This track was, and still is, a whole mood.

I remember when Christopher Cross's first album came out in 1979 & we all bought a copy. The whole album was good with one hit after another including "Sailing", "Ride Like The Wind", "Never Be The Same", "Say You'll Be Mine" etc. He won 4 Grammy Awards for it. He released a 2nd album in 1983 with a few hits on it. But sadly after that his fame declined. Success came quickly, all at once & then suddenly faded. Too bad as he was very talented.

His interview on Rick Beato the other month is amazing. He is 74 and looks 20 years younger than that. Huge talent.

Christopher Cross won five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist, with Cross becoming the first artist to win the four major categories in the same year - a feat not replicated until Billie Eilish in 2020.

And this is live too. It just shows how talented Christopher Cross is.

I met Christopher and his band once at a local jazz spot called The Ramshead in Annapolis, MD. This was years after the prime of his career. He is the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. He didn't hesitate at all to take a picture with me and my husband. But the most amazing thing was that his voice had not declined AT ALL after all those years. There are other great songs in his catalogue as well.

It's SOFT ROCK, which existed BEFORE some clown decided to call it "Yacht Rock".

I know Christopher Cross had a song I'll always remember and share; "Think Of Laura", Ashley. This one; "Sailing", is definitely a Christopher Cross song. Another of my favorites is "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)". This is nice listening to "Sailing", Ashley.

Christopher Cross has a number of hits collaborated with Michael McDonald on a couple of projects.

Back before he was famous, Christopher Cross filled in when the Deep Purple guitarist was unable to play in a concert in Texas. The first few times I heard this, I thought he was talking about the canvas of a painting, only later realizing it was the canvas of the sails. Doh!

This song is so beautiful!! NSYNC did a great cover of this song. I took my daughters (who were 12 & 11) at the time and they did that song. They were on harnesses and flew out through the middle of the crowd. It was really cool!

There's no such thing as "Yacht Rock". I guess if I call Soft Rock "Train Rock" because I feel like it's what people traveling on trains might listen to, then "Train Rock" jumps into existence to replace Soft Rock. Stop the parroting. Stop the insanity.
