No, he isn’t playing with his tongue, he’s playing with his teeth. Jimi wasn’t the first one to do this, what made Jimi stand out was that he could play really well with his teeth. The way you do it is you pluck the strings with you upper front teeth, you pretend your big two front upper teeth are a pick. It’s not something you can do for a whole song because your jaw will ache, and striking your teeth against the strings is not a very pleasant sensations. My parents went to see Jimi 8 times, once at the Whiskey A Go-Go in Hollywood where they got right up to the stage. In a way I went to a Jimi Hendrix in 1970: my mother was 6 months pregnant with me.

There's a black and white video of him playing Hey Joe where you can actually see him playing a long trill that is not in this and he seems to be doing it with his tongue. It's clear he's doing something with his tongue, anyway. Still, his fingers look like he's doing some hammering so...?

HEY JOE is actually an old folk song , but Hendrix covered it and made it his own.

Not the '70's. This was 1967. Hendrix was way ahead of the curve. Still is.

By 1970 Jimi Hendrix was Beyond tired of that song. And a few other songs From the same Album. He was writing more Complex songs by late 69 Into 1970.

Jimi was left handed, but, instead of restringing his guitar, he simply played it upside down. Did I say "simply?" The only person who comes close to Jimi's talent and style was Stevie Ray Vaughn.

That's a myth. He DID restring to play left handed. He used a regular right handed Strat upside down but with the strings re-strung to be correct. That doesn't diminish his genius. You won't find a bigger Hendrix fan than me.

"Joe or Jimi?" What the hell??? Did you *not* know this was a cover??? Did you not read *anything* about this song? Jimi hated violence, and was a very gentle human being. You should know that if nothing else. But Jimi's own music and lyrics in other songs are outstanding, you'll see. Okay take care, and thanks to reacting to such a great artist!!

Performance Wise, this is one of Jimi's best performances. Musically, You thought this was good? This is nowhere near his best performance as good as this was. You want to hear Jimi go ape shit alien mode? There's plenty of performances and songs that he did that can prove that but I'ma start you off slow with it. Check out his version of the Star Spangled banner at Woodstock 69... Hendrix is currently the God of electric guitar. Nobody came close to the impression he left on the world. He was a true guitar mystic. Other worldly guitarist! kzread.info/dash/bejne/kWdlm82Kj6qxl8Y.htmlsi=NsPAkFGpNrWoLxvD
