experience ever. Also check out In Maijan, it is phenomenal.
Ok, everybody sing along now!
Gotta check out Anoana next, one of their newer videos, amazing!

The comments under their videos are absolutely hilarious. Laughed tears several times when I scrolled through them. 🤣
You've only seen the very edge. I've seen them twice live and Heilung is quite certainly one of the most interesting acts I've seen in years. And their stage act changes all the time. Glad to see you checked them out. Give "In Maidjan" from this same performance a look or perhaps "Anoana" to get a better feel for what this band is about. "Othan" is mellow by comparison to the rest of their catalogue.

What a great choice for an introduction to Heilung! This is one of their chill-raisers! And its a Maria dominate song - which are my favs of theirs. I highly recommend the whole Lifa concert, which is where this clip comes from. It is AMAZING. Their live performances are like a ritual - one that even the audience is part of! The audience howls and chants and throat sings and its great! You can find it in full on their YT channel. If you want to skip the full concert, I would at least check out In Maidjan and Krigsgaldr from the Lifa concert. Also check out Anoana (there's a great music video for it which is BEAUTIFUL) and Norupo (also has a mv)

hi! you mentioning hellblade; i’ve also played, & fun fact, heilung does the music for the trailer! the song is ‘in maidjan,’ which some people have mentioned already. but definitely react to it & see if you recognise the part of the song from the trailer!
Wow so mystical song.
Before: "But what if I hate it?" After: "It's an eargasm."
Othan contains several ancient combat protection spells and words of Odin, god of the north and lord of poetry and war. The first part of the song is a combination of spells found in various bracteates. These bracts were produced mainly during the migration period until the 19th century AD. in northwestern Europe. They were generally made of Roman gold, which the Germanic tribes had received as money in times of peace. Although Odin enjoys war, he also takes pleasure in poetry. Othan has a second part where the white owner of the enchantments recites the words that Odin gave the man: a spell chanted under the shields to bless them and protect the warriors. (Hávámal, stanza 156) The third part is darker, since in it a spell is invoked for active combat that can have the power to stop an arrow in its flight. (Hávamál stanza 150) After that the name of the highest Norse god is repeated in a wolf, barking mantra, in part to convey the feeling that ancient Norse warrior groups were often perceived as herds of animals. This for example is described by Ibrahim Ibn Yaqub al-Tartushi, a traveler and merchant of the 19th century, who writes that the people of Hedeby sang in a barking manner. An eleventh I know, if needs I must lead To the fight my long-loved friends; I sing in the shields, and in strength they go Whole to the field of fight, Whole from the field of fight, And whole they come thence home. A fifth I know, If I see from afar An arrow fly 'gainst the folk; It flies not so swift That I stop it not, If ever my eyes behold it. [Hariuha laþu laukar gakar alu ole lule laukar] It is possibly a kind of word puzzle, built to cast a fertility spell. That spell could be sexual or also fertility for the earth.
First of all, i really liked that reaction. Heilung is a great band. Some background information about the music, because there are two bands to mention. There were some Band before Heilung called Valravn and Euzen. For Valravn i would suggest a song called Koder Pa Snor Valravn was Christophers band before Heilung And Euzen is the Band Maria sings for in a clean voice and without antlers Euzen with the song Metamorph.

Heilung is german and means healing. Thank you for everyone in the comments saying that this band is nordic AND central/north european, because this band is actually part german and some of their texts and "style" is proto-germanic as well and from a time way longer than the "viking" era. Some of their songs are even in german, as the shaman Kai-Uwe Faust is german and the founder of Heilung. Thank you for reacting to them, you should def check out their other Songs like Narupo, Anoana, Asja, In Maidjan, Kriegsgaldr....
Krigsgladr will blow you away! 🙂
Nice reaction! The whole Lifa ritual is awesome. I saw them live in Asheville last year and it was a spiritual experience. If you love the Nordic stuff check out Wardruna if you haven’t already. They did a lot of the music for the Vikings mini series (Helvegen, Lyfjaberg, Voluspa, Viking Suite). Also Heilung’s song Nikkal. A song to the moon goddess Nikkal. Based on one of the oldest known songs from 1400 BC. Written down as cuneiform tablets and discovered in the early 1950’s. It’s the only one that was still in one piece. It consists of instructions to play the melody and sing the lyrics but true details have been lost over time. Yeah, I’m a fan.
Hell yeah. That was quite a spooky, entrancing way to start off my day… not cold enough yet to start throwing on dead animal skins, but I definitely felt connection to animal base instincts. The music from the game hellblade senua's sacrifice, is Heilung.
You should watch more of HEILUNG live at LIFA. Best show ever! BTW: 12:34 Watch HELLBLADE 2 trailer! The music in the trailer (or... the sounds... *bg*) are from a song from HEILUNG!!! And in Vikings S6E10 are fragments of the HEILUNG song "Fylgija Ear", "Hamrer Hippyer" and "Alfadhirhaiti" used. Sadly, they cut it so much, the fragments are only seconds in between. HEILUNG is more like proto-germanic/-norse not Viking mostly.
It's hard to believe you guys have only done one reaction to Heilung. Try Alfadhirhaiti from this live performance - Everyone has done Krigsgladr, and In Madjan already.
this is practically a "benediction" of the warriors by the female shaman or seer and it's beautiful to see them rising their shields like to protect her in exchange. by the way their music will be in the next Hellblade game and they don't sing in their language they sing in ancient languages like Old Norse and proto germanic which makes what they do even more difficult. since you mentioned watching one of their concerts in a village this concert took place in the courtyard of a castle in the Netherlands.
No wonder the Roman Empire said "Eff this... Not going any further" 🤣Didnt they get slaughtered massively in a forrest and then their corpses were hung up on trees by the germanic tribes and left to see for the next romans that dare to come 😁💀 Definitely something you want to watch live to suck everything in or as some ambient at home once in a while and not listen to in the car. Maybe check out Blind Guardian with their songs Bard's Song and Valhalla live at Wacken open air. Amazing show.

Heilung - pronounced as HIGH-LUNG. Their name means “Cure”, in German!
Many cultures use throat singing, it's really not culturally specific
The European metalheads have arrived here in search of faster, harder, louder. Heilung released on a metal label and there are even more bands like that there. If you want to understand metal, you have to listen to bands like Heilung. The band consists of the German Kai Uwe Faust, the Dane Christopher Juul and the Norwegian Maria Franz. All the others are live musicians. They met in the reanactment scene, where they wear similar costumes and try to live according to the times. That's why nothing seems staged here. The metal growls are technically the same as traditional Mongolian singing. The Mongolians also try to use their normal vocal cords at the same time. This also had negative consequences for one or two singers. Because there was no musical notes at the time of the Vikings, their music is largely unknown. Written texts also only appeared in the Middle Ages. There are traditional songs, but it is not known how they have changed over the last 3,000 years. They are also not known to have used gutural singing. This is a modern performance, with 3000 years of musical experience, that reflects our idea of the Viking Age.
Othan is another name for Odin//troutbumandsam
now try reviewing their 'Anoana' video?
last time I heard this music ... I was being sacrificed to the Gods
Heilung, as they itselves say, its "Amplified History". Also, "Heilung", means "healing". Maybe you yourselves are not (fully) aware of this, but I noticed, as I looked at you in the video, your own hearts reacting to the Ancestral Spirits being called upon, your own blood boiling cold, resonating, slowly awakening your ancient suppressed Genes, feeling ALIVE again after MILLENNIA...! Just REMEMBER: "The Returning Ones"
Please reaction heilung anoana please ❤

@@kkjohannes7742 truly believe and agree with what you said 🙏 I really apologize for the misunderstanding ... what I meant in my comment, I just wanna highlight such strong spiritual vibe delivered in the video - so strong that (probably) would make religious ppl in 14th century believe it's an act of witchcraft 🙏 I personally "don't care" about what had happened in the past - I mean, I see them as part of history - and definitely no judging between right or wrong I see the video as part of spiritual tradition and culture - totally super fine with it as an Indonesian - a country where many ppl still believe traditional mistical, spiritual (non religious), both black and white magic - voodoo types of magic, having ritual or offering to type of spiritual form, believe in sacred places, undertanding which one is taboo or not, etc etc - these things are super common, which obviously also have to face "rejection" from religious ppl, one accuse another, or vice versa really ... this "arm wrestling" between religion vs traditional belief is no surprise even todays, so I do understand the situation It's too common till sometimes I tend to make joke of them 😁✌️My comment is more like a sarcasm actually, that's why I put "lol" at the end 😁🙏 Once again, I'm sorry if my comment sounds offending for some ppl ... The musical cadence, physical sound, and female vocalist gives off an "early Bjork" vibe, which makes sense considering Bjork's Icelandic roots and the ancient era of Nordic ties to Iceland during their TransAtlantic exploratory times. Now if the guy in the video could save his "critiques" (very loosely using that word here, since what he's distracting with is mostly random, inane and unnecessary running commentary), and follow foot behind the lady during this presentation by simply listening, making mental notes, and then summing up ones thoughts once the presentation was complete, then it would leave the head-space of the audience alone to take in the sights and sounds alongside the channel creators, thus looking forward to listening to their interpretation. Making bad attempts at humor, while also attempting through coinciding commentary to show that you have the same observational skills as every other human watching and listening comes off rather insecure; save those thoughts and then announce them after the presentation and it will come off much clearer and easier on us listeners than randomly blurting forth comments like "Heh Heh.. Insert every Viking movie ever, here, hehe" as the performance is occurring on screen.
