Background on the song Empress Joy The song was written by Stephen Stills with help from Richard Curtis and Michael Curtis. In the CSN boxed set, Stills explained: "The Curtis Brothers brought a wonderful song called 'Seven League Boots,' but it drifted around too much. I rewrote a new set of words and added a different chorus, a story about a long boat trip I took after my divorce. It's about using the power of the universe to heal your wounds. Once again, I was given somebody's gem and cut and polished it."

Crosby, Stills and Nash will always exist, even if the members pass, their beautiful harmonies are legend. Funny, I am 69, remember when this song came out in 1982, and it is still as breathtakingly beautiful to me today as it was when I first heard it..

One of my all time favorite bands especially when they teamed up with Neil Young! Empress you will enjoy listening to Crosby Stills and Nash singing live at Woodstock the song titled “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” it’s an absolute joy to hear especially the live from Woodstock version! They are a mixture of rock and folk. David Crosby passed away in January of this year and the other two are still alive. Thank you for a wonderful reaction for perfect Sunday listening to song while cooking!

@@EMPRESSJOYJEAN Not a commonly known label of music. Yacht rock is a broad music style commonly associated with soft rock, one of the most commercially successful genres from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s. Drawing on sources such as smooth soul, smooth jazz, R&B, and disco, common stylistic traits include high-quality production, clean vocals, and a focus on light, catchy melodies.

One of their last big hits and also one of my personal favorites! ate dinner at a table next to Stephen Stills and Kenny Wayne Shepperd in Shreveport, LA about 8 years ago; my wife knew Kenny Wayne as she'd booked him for a big concert a couple of years earlier so she went over to say hi and ended up visiting with them for 15 minutes.
