I tell you some things about this song: The song's title can be found in the Mesogothic Anglo-Saxon glossary as "In-Maidjan", which means "deceptively change" or "corrupt". This makes sense since the entire story within the album consists of a peaceful village that is corrupted by having to go to war. Therefore, Proto-Germanic seems to be the language. Harigasti Teiwa Harigasti Teiwa "is a clear Germanic reference to the Negau helmet. This helmet contains several Etruscan alphabet inscriptions that include the words" Harigasti teiwa which are the first words of the song. This could be translated as Harigast (the priest) although it could also mean, the priest of Teiwaz (Tyr). "Harigast" is often (not always) seen as a personal name and that it could be made up of the words "harjaz" (army, troop, warband, war) and gastiz (stranger, guest). The forms "Hari" and "gast" is particularly found in west-germanic. As such the name could mean "war guest" or "foreign army". Tawol Athodu - I accept the invitation. Ek Erilaz - I am a runemaster. The word has been interpreted to mean magician or runemaster. The word is an ablaut variant of count and it is believed that it could be linguistically related to the name of the tribe of the Heruli or Herulos. The Heruli were a Germanic tribe from Scandinavia that was invaded by the Roman Empire in the 3rd century. So it is probably simply an old military title of Germanic provenance. Owlthuthewaz - owlthu (glorious) thewaz (servant). Means servant of the glorious Niwaremariz - Priest of the god "Ullr" / famous, renowned. From the proto-Germanic term Wulþuz (glory) wolþu- is possibly a reference to a God, surely the God Ullr. Saawilagar Hateka - My name is Sawilagaz. Harja - Army - leader of the army; commander; Warrior Wuotani Ruoperath Wuotani - Oh, Wodan! Ruoperath - famous and brilliant. This could be interpreted as the following: I, Priest Harigast. Aaccept the invitation (to battle) I am the Heruli. I am a renowned priest of Ullr. They call me Warrior. Oh, Wodan the famous and brilliant! The next chant are the names of the 24 Norse runes of the Elder Futhark. This is also known as runic song. Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raidho, Kenaz, Gebo, Wunjo, Hagal, Naudhiz, Isa, Jera, Eihwaz, Perthro, Algiz, Sowelu, Tiwaz, Berkano, Ehwaz, Mannaz, Laguz, Ingwaz, Dagaz, Othala. In English: Wealth, Aurochs, Thorn, Divine Breath, Travel, Torch, Gift, Joy, Hail, Need, Ice, Harvest, Tree, Luck, Elk, Sun, Creator, Birch tree, Horse, Man, Water, Fertility, Day, Home. Odin, prepare for battle! A hug.

@@Nidels oh shit I almost forgot to mention, in Heilung’s Alcatraz performance when Kai comes to that part, there’s this one bit where I could have sworn he said “skyldi kaupa” which is a line from þat mælti mín móðir, a song which is obviously old Norse, but the chanting sounds different in the Alcatraz performance than it does in the original Lifa performance. so either it’s possible that the unintelligible lines, could either be Eskimo in one version, old Norse in another version, or a mix of both in both versions. Sorry for the info dump! But I thought it would be something interesting to think about

As a pagan worshipping person in Sweden, celebrating the old ways, this makes me so happy. Its like you wonderful guys react to shamanic and nordic music, that connects you to the veil and threads between times. If Heilung don't comes to your town your are most welcome to my town and if you don't find a place to stay, please stay in my home. I ve got tickets for 2022 in Stockholm and there are still left. If you want to go into the deep of the information transported get back to me. We are some priestess of the old nordic tradition that would be glad if you joined us for a Heiilung concert and we will teach you about the runes and stuff the really connects to your primal you. Just somehow stumbled upon your reaction and just stopped because you felt the ernegy in the webb of life and that what Heilung sings about in English you may say there nerve of life from womb to tomb and tomb to womb ;)

This group is so badass...harkens back to a time when stories were told through song, dance, and the sharing of food. There's a bit of a "disconnect" in that, just as it is with my own Native American ancestry and song, very little of it had anything to do with "war." It's simply story-telling that was done long before the written word. Many differences were settled by a "sit-down" over food and song...many a war was started that way as well. (Lol, I guess now I understand why I took "Pre-Medieval History" in college decades ago)

this song is about war. in fact he is talking about accepting his opponants invatation to battle. he calls on odins power to help him and he says he of his people the heruli. the language is called eldar futhark i think. which is old norse. and if u know anything about the norce(vikings) they were all about war. in fact all men wanted to die on the battlefield and not as a old man in bed. most of the words i can pick out in all of their songs has something to do with war

I'm 100 percent here for more Heilung. Any artist who can get you guys vibing like crazy without even looking at the screen is an automatic banger. And I am 1000 percent here for Smokey describing the viking chants as the first battle raps. In all honesty... it's not far off. The old Scandinavians practiced a few different types of magick, and one of them was known as "galdr." It was done by chanting one word, a few words, or even single letters in their alphabet. Even then, they were free to switch up the pronunciation as the spirit moved them. If it sounds similar to a person speaking in tongues, that's also not far off the mark. These days the only example of a galdr chant that non-history buffs are familiar with is the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk saying "fee, fi, fo, fum." Hope this was informative and I hope to see more Heilung in the future! "Alfadirhaiti" is my personal favorite 🤘😎🤘

Most people don't know that about the number nine being sacred. It's reason for being sacred to the Norse is the Nine worlds connected by Yggdrasil (translated to mean Yggr's gallows in reference to Odin's sacrifice of himself to himself)

So glad you are exploring Heiling! Try just laying down in the dark, breathing. . .and take an hour or so to listen to this. I have put myself into a trance like that. Have you ever listened to anything Ravi Shankar has done?

If you guys wanna take in an hour show of it, watch the entire Lifa live performance that these videos are from, the whole this is amazing from start to finish. It's like watching an ancient ritual. Alfadhirhaiti is probably my favorite of their songs, it's mostly names of the all-father, and my malamute I rescued was named Odin so I listen to it almost every time I take him for a walk haha.

I’ve only recently come across your channel and you guys rock! Watching you discover Tool has been an absolute joy and I’m spending waaaayyyy too much time trawling through all your earlier reaction videos. I’d like to suggest a band for you to react to, if I may. I don’t know if you’ve heard of Twelve Foot Ninja. They’re a local Aussie group out of Melbourne They rock hard but really don’t take themselves too seriously. Their videos are, shall we say, something that really need to be experienced. A few of my favourites are “One Hand Killing”, “Coming For You”, “Sick” and “Start The Fire”. Thank you so much guys for all the videos you put out, love your work, never change!

24:40 My brain doesn’t shut down at night; so sleeping doesn’t come easy for me. I make playlists on YT that I’ll listen to at night in an attempt to sleep. I have one with Heilung. If I want to get motivated during the day, I’ll listen to it. I tried to use it at night once…never again. There’s some freaking scary stuff going on in my head. It ramped my brain up so bad, it caused all the ptsd issues I thought I had dealt with to show up on steroids.

I am so so sorry that happened to you :(, as someone who also has difficulty sleeping at night, may I suggest the following songs to help with sleep 1: Julie Fowlis - song of the seal 2: Ashley Serana - song of the sea 3: song of the sirens ( sorry I’m not sure the name of the vocalist) 4: Ice Kitsune- Derek Fiechter 5: Eruyt Village- Hitoshi Sakamoto 6: Eruyt Village- Benyamin Nuss 7: Isil Elun’falo ( night elf Kaldor)- Sharm 8: Siren song - Sharm 9: song to the siren - Eurille 10: Whispers- Eurille 11: Moonsong ( instrumental)- Adrian von Ziegler ( absolutely fantastic for helping with sleep in my personal opinion) 12: Mir Da’len Somniar - elf lullaby from Dragon age 13: Scent of night ( vocal cover or the instrumental is fantastic but both are rather dark so not if your in a very low mood unless your like me lol) - cant remember the name of the composer, my apologies 14: The Spirit Song - A Nordic Lullaby- by Jonna Jinton. I hope that these are of use to you & wish you all of the best 😊🙏

That feeling you get after listening to this type of music. Is your ancestral blood pumping through ya. Deep down your soul is trying to rip itself out to show your wild primitive side. Just remember a few hundred years ago or a few thousand years ago we were still hunters and gatherers. And in some countries or cultures we still are 👍👍.

You may not ever see this comment, and I doubt many people would ever vote for this - but I'd like to see you guys react to NEVERMORE. They are a Metal band, that are no longer together, and their lead singer Warrel Dane, died December 13, 2017 (age 56). He was part of a band called "Sanctuary", then in Nevermore until 2007. Warrel Dane trained in Opera for around 5 years, and had an amazing vocal range. The band also had the amazingly talented guitarist Jeff Loomis (check this guy out too), and in the live concert "Year of the voyager", Chris Broderick (of Megadeth fame). I often think of them as 1 of my top 3 favorite bands of all time (1 - Black Sabbath, 2 - Megadeth, 3 - Nevermore). Though there have many mind-blowing songs, I recommend "I, Voyager" for your first try, because it was the first song of theirs I was introduced to. If you ever give it a listen, I'll recommend a few others. Thank you guys, keep the awesome reactions coming :)
