Thanks Pete. I knew Roger, Ritchie and Jon but couldnt remember the other two.. The whole band kicked ass!! The drummer, holy crap..! Amazing. All was amazing.
This line-up of Purple is one of very few bands in rock history where every single member was an absolute master of their instrument (I include Ians voice in that). True legends. I still miss the true gentleman and genius - RIP Jon. I met Jon during the Whitesnake years and he really could give Dave Grohl a run for the title of "Nicest Man in Rock 'n' Roll".
That's the 70's Baby!!!!, glad to see the Youngsters Catching Up. LOL, Great Reaction.
The band was on a road tour with a music reporter, when that reporter asked the band how hard / easy was it for them to come up with song's? The responded by making "Highway Star" with in 20minutes (which was about a car and the lead singer liked to drive fast) and by that night at a live show, they released their new creation...that song became one their trade mark song's among many others. Deep Purple is one the most influential bands in the history of rock-n-roll.

I agree with best hard rock band !!! Way far beyond Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath !!
Smoke on the water, Lazy, When a blind man cries, Child in time, Strange kind of woman and much more hahahah
I attribute my tinnitus in part to Deep Purple....LOVED these guys and especially this classic line up. Thanks for reviewing this!!
Ian was ADORABLE! Child in time is a must, his vocals in that one is something you’ve never heard before! Thank you peace ✌️
Early Deep Purple = The birth of heavy metal. There had been bands before that that were producing a heavy metal-like sound, but this is the real start of it, and it's still only rarely been equalled. "Child in time", "Space truckin'", "Woman from Tokyo", and of course, with the most famous riff in rock music, "Smoke on the water".
"Child in Time" live 1970 Will blow your mind!!!👍✌😀
Always love watching someone experience the Mighty Purp for the first time! ❤
Deep Purple “Hush” and “Space Truckin”
You MUST listen "MADE IN JAPAN" of this band. Before u die, best live band EVER.
One of the best driving songs, Ritchie Blackmore was a genius on guitar, keep enjoying them two y’s and thick thighs :)
This song was born on a tour bus going to Portsmouth UK in 1971, when a reporter asked the band how they wrote songs. To demonstrate, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore grabbed an acoustic guitar and began playing a riff consisting of a single g repeated over and over, while vocalist Ian Gillan improvised lyrics over the top. the song was refined and was performed that same night.
if you think it is freaky to you, first time we heard it when it was new, we all freaked! I Love some Deep Purple
"Lazy" is really good too. Love that one.
An extraordinary band, extraordinary vocals, guitar, keyboard and drums 😍
I was lucky enough to see this line up live in 1984/5 when they had a reunion. Fantastic gig.
What an awesome band. Never been a band blessed with so much talent. "Child In Time", "Black Night", "Space Truckin'", "No No No", "Smoke On The Water"...
This bands music is still enormous in Japan. There are many cover versions by , wait for it Senior High School Bands, which will amaze you. Just go on KZread and search Japanese High School Band and Deep Purple. They do Smoke on the water followed by Highway Star. You will not believe what you will hear. Enjoy 😉
In his Prime...Ian Gillan was on the Next Level.💯
Such a great Band. Started in 1967, and just played some of the best music ever written. These guys are in their mid 70s by now, and a couple of them have passed on. Thanks for the music you gave us all of those years.

Best version of deep purple. And yes, like everyone else is requesting, please, please do Child in Time. If you think his vocals is good here, his vocals in Child in Time is just out of this world.
The audio is from the iconic live album, "Made in Japan" . The video is from live in Copenhagen (I think).
I was 18 when I saw them in concert which is an experience I'll never forget. Love this band.
I was lucky enough to see them live in Atlantic City between ten and fifteen years ago. They were old men by then but they still rocked. Great driving tune, always gets me a speeding ticket.
As a few guys said in the comments you gotta check out Deep Purple's song Child in Time. One of my favourites from that band.I get a bit surprised when you young folks take a liking to this sort of stuff.Older music. This is what I listened to when I was a teenager and here and there across the years.I'm guessing that the vocalist-Ian Gillan-listened to a lot of black singers from the USA and that's partly affected his vocal style.A bunch of hugely talented bunch of musicians.I think it was partly them that inspired me to learn to play the guitar.Good show young lady.Thanks.
Ian Gillian was one of THE best vocalist in rock, Blackmore t5he same when it comes to guitar, and Jon Lord the best keyboardist in rock history. Just them 3 you had an all star band. Them along with Sabbath and Zeppelin were cutting edge bands and helped shape what eventually would be called heavy metal.
Brilliant fantastic version now do Lazy, it will blow your socks off
Been waiting along time for Deep Purple, and finally! Thanks Jayy it was worth the wait. Welcome to the 3rd band classed as a pioneer of rock and heavy metal, them along with Led Zep and Black Sabbath. Ian Gillan-vocals Ritchie Blackmore-guitar Roger Glover-bass Jon Lord (RIP)-organ and Ian Paice on drums. This video is from live in Denmark 1971 I think, anyway you have to check their songs Child In Time and Space Trucking.
Jayy. He plays Jesus in Jesus Christ superstar. 1970.. the brown album. Amazing. Great reaction as usual.
This was at a time when you could do it live or get off the stage. No electronic embellishments, just straightforward rock.

And you couldn't mic the amps since the sound desk wasn't powerful enough. That's why they had so many
So thankful i was a 70s teenager Such great music👍🤘🤘🤘🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Child in time. And, when a blind man cries.
Back in the day, I actually cut class in High school and drove to Rainbow Tickets on Lovers Lane in Dallas Texas and bought as many tickets as I could.(they were 10 dollars) The concert sold out. I actually scalped tickets in the parking lot. One of my favorite concerts and memories from my teens. My favorite song has to be "Smoke on the Water." I love a lot of their stuff. Thank you so much for taking me back to that time. ❤ 👍👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ✌
Deep Purple - Highway Star from their Machine Head album - a GREAT album. Ian Gillan - voices Ritchie Blackmore - electric guitar Roger Glover - bass Jon Lord - organ Ian Paice - drums
I love that you reacted to Deep Purple! That's what I grew up on!🤩🤩🤩
Heck yeah this will be awesome. This song is so killer live. Thanks.
Ian Gillan discovered in the 1960s that he could scream full voice on Top 'a' and after that became the obvious choice for Deep Purple's 2nd line up in 1969. Slightly diminished by age, he can still approximate that scream today. Some of us can just about do it in the shower...

That’s the original Jesus Christ Superstar, baby! Ian Gillian can BRING IT. Best DP vocalist by far. Check out Lazy if you like their jamz
It was around this time (1972) that Deep Purple entered the Guinness Book of Records as the loudest band in the world after a concert at London's Rainbow Theatre which was so loud that three members of the audience were knocked unconscious.
Saw them live back in the day. Those were the days. Freedom and Peace. Yes you've gotta do "Child In Time" from the Made In Japan Album...Live.
How I spent my youth listening to this band loved it
Not to be redundant, but Child in Time really needs to be on you "to do" list.
Deep purple made in Japan is the best of what they have to offer on record yes,hi jayy
AND MUSIC FANTASTIC 😊 THAT IS PURE FANTASTIC HARD ROCK!!
This tune is indeed the soundtrack to many a speeding ticket my dear 😜
I remember driving around in my boyfriends 1957 Chev that his grandma gave him blasting this song
I can hear some U2, AC/DC and Van Halen in There as Influenced by Deep Purple. Saw them back in the 80's Awesome Live Performance.
Very simply, on a coach to a gig, a journalist asked Ian Gillan how they wrote songs, Ian was looking out the window at the traffic, Richie Blackmore the guitarist started strumming this opening riff out. Gillan started singing about what he was watching. At the show that evening they debuted this song ! One of the Unholy Trinity of Hard Rock, with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, they laid the foundations for most future rock music.
Child in Time,enough said
This song was written during an interview to answer the reporter on how they wrote music . Played it for the first time that night .
They dont make music like this anymore, I miss the old days of rock and Motown
Gotta agree with the others - Child in Time and Lazy from the same live album, really showcase Gillans incredible vocals
There was no video for this recording, the images were later synced from another concert in Copenhagen the same year so, sound from Tokyo, images from Copenhagen. Really good job of syncing no doubt made easier by the metronome on the drums, otherwise known as Ian Paice, one of the greatest rock drummers ever.
Burn is a great song! 70's music was killer!
Ian can sing !!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ The very best !!!
The opening track from the GREATEST live album ever made. I saw them in the UK on this tour and they were to put it simply FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!
YES GILLAN IS A GREATEST,WITH WHAT YOU SAY BEST CAR,AND BEST GIRL! LISTEN TO THE LIRICS! THAT IS PURE HARD ROCK!! ....
One of the first examples, maybe the first, of a trashy, speed metal style guitar solo. Legendary
When A Blindman Cries and Wasted Sunsets are two great songs!
This song was born on a tour bus going to Portsmouth in 1971 when a reporter asked the band how they wrote songs. To demonstrate, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore grabbed an acoustic guitar and began playing a riff consisting of a single "G" repeated over and over, while vocalist Ian Gillan improvised lyrics over the top.
Britain's second biggest touring rock band after Led Zeppelin, the Purps ability to lay it down sometimes appears telepathic. Still around in one form today (with three members of this line-up still in the band!) they were troubled by personnel problems in their 1970s heyday. At their best they were unbeatable.
Check out Knockin' At Your Backdoor by these guys.
That gallop at the start, tingles on your arms, across your chest and the image of thundering horses in your mind. 😆
Gracias gracias!!!!!!!! Por escuchar esta música.... te amo!!!!!!!!!
yeah that's a banger. heavy metal in it's "primitive" form
Deep purple anticipated the Tesla model Y by a good 20 years. Now I’ve got those fat tires and everything I’m as good as Deep Purple was in the 1960s.
Hey Jaye they were the BOMB at California Jam!!! This is old biker music we still love it!!! Love you Tamsen in Riverside Ca.....
Best ever driving tune. May I say you are fine!🤗🇬🇧
Great live version! Typical 70's camera work; keep the camera on the singer, while Ritchie is peeling the paint off the walls.
This song was written in a tour bus on the way to a show . Because a reporter asked them how they came up with ideas for new songs. The first live performance was that very night. It stunned the reporter, that they could do that so fast.
Aaaaand on the geetar....MR. RITCHIE. BLACKMORE.

He was shredding it! Mind you there were all the top of their game - that Jon Lord solo is pretty damn special too...
Just found you. Love u. This makes my soul smile. Thank you for being you. You're great
Holy Fuck!!! I love this one.. Damn!!! Thank you, Wow..
Ian Gillian was the voice of Jesus on the record "Jesus Christ Superstar" (brown album).
I think I was 12 or 13 when I bought the Deep Purple Machine Head album that was probably 49 years ago. Still just as good today as it ever was. I guess I have a hard time understanding some of this newer music. Just give me the good old classic rock.
Makes any car you are driving at least seem faster...
Makes you want to get up and dance crazy with reckless abandon to the fantastic drum and great guitar riffs throughout.
Knocking at your backdoor is a great song as well
My Junior and Senior year in high school I drove a 69 Z28 that I named Highway Star.
An all star line up almost. Ian Gillian is an underrated and one of tocks best vocalist ever, Ritchie Blackmore is one of rocks best guitarist ever, and Jon Lord is THE best keyboardist in rock ever.
A great rock song...
Great music for cruising with 1966 - 1974 muscel or pony cars !
i love our comment !!!! its as awesome as the song
The song is about the excess of being a rock star and he loves it
Deep Purple is dope.
Greatest keyboard player ever!
That was LIVE NO FKN AUTO TUNE OR COMPUTERS ALL TALENT & SKILL🤘🤘🤘🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
You’ve Gotta Listen To The Whole Album (machine head) by Deep Purple! Hot Hot!
