I don't see what the big deal is about the weight. For me, it feels fine. This bike is actually more comfortable than the cruiser I had. Totally in love with this thing. It looks beautiful and had a lot of sexy ass lines. And dude, torque for days! This baby has a lot of pull. I couldn't be happier.

It is heavy because the frame is made of steel. The fz8's frame and the z1000 are aluminium for example. But because the center of gravity is very low, the bike doesn't feel so heavy. Actually it feels very solid and agile while riding.

Weight can work for a bike too, if it's in the correct position. It can enhance stability, smooth out bumps in the road and help the bike to turn.

I love that they brought the headlights back to something more in line with the 1st gen Z1000/Z750. Don't get me wrong, I think the current Z1000 is gorgeous but the 1st gen will always be my favorite.

Have tested this bike here in Malaysia. Being only 5'6", I was really intimidated initially, but once it started rolling, it feels like riding a 250cc! Heavyweight? Forgotten. Corners? So easy to turn in, it's almost telepathic. Smooth buttery gearbox that clicks instead of clacking like on other Kawas.

The weight is disappointing, but I still wish they released this here in the States. I would love to have this as a backup/daily bike. I think the styling aces the Z1000, and I love the girth of information on the new gauges!

In the flesh the Z800 visually looks so much more interesting than the Z1000. I'm about to order one of these two (px'ing an 09 Z750) but I just can't decide between the them. I guess back to back test rides will give the answer.

I would love to see this bike come to the US. I think more people could enjoy the 800 engine, the 1000 is just more engine than what is useful in this sort of platform. It needs to go on a serious diet though.

up to you but the z750 in any spec has always had a rather dodgy write up, is it worth a discount to end up with a questionable bike? you have to decide whether you are gonna kick yourself in a month or so's time if you go for the old 750. Personally if i was on a budget i would rather buy a z1000 on low mileage and a few years old than buy a new 750, that is if your a kwak fan, if your not fussed about brands then you should look at the street triple a thoroughly awesome bike.

Great video - really wanted to like this bike, but the weight, child-like styling and boring engine tone from the sound of the video really means it doesn't grab me at all the way the Street Triple (which I have) and Ducati Streetfighter 848 do.

Wow, such a big difference compared to Z750 Neeves?! I never liked the 750 either, went for 650R instead (er6f). The only reason they sold shi$loads of them in europe was the price - it was the cheapest in it's class, and had the most power.

The 2003 Z1000 is the best modern 'Z', certainly worthy of the original 70's design criteria... Other than it looks far too generic, much like the last 750 \ 1000 model, I'm not sure about this latest Z800 as I've not ridden one... but the last two Z750's were appalling to ride, absolutely gutless with awful suspension ( and that includes the 'R' ) !!

I'll tell you. Due to lighter weight materials and such that are now being used in engines in the last 5 years or so, analog tachs simply cannot keep up with how fast modern sport bike engines can change RPM. You may like the way they look but your tach would never be accurate under any form of race performance. It would always be behind the current engine speed. They ran into a similar problems with the Nissan GT-R. I would prefer my tach to be accurate, not "old fashioned" and wrong.
