You guys are awesome. Seriously, I remember subscribing to your channel back right before you guys had to regroup and live back in PA in order to make ends meet. Now you’re leaving Cali again for PA but moving into a friggin mansion, with super cars and super bikes. I don’t love Ducati’s or carbon fiber as much as you, but I love your positive attitude on everything. Sets a good example and keeps me engaged. I’m in PA and would love to ride out for a meet when you guys are ready. I know the stress of the move and big life changes (and taking risks) can be crippling at times. Kudos to you guys for staying positive and keeping the content coming.

I'm a big fan of the Evo-Tec range of kit, very high quality. I've also fitted Evo-Tec frame sliders, Tail tidy & front axle protection. A quick side note about the quick shifter: the current generation of quick shifters (especially on large CC and high-torque engines) will always buck between both 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd especially at lower RPMs (4-5-6 have less torque and are pretty smooth). This is because QS’s are not a luxury item but rather a racing enhancement: the higher the RPMs, the smoother the quick shifter becomes. I prefer to use the clutch from 1st-2nd and while at low speeds/RPMs, and save the QS for hard acceleration and high RPMs.

Beautiful bike. Only monster I have ridden is an 821 with an Akra exhaust and that sound was amazing. I have noticed some funkiness with the quick shifter on the 2020 Diavel 1260 S. I have hit false neutrals down shifting between 3rd to 2nd, and 2nd to 1st, and today had one when I was on the freeway and tried to shift up into 6th. Have had a couple of those lags/ lurches when shifting, but more false neutrals than it having that delay in shifting. Wish I was closer to Santa Barbara to check out your Lambo Diavel, just dont have time to do a 6 hour round trip on Saturday.

Jaret, steering head shake you talked about 10-11min mark. I never felt that on a 2016 Monster 1200 R that I demo rode here at Grattan raceway trackday few years ago. She felt planted and fine from my experience during the 3 sessions demo riding her! Speedo read 162MPH down the straight and panicked a bit as I missed my brake marker for turn#1. Yo those brakes worked awesome and were all the hype. Slowed down tipped her in, kept trail braking into the corner and no problem. Awesome bike! I recommend getting tank grips, really helps during cornering and braking so ya nutz dont get smashed! :)

The head shake doesn't bother me. It not as bad as the old fork flex. Doing 140, its solid. The streetfighter has a black handlebar that looks like the same profile as the Monster. Dont use the quick shifter above 4th. If you downshift too quickly with the quickshifter, it will lurch forward. It took me awhile to get used to how far you can lean with this bike. The bike always wants to go faster in turns. The seat has blocks that you can take out to make it sit lower. I had a 5' 2" rider comfortable on my 1200s The lever next to the left thumb will toggle whats displayed on the left and right hand displays depending on up or down. Get used to the bike in touring mode before you put it in sport. In sport mode, the front wheel comes off the ground frequently. Lean forward.

Hey Jaret, Ducati Superbikes have the greatest front fenders on any bike, i.e. 999/749, 1098 etc. The fender to tire diameter clearance is amazing. Suggestion would be to pit one on the Monster build, CF of course.

  • @DucatiJohn

Pretty much spot on review. The front end is a bit light. Had that with all my Monsters. Now that I ride the 1200 you notice it even more because of the torque the engine produces. If there is one thing I would like Ducati to work on with the Monster it would be the mirrors. At high speed they’re pretty much useless because of the vibration. That would be my only complaint. Otherwise the Monster is my go to bike. This will be my last Monster though. Next bike will definitely be a Multistrada. I live in the Netherlands near the Belgium and German border. The rides to these places is awesome. On the Monster they’re great, and I would think they would even be better on a Multistrada. Good luck with the build, and hope the move to Pennsylvania goes smoothly.

I've been looking at and thinking of, on the reggie, the Ducati monster. Well more than ANY OTHER that I've checked out, and it's been alot, I trust YOUR thoughts and reviews by far. Can't wait to see what you design with this one. I've seen some SICK AF monsters. But Campisi custom is always one of a kind. Anyway, lemme go see what you think about it. Stay safe guys

I had a Monster back in the day, and I always felt it needed a steering damper. The only benefit of not installing one is, the shake kept me from going felony speeds. 😉

I do like that exhaust BUT I don't like the duel muffers on it...covers too much of the single sided swing arm

I have a 2018 Monster 1200S, great engine but the quickshifter is pretty agricultural. Ducati say it’s a “racing” quickshifter, well this is not a race bike so what’s the point! You definitely have to learn how to shift, typically the quickshifter works better at higher RPMs, so when going slower is best to use the clutch. The front end issue is as mentioned in this video, the bike feels unstable and nervous, again you have to learn how to ride it especially if you wanna push it. Its a fun bike, torque for days but the fact that still in 2020 Ducati don’t include a steering damper on a motorcycle like this is inexcusable. Interesting fact the 1200s sold in Europe comes with the steering damper from the factory, in amarica it DOESN’T. Look forward to seeing what this Monster build is going to become.

yeah so it makes my happy to hear its not just me BUT I have to agree...these should come with a steering damper and that quick shifter should be a bit more smooth for street riding

Hey @Jaret, what do you think about the path Ducati is heading to? V4, no trellis/ tubular frame, no single sided swing arm, spring valves instead of desmo... What about the new Monster 2021? As a Ducati fan (Multistrada 1200 here), I feel a bit dissapointed.

That reminds one of the Corvair, at speed the front lifts and i think it's dangerous. I don't have that problem on my 2015 Honda Rebel, lol. She's a cruiser tho.😏

I have a 1200s i definitely noticed the head shake but it wasn’t that bad to me, i still went and got a steering damper from Ducati but im not a big fan of it, i have to manually adjust it and its hard doing that on the go to have a stiff damper at high speeds but a soft damper at low speeds for maneuvering. Constantly gotta wind or unwind it

So exited for this series! I would definitely keep this type of handlebars instead of clip-on ones.. just a little question, if you use different height handlebar risers could it help the feeling with the front wheel? Like little lower ones than the originals? On the other hand could this mod interfere with the tank at max turn angle or make suspension adjustments harder? It's a mod that i'm looking to also for my MM1100EVO.. Cheers!
