Fun Fact on the turn Eilidh gets trampled over by a sentient stump of wood: Ancestral Mask only counts *other* enchantments. So it should only count 18. But don't worry, I don't just bring bad news: it gives +2/+2 per enchantment (yes it's that busted), and the Eidolon counts your creatures AND your auras. So the Knight should've been 10 (base) + 1 (Royal) + 36 (Ancestral Mask) + 19 (Eidolon) = 76/76 with Trample and Vigilance. So...a really big stump of wood.

Lexi: I'm just gonna go ahead and play all of the enchantment discounters. Also Lexi: I play fair magic, though, so I'm still gonna pay full price for everything.

It's nice to see only two commander decks with the upcoming set! Very cool seeing the same decks being played at the same time. Also, some of my favourite guests! Great game.

I like the way you guys split up the commanders, gives you a real good look at the interactions between new cards and old combos!

The sheer amount of painful irony, watching as Eli says, out loud, "is there any more triggers after combat?" and then proceeds to pick up and inspect her commander and just completely ignore the 2nd half of their text box is nuts. She even said that's the only reason she was willing to play the commander. 😭

Spindowns aren't weighted for rolling. Because all of the double digit numbers are on one side of the die, it will naturally be heavier on the opposite side. This leads to a statistically significant increase in the average outcome of rolls. Now, when it comes to rolling to determine first go in a game of Magic, it doesn't matter so long as everyone is using a spindown.

I had to double back but that Paradise Druid tapped the turn it came out!! Can't say I haven't done that myself more than a few times lol. Great game! Can't wait to get my decks for my Fiance and I!!

Also midnight clock gets a counter on each upkeep, not just Eili.

From outside a game it is always easier to make threat assessment, but in game you just don't know. Every person feels threatened in a commander game by diferent things, and you don't know their hands either. Maybe they have a plan you possibly could not know about.

I brawled faerie precon vs that enchantress deck and got steamrolled first game. In the second game I got enough bounce and counter spells to stay competitive, but I never felt in control until I got the mass bounce spell that sent all the token critters back to hand. CAT OX BIRD DOES BOUNCE

For the record it is actually a fact that d20s are more random than spindowns, however if everyone is using the same type of die it doesn't really mattter.

I mean I don’t care what die people use, but spindowns are provably less fair. A spindown is basically just a coin, all the good numbers and bad numbers are on opposite sides of the dice. Which is the opposite of what you want in a fair dice. Because now you only have to aim for the good half of the die. While a normal d20 is fairly distributing the numbers. To check the fairness just add up opposing sides of the dice. The two opposing sides should always add up to 21 on a fair d20. Same goes for 7 on a d6, 9 on a d8, and 13 on a d12. Technically, the d10 breaks this rule, but that’s just because d10s are used for percentile rolls.

On the discussion of Bastion, in the event I ever make a "solitaire" style deck, I will name it Master Bastion. If you read the name quickly and use your imagination, you will discover why I chose that name. On the other hand of precons, I'm glad you ladies started showing precon EDH games now. It's an exciting way to get a feel for what they will do, while also assisting in the decision of whether or not to buy one/them.

this is the 2nd game I've watched with the new precons and mirror matching? Can't lie, it definitely feels like these precons weren't built to run against each other? Could've just been these two games, but each time the enchantment decks' sheer value and bigness just absolutely BODIES the faeries.

That Game was insane and off the fricken stratosphere of enchantment bonkery!!!! Like so much enchantments and stuff hahaha EPIC!! Everyone played the decks brilliantly and uniquely. I would however like to point out one small detail which would have changed damaged and I think the game in a way. So when Olivia's Timbertree Paladin became a 10/10 at base with Vigilance and Trample due to the 3 Auras attached to it. It's overall power was 59/59. 15 x 2=30 from the enchantment giving it +2/+2 for each enchantment, 9 x 1 = 9 twice equalling 18 from the bestow creature giving it +1/+1 for each creature Olivia controlled and also another lot of +1/+1 for each aura Olivia controlled as well. check it out at the video mark 46:40 and correct me if i'm wrong please :) Otherwise Brilliant game 10/10 everyone smashed it, editing was fantastic! Can't wait for the next game! :)

Okay that i'm just some recalculations and there are I think about 17 enchantments in plays at this time. man this game is so busted!

My LGS is getting the Bastion XLs in a couple weeks and I'm so stoked to try them out! If I end up liking them imma buy 5 clears and the big Dungeon!

14:32 you should have played your commander first, put the token aura in your creature, attack, untap lands, draw a card because of your commander and do more damage because of the token aura, then play the other creature.

4:01 Proving a die and how it is thrown is random, it doesn’t matter mathematically how it is thrown. It’s only when people try to game a spindown does it become unfair.

Hey all, quick question. I have been wanting to get into playing magic online like this and am wondering what program is used not just in EDHijinks but in general. Nothing wrong with playing instants at sorcery speed. Nothing quite so satisfying as overloading a Cyclonic Rift precombat on a loaded boardstate and thumping the table.

Didn't Eilidh goad the Timber Paladin, just the turn before? So Olivia shouldn't have been able to swing that big boy her way. It looked like a lot of things happened in between, so it's a reasonable mistake.

Just replaying part of the clip back, and she attacked Lexi. So I think she can only goad a creature that defending player player controls, so that makes sense. I think I got confused by my own concerns about Olivia's board state, and it was just wishful thinking if I was in their position 😂 My mistake, you're right.

Only for the engagement :p It really feels like Eilidh could have survived longer if she goaded differently- or at all. But apart from that, super enjoyable as always

Actually, I think the commander that got a bunch of cards to consider is Galea, the commander that can play cards off the top of the library. Other commanders that got some stuff are Alela and an old-school commander, Uril (he gets +2/+2 for every enchantment and can't be blocked by creatures with lesser power).

not sure olivia counted her own enchantments for ancestral mask....

So, Olivia is "technically" correct about the Spin-Down vs the D20. However I think the argument here is whether a Spin-Down is randomized the way a D20 is. However, they are both Ichosahedrons. As for, "what does the D mean?" The D in D20 stands for Die. As in, Die4, Die6, Die8, Die10, Die12, and Die20. I come from D&D, so while I understand, and agree with the fact that a Spin-Down is not a D20, I imagine, since this is to determine who goes first in a card game, IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER. This roll doesn't effect a narrative, or a critical part in a story. So, as the DM, I'll allow it.

Obligatory Contrary comment for the algorithm and Olivia's suffering; For someone not interested in cheating, the difference is actually slight at best; A full "tumble" roll will be fairly "random" as physical dice can be. For those people, most people, a spin-down IS in fact just a d20. On the flip side, for the cheaters and advantage seekers, a spin down is significantly easier to cheat with. Between "Side Rolls" and palm-checking the die before letting it roll allows a significantly better control of the die and because of the layout of a spin down. It also drastically increases the odds that you'll get a closer to desirable (higher) roll. As a long-time table-top player I am very anti-spin down for sessions but rolling for first in MTG? It's fine.

I'm writing this before I watched the outcome of the game: Ellivere is BUSTED! I've watched 2 precon game videos and she won both easy. that is not to say Alela. Gylwain and Tegwyll aren't fantastic, they are, but Ellivere is the best of these. Now, I'm not gonna name the channels I've watched because that would ruin it for people that might want to watch those videos since I spoiled the outcome already. Now on to the video!

Is it me or they completely forgot about Alela's second ability : that she can goad the target creature of every opponent that got damaged by a fairy .... 😅 ?

Well concerning the use of life counters to roll, they not random and they aren't balanced to roll. You could technically practice the perfect roll to get 20 every time.
