This is beautiful. George originally wrote All Those Years Ago for Ringo to sing. When John died, he changed some words around and dedicated it to Lennon. He then brought Paul and Ringo in to contribute to the recording.

When George sings that John "imagined it all," it's not just a reference to the song "Imagine," but that John actually started the Beatles. He invited Paul and then George to join "his band."

George also did a great song about the Beatles called "When We Was Fab." The official video has appearances by Ringo Starr, Jeff Lynne and Elton John. There is someone in a walrus suit playing bass. George said that it was Paul. Paul later clarified that he wasn't able to be in the video so he suggested they put someone in a walrus suit and say that it was him.

I believe at the time of John’s death he and George were not on the best terms. Like most people that lose a loved one when they are not speaking there can be a great feeling of guilt for the one still living. I’m sure George wishes he could have cleared things up with John. I bet the song was therapeutic for George. It also brought the three living Beatles together as Paul and Ringo performed on the song.

I think it's a skiffle beat. Skiffle was the predominate musical style right after the war and the Beatles (Quarrymen) were steeped in it. They all grew up in close proximity to each other so it shouldn't be surprising that their phrasing etc. are similar to each other.

Paul’s tribute to John is a very touching song called “Here Today”. I imagine you will get to it one of these days. Elton John’s “Empty Garden” is another beautiful message to John. I think George tried to make this as upbeat as possible in spite of the subject. Actually, many years later, George was assaulted, in his own home, by a crazed fan. I believe his wife, Olivia, helped him fight off the attacker. It’s so horrifying that people like the Beatles become the objects of lunacy and twisted minds after giving so much of their nervous systems for the world to enjoy. It’s heartbreaking and frustrating.

Another great Lennon tribute is Elton John's Empty Garden. I've been knocking, but no one answers.

Thank you, Harri! Having previously recorded the music for the song, Harrison tailored the lyrics to serve as a personal tribute to his former Beatles bandmate John Lennon, following the latter's murder in 1980. Ringo Starr is featured on drums, and Paul McCartney (along with his Wings bandmates Linda McCartney and Denny Laine) overdubbed backing vocals onto the basic track. It's the first time since the end of the Beatles for the three (Paul, Geaorge, Ringo) to play together on a record. The next time was only 1993 on 'Free as a bird'. I love George Harrison because of his spirituality and his honest sentiments.

Then, I bring it back down by segueing in to the Moody Blues The Night, which includes Nights in White Satin/Late Lament through the gong at the end. I got the olds, and don't have a playlist, but I guess in a sense these three tunes have been my playlist since the '80s.

John was 2 1/2 years older than George. When you’re a kid, that seems like a big difference and relatively speaking, it is. So George looked up to him as an older brother sort of.

I think his Beatles song 'It's All Too Much' is criminally underrated, great epic tune from the "Yellow Submarine Songtrack".

It's sad that George and John where never able to patch up there differences but it was up to George and I think he realized it to late unlike Paul who even at there worst witch was bad they still had very deep feelings for each other in the early days John would refer to George as the kid or the half beatle George said he didn't feel like he took any inspiration from John and Paul and John was livid he said how could he not be inspired by to musical geniuses and when George wrote this and had Ringo and Paul on it it was his way of apologizing to John with the remaining beatles there.

Great song man. I know that you're gonna like McCartney's With A Little Luck, Ebony And Ivory and Lennon's Mind Games and #9 Dream.
