i love how this coach instructs. I see so much improvement since she began doing dressage and I’m sure her jumping skills will as well with this coach.

I never understood the difference Dressage makes until they started doing it. I only wish the girls started in Dressage when they first started riding, but where we are, Dressage lessons are hard to find. I'm glad they are doing them now, though. I think it will compliment what their other coaches are doing.

Very good lesson. Hard work for horse and rider. No whining or complaining. Excellent! You could tell when they were getting tired. Good job Kate for pushing through it. Good observant coach! I like her arm and hand position. She needs to work on her wings/elbows. LOL But overall pretty good. It will come. Good job everyone!

I couldn't have said it any better. Kate was awesome. I just wonder did they give up on Duke. Duke really needs these lessons, especially with the great coaches they have. Great job Kate, so proud of you. You are sooo lucky with the coaches your parents got for you, you are an amazing rider. What a very mature, smart young lady......I am your biggest fan.

No, we definitely haven't given up on Duke. Kate uses him for Dressage and will eventually transfer these skills to him for jumping, but right now, he doesn't enjoy jumping. As their riding and balance improves with Dressage, that might change for him, or it might not. He will be her Dressage horse, because he really loves flat work and Kate wants to work towards showing in both jumping and Dressage. We will see, but Stevie really enjoys jumping right now.

@@BarnBootsandCountryRoots Oh I didn't know. Duke will do great in dressage. Stevie is a great horse, never gives Kate any problems. The audio was good. That coach really talks a lot. I am glad Kate got everything he said, cause I would have been lost lol. Do her coaches tell her what shows are coming up and will they be there. I meant to ask is Kate still working at the barn?

Yes, her coaches tell her about shows coming up. It will just depend on scheduling and if the horses are ready, but we absolutely plan on showing this summer. Some of the shows are judged by her coaches, which means she can still do them for the practice, but cannot be judged for actual placing because of the conflict of interest. That said, there are lots of other shows she can do as well. In terms of her coaches being at the shows, the Dressage coach is possibly going to have the chance to compete for Team Canada at the Paralympics this summer, so if she does, she might not be available… but we are so excited for her and would be thrilled to cheer her on! Kate is still volunteering at the training barn every week, and gives up part of her weekend to go, but she loves the experience and working with the horses and people there, so it is worth it.

Stevie reminds me so much of my pony a few years ago. His default is idle and he much prefers to just dawdle round. However after a few years of hard work he is now super forward and really loves his work!! Given more time and training Stevie is going to be so fabulous and Kates hard work will pay off!!

I don't know the posibilitys from kate's horse? Because it's not so big, but there are small horses who can jump high. So i think kate could do crosscountry, but witch hight??? That will depend of her horse. In the netherlands/ belgium the crosscountry competitions always have diferent categorys, like for example 60cm or 90cm or higher in the same course but diferent obstacles. And in training friends competitions sometimes they are 40cm, for beginners.

Even in europe wintertime stops almost all training and competition. I understand that in that big Canada it's not so easy to find a good coach nearby, not like in the netherlands where are plenty of academys and many horse trainers who has passed the difcult tests to be able to teach others. And i understand also that 3,5K on YT is not the same if you should have 25K or 100 or more. In the netherlands there are amazones who's job is horses and KZread. This esme in UK with +900K don't has to have a normal work. People like that are asked in international press sites. They go everywhere for longines, fei....to make interviews and visit horseshows.🥰

Yes, winter slows things down for sure. Where we are, we have to drive about an hour to lessons. Covid didn't help because many barns just couldn't sustain a business with the lockdowns, which meant the barns that did stay open filled up. It is hard to find any lesson program with openings. We are very lucky to have the coaches we do. We love them all.

We still ride at our other barns as well, but Kate is doing private lessons with two coaches, an Eventer who we saw in a clinic and a Dressage coach who is currently working at qualifying for the Canadian Paralympic team. We made these connections through Kate’s volunteer work at the training facility for the Grand Prix horses. It is just to broaden her knowledge and experience. We love all our coaches. This is the barn of the one coach.
