John Lennon co-wrote this song and is singing some background vocals.

Lennon may have been given a co-writing credit but his contribution was limited to proposing the word “aim” which Bowie changed to “fame”.

Hardly "co-wrote".
David Bowie did perform Fame on Soul Train in 1975, it's on KZread
One of my favorites
Awww. The Fabulous Rabbit Hole of David Bowie!
funny fact...bowie performed this on "soul train" tv show
You could do Let’s Dance by David Bowie for Funky Friday.
This really was ahead of its time and it definitely predicted a lot of aspects of 80s music. But it still had that mid-70s special kind of vibe to it as well, before all the technology exploded.
This song, Space Oddity & Let's Dance are my all time favorite Bowie songs!
Bowie could do it ALL and that's why he is Bowie ! They broke the mold on this artist !
I heard it...when it came out1975 ! It`s my favorite Bowie song !!
Bowie was one of a kind and so is his music. No other artist was making music like this! Sorely missed!! *I was in the 5th grade when this song came out and we were doing "the bump" to this song!! Anyone remember that dance? LOL
I was never really a big Bowie fan, as I was into a different genre of music. However, over the years I've come to appreciate him and song like this and Space Oddity, among others. Nice to see someone hearing this for the first time. Enjoying your channel! ✌🏻💀
The Thin White Duke.
This should be interesting. And I think John Lennon of the Beatles collaborated with Elton John on this. They hung out sometimes apparently.

Yes! John Lennon had some of the song writing credits and he is singing the falsetto “fame”. I don’t think Elton John was involved, but I could be wrong.

@@karenmikalofsky5287 No Elton. Elton was on the Lennon/Elton collaborations Whatever Gets You Through the Night and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

No - the other song he performed was Golden Years.
This is one of those songs I don’t remember hearing for the first time. It’s always playing I don’t remember it not playing.
Wow! I never knew John co-wrote & did background vocals. 😂...This was performed live on soul train & the dancers were killin it! 😊 Please react to that. I'm from the 70's & when I watched it I was like wtf? Who is this white dude? It was different & a little weird, but I loved it! This is how David was introduced to me. I'd never seen or heard anything like this. Amazing
Ace, i remember hearing this when it was newly released round 1974-75, and saw David in concert. No one else like him. Never will be .
🔥🔥🔥🔥😎🍸🔥🔥🔥
This was the last song on the Young Americans album. Bowie recorded it in his R&B/Soul phase. Definitely check out the song Young Americans, Fascination, Right and Somebody Up There Likes Me, they're all really funky!
Wish u had been with us to see him in 74
David Bowie calls this plastic soul. "Modern Love" - "Golden Years" - "Young Americans" - all great.

There is not one ounce of funk in Modern Love which was written 8 years later after Bowie’s plastic soul period.

You might want to read some reviews of Modern Love Suz. You might be the only one who doesn't hear the soul influence.@@suz5862
No funk songs exactly like this
He reinvented himself so many times -- one of the first to present as androgynous, to wear makeup, costume, assume different personas for his musical style changes. True artist, and apparently a really lovely down-to-earth human -- Changes, Suffragette City, The Jean Genie, Starman, Space Oddity...
Check out "Stay" "China Girl" "Modern Love" too many to list.❤
No one reacts to TVC15 It’s a jam
This makes Parliament P-Funk look like a joke this one is hard family educate to elevate
The Beatles George Harrison playing guitar on this track...

Nope, lead guitarist credit on Fame is Carlos Alomar, James Brown's session guitarist
Great choice another good one if you like this would be ohio players fire Also shining star by earth wind and fire Love roller coaster another ohio players son
The 80s weren't really funky. It got watered down. 60s and 70s had heavy funk, and you can go back to James Brown, P-Funk, Maceo Parker, Ohio Players, etc. This song had that grit...
You should be doing the videos. It sux not to see the performers...
