Wonderful reaction! This performance was from a Russian show that aired in the fall of 2021, and ran for 9 weeks. Diana was 18 at this time. There were 9 singers who were also the judges and critiqued each other. There were 9 genres of music they had to perform over the course of the show. Thus Diana sang in many different styles. Diana is 15 years old in the following video, singing a cover of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game, giving it a more "tribal" sound. She's a contralto, even at the age of 15, has a unique and otherworldly voice, and a commanding stage presence. She is performing on the Russian TV show You Are Super, a show for disadvantaged children to display their talents that they otherwise would not be able to. Diana (dee-ah-na) was abandoned by her abusive mother at the age 3 and placed in an orphanage, diagnosed with cognitive impairment. Her adoptive mother had her enroll in singing lessons to help with some speech problems due to abuse and neglect. Greetings from Scotland! Nice pronunciation! This is the normal effect that Diana has on first time listeners! She has the power to take away speech and reality as we know it! In all my years (I'm 70) I have never heard a female voice like this! I have followed her career fr nearly 8 years now and she surprised me continually as her vocal abilities became ever stronger and more flexible. She NEVER stops experimenting and improving. Diana is 20yo now, soon to be 21yo, but I've been following her career since she was around 13yo. Diana is a natural *Dramatic Contralto* so the lower registers are her comfort zone but she has increased her range even more since this. She also naturally sings with *polyphonic overtones* so it sounds like many voices at the same time! Any song, any genre, in any language, Diana can sing it and improve it! You need a little back story to understand what helped "create" this unique phenomenon:- Diana's awful birthmother had multiple miscarriages, but when Diana came along, she seemed to hate her! She verbally and physically abused her, trying to drown her and belittle her. It all culminated when (at 3yo) a passing relative found her in her home with a broken collarbone and several other injuries. She went for the authorities who removed Diana from her birthmothers care and placed her in an orphanage. For almost 2 years Diana never gave up hope and she knew that she was meant for something better. (This story is in her Wikipedia entry) Finally her new mother (Irina Ponik, who worked as a masseuse there occasionally) Signed her adoption papers and took her home. She vowed to pay Irina back for her kindness. Irina had a real struggle because Diana had obviously been badly affected by the experiences and at 5yo, she had a very bad stammer. It was recommended that she be taken for singing lessons to help this and immediately it was recognised that Diana had perfect pitch and an excellent ear for music and songs. 1 year later, at 6yo, Diana was performing solo on stage! @@louisminten7889 Agreed! Unlikely she would have lived to see 4yo! She had multiple physical injuries and was severely traumatised mentally too. Fate is fascinating, how it makes choices! One small change of plan, one second difference in your routine can be catastrophic or beneficial - always fascinating possibilities. Diana was being guided and she knew that. Smart young lady!

This performance was my first listen of Diana as well. A pro vocal coach had posted a short about it, and I felt curious. There was a slight hint at what I was about to hear, but nothing could’ve prepared me for that incredible voice. Her utterly rich tone floored me, and I became a major fan very quickly.
