Just to translate the meaning: This song is about a child take cared by parents with full of love and hardship both by the mother and father carrying him singing lullabies, giving him milk and everything since from infant in their hands til he was grown up being bad resulting to taking drugs until realizing to come back first to his mother who is crying and asking the son why he became bad person. The son returned with regrets to everything he had done wrong. It's like a prodigal son returning from where he came from. With this song it only reminds us that Parents should never be forgotten for all they have done and they are the one who give the foundation of our soul.
It was and still is a very popular song in Germany, too.

It’s a song that every Filipinos know in their heart the meaning of a prodigal son in this Iconic song. My brother and every other kids in those days lived and died singing Anak😞. My brother played this song with his guitar echoing wrong choice of crowed that killed him a year later.

Absolutely true.
Finally a person reacts to the original song !!
This song is an entry to the Metro Pop Music festival in 1977 and didn’t won anything. However, it turn out to be greatest, the most recorded and translated Filipino song ever written. For its message is universal. It crosses the boundaries of different cultures and languages.
Beautiful song from the Philippines 🇵🇭 mabuhay i cried when heard this song

You feel what i feel in that music. Anak.. child.. so nice instrumental talking to a babay
English translation: No'ng isilang ka sa mundong ito (When you were born into this world) Laking tuwa ng magulang mo (Your parents were full of joy) At ang kamay nila ang 'yong ilaw (And their hands were your light) At ang nanay at tatay mo'y (And your mother and your father) 'Di malaman ang gagawin (Can't figure out what to do) Minamasdan pati pagtulog mo (Gazing at you even when you're sleeping) At sa gabi'y napupuyat ang iyong nanay Sa pagtimpla ng gatas mo (And in the night, your mother slept so late just to prepare your milk) At sa umaga nama'y kalong ka Ng iyong amang tuwang-tuwa sa iyo (And in the morning, you're on your father's laps, who is so joyful because of you) Ngayon nga ay malaki ka na (Now, you are all grown up) Ang nais mo'y maging malaya (You desired to be free) 'Di man sila payag, walang magagawa (Even if they forbid you, they can't do anything) Ikaw nga ay biglang nagbago (Then you suddenly changed) Naging matigas ang iyong ulo (You became hard headed) At ang payo nila'y sinuway mo (And you disobeyed their teachings) 'Di mo man lang inisip na Ang kanilang ginagawa'y para sa iyo (You didn't even think that everything they do is only for your sake) 'Pagkat ang nais mo'y masunod ang layaw mo (Because you only want to follow your indulgences) 'Di mo sila pinapansin (You don't notice them) Nagdaan pa ang mga araw (Days have passed) At ang landas mo'y naligaw (You were lost in your path) Ikaw ay nalulong sa masamang bisyo (You became addicted to horrible vices) At ang una mong nilapitan (The first person you reached out to) Ang iyong inang lumuluha (Is your mother who is in tears) At ang tanong, "anak, ba't ka nagkaganyan?" (And she asked, "My child, why did you become like this?) At ang iyong mga mata'y biglang lumuha (And your eyes suddenly shed tears) Nang 'di mo napapansin (Without you noticing) Pagsisisi ang sa isip mo't Nalaman mong ika'y nagkamali (Regret is in your mind when you knew you have done wrong) Pagsisisi ang sa isip mo't Nalaman mong ika'y nagkamali (Regret is in your mind when you knew you have done wrong) Pagsisisi ang sa isip mo't Nalaman mong ika'y nagkamali (Regret is in your mind when you knew you have done wrong)

Perfect translation 👍, you nailed it exactly, the best I've seen. I usually find tagalog translation to english off, it is not easy to do, as there is a different sentence structure, apparent backwards also, or just a different approach or ideas to expressions, or Yoda style going on... Here's my translation (more of a paraphrase) for the last part... Pagsisisi ang sa isip mo't (your thought is regret) Nalaman mong ika'y nagkamali (you realized that you screwed up or made a mistake), or you have regretful thoughts and only now realize that you've screwed up..., or you now only realized that you screwed up and think regretfully..., Lol 🤣
There was a beautiful message I read from a man I think he’s from the Netherlands. His life story as he said was like this song. Then he heard this song that hit him hard while in prison and changed his life. He said that was almost 20 ago that he was cleaned.
As a kid i was and now as a parent, this song never fail to make me realise how big is their responsible which a child cant repay back except cry of love.
A legendary Filipino music artist Freddie Aguilar, 'Anak' this song translated in many languages worldwide.
This song always reminds me to love and appreciate my parents, specially now that they are getting old
His catalog of music is phenomenal, I love everything I have heard even though I don’t speak Tagalog.
I'AM A PILPINO BÙT I LOVE EUROPEAN TRANSLATION OF THIS SONG THANK YOU FOR PLAYING THIS OLD SONG
True. I was 2nd year college student when this fredie aguilar song became a hit, and we sang this with our classmates together, or singly in school with my guitar. Were still young and look the future promising with mother to guide me. In 1983 I joined the AFP then in 1991 PNP and retired in 2016. My parents died one after the other without seing them at their bedside at the moment of death. I served the country for 34 years, but not my parents at their bedside. My far postings across the land and deep south of BASULTA, mainland Mindanao, Mamasapano in Maguindanao included, destroyed my marriage and torned it apart, and alienated me from my 3 children all grown professionals. Im alone, homeless and heading straight dead-center ahead to the graveyard to face judgment before God Life is too short and just passing-by. Great men of history since antiquity are now top soil. I recall this music in collge, and sang to heart the melody and the message it conveyed of mothers love for their children.
ONE OF UNFORGETTABLE SONG FROM HIM. MEANINGFUL LYRICS.
thanks men for doing this reaction..

The first time I heard "Anak" I was stationed at Subic Bay Naval Base and Freddie was an amateur entered in a contest where he sang "Anak" he did not win and my wife and I knew he should of won the contest A year or so later he was going to perform at a popular club in Olongapo City and I reserved an up front table as I brought a video camera. Before the show I was introduced to Freddie and asked if it would be O.K. to record his show. We became friends and over time I went to many of his shows. and when I returned to the United States there was an overthrow of the Philippine President Marcos and the song" Bian Ko"( My Country) as He had recorded it years before was the Battle Cry of the Rebelion which inspired the rebels overthrow of Marcos-

Philippines were once colonized by the Spain like the Mexico and that’s the reason why most of Filipinos have Spanish Surnames..
It’s a song about a son whom his parents doted on since the day he was born, it says about their joy and struggles of sleepless nights. The son grew up and changed and soon become a pain the ass until he completely lost his way to bad horrible vices. But the first person he comes to was his mother. He was remorseful when he realized he made a big huge mistake. Translated versions do not even do justice to this song’s depth story. The phrases and words used is painful and deep in Tagalog.
So perfect song
this is a nice song
The song was composed of the same singer and it was according to his true to life story. The message of the song is also beautiful especially to young generations. It is about a young good son that turned his life messy when he grew up.
Legendary
I hope you can react on the extended version of that song,"anak" by freddie aguilar which tell about that prodigal son who later become a father too and told by his parents how does it feel now that he is now a father to his child...
wow

You may also react to his song "Aking Pang Naalaala.
The lyrics of this song is like the story in the Bible...The prodigal son. But the lyrics of english version of this song is different from the original version.
Watch and listen to a newer version by a Russian woman Ana Rabstsun and American David DiMuzio. It's even very beautiful and nice to listen to. Anak is really great song.
