Can’t hear this without reverting to childhood & remembering waiting all week to watch Miami Vice, which was not child friendly, but part of being an 80’s kid was often absentee parent’s, which was my case in order to watch it. The soundtrack for the show was awesome & usually gritty, based on the show’s content, but it was a massive influence in the 80’s… Genesis provided Tonight Tonight Tonight as well (not to be confused with “In the air tonight” … the leads were cops & usually fighting drug lords.. it was the time of Scarface still, so it was prevalent in Miami!

Glenn had a string of hits (and a few acting gigs) in his post-Eagles career. This and "The Heat is On" were bangers. He appeared in an episode of the 80s cop series Miami Vice called "Smuggler's Blues", and he even had a song by the same name to go with it! Sadly, we lost Glenn just over six years ago, but his legacy will live on forever. You might also check out "The One You Love", "True Love", and "Soul Searchin'". It's interesting. You've done solo songs by Glenn and Joe Walsh, but you have yet to do anything featuring Don Henley, the Eagles' drummer, who had by far the most prolific solo career of the bunch. "Dirty Laundry" is fantastic, as is "The Boys of Summer" (about baseball), "The End of the Innocence", "The Last Worthless Evening", and one of my personal faves, "Sunset Grill."

This song was used for the 80s TV show Miami Vice. They use to use a lot of great songs on that show. Glenn's song "Smuggler's Blues" was also on the show. This song was written in the 80s. Glenn helped write the song "New Kid In Town" in the 70s for the Eagles. To me it has a similar feel of wandering the town at night. It appeared in the episode "The Prodigal Son", as well as the 1985 Pepsi commercial featuring James "Sonny" Crockett and Frey. On the episode "The Prodigal Son" Crockett and Tubbs go to New York City to assist the DEA in hunting down a gang of Colombian drug dealers responsible for killing several undercover agents who were posing as dealers in Miami. @@jp3813 you miss understand my statement. Both Jay and Amber have said that they grew up with limited exposure to other types of music (Jay only with rap and sports, and Amber limited R&B and bluegrass - if I remember correctly). So in that aspect, no I don't want other kids to be like them. To be like them now - ABSOLUTELY. So that is why I said we shouldn't shelter our children - we should expose them to all kinds of music, theater, movies, and so on, at a young age. I was lucky to be able to have seen Phantom of the Opera and Cats on Broadway as a teen. I was able to go to rock concerts with friends as a teen and that wasn't the only genre of music I was exposed to.

The clips shown in the video with the two men were from the popular mid-80’s tv show “Miami Vice” in which this song was prominently featured. The white man was Don Johnson, whose daughter is Dakota-acting in Hollywood today. Loved the show and their music. I knew Amber would get that look of bliss and be carried away by the sax. Thank you.

A theme for the sultry, mysterious and elusive woman, weaving in and out of sight amongst the crowds, then vanishing into the night. An intriguingly beautiful stranger in a city that never sleeps will have you up until dawn searching, hoping for a chance at another glimpse. That sax is hitting in broad heavy strokes against the New York backdrop; the pulse of the beat...all an exquisite canvas. Listening to this, I get the thrill of imagining between both; being the one who is captivating as well as the one who becomes captivated. It's truly exhilarating and masterfully crafted storytelling with the music, theme, and visuals.
