Why are we acting like Hawkgirl and Guy’s suits are adaptions of their comic suits? It’s SO glaringly obvious that there’s a narrative function for those suits. It’s exhausting.

I heard the suits were made by Maxwell lord for justice league international and they’re tryna recruit Superman but he convinces them to be actual hero’s and work independently but also starts the real justice league.

Hoping that Superman will inspire Guy and Hawkgirl to wear their old suits and help him by the end of the movie🤞🏽

I think the intentionally ugly idea has some merit, but not for being ugly. I think the suits are intentionally corporate looking. Perhaps in this world the superhero business has been commodified by corporations such as Lord Tech and the heroes in their employ are dressed to look like corporate puppets going through the motions. Then the bright and colourful Superman comes along with his unwavering optimism and changes all that.

I can see that. When you look at them all together, Superman really stands out from the pack in very much a good way, and narratively speaking, I think that's completely by design.

That would be cool. Especially because it would speak on the modern corporate bending of the superhero film genre.

The point of getting to see set photos on a movie like Superman is to geek out on what a particular photo could mean. Too much time is being put into something that we do not have any context about. We do not know how long Kendra and Guy are wearing these uniforms. Will they wear them the entire movie or just the scene that we were lucky enough to see. What we should be focused on is the Intel we got from the set photos. Which is what does the connection between Michael, Kendra and Guy to Maxwell Lord actually mean? To me that's the interesting thing that most are not spending enough time on.

I think the reason why those costumes looks so cheap is because the team is headed by a corporation run by Maxwell Lord. Its probably his idea of making them look more human and relatable to the general public. I could see them getting some better looking costumes later after Superman and Batman take the lead as members of the justice league.

Gunn is like a magician… he gonna show u what he wants u to See… which means the surprises are goin to be epic … I take that thougt we all these set photos .. .Gunn a freakin Genius .. this movie is already in yaw heads …

I won’t judge yet, these see clearly the proto-suits, the very first suits they were when they are recruited by and probably manipulated by Maxwell Lord, they will for sure get more comic accurate suits later on in the film or another film.

Definitely how I feel too, I remember someone, maybe it was an artist at the studio or like someone on set I don’t remember, talking about their excitement for people to see the characters suits, I doubt these are what they were talking about cause these are uniforms for a group, definitely not the characters as individuals

Loving all the costumes it's giving me OG Comic Vibes especially Hawkgirl & guy gardner reminds me heavily of Justice League International

I swear I'm going to lose my mind with these costume conversations. This reminds me of The Flash costume in Batman vs. Superman that caused all this uproar when: A. It wasn't The Flash's movie in the first place. B. WTF, can people let these characters grow!? There was plenty time for the character to start with the suit in BvS and evolve into his oh-so-comic-accurate costume. My god people don't want to let these characters grow, it seems some just want the characters to show up already fully their 100% comic accurate selves. I call it the Marvel effect. As soon as ANY character first comes on the screen, by the end of their first movie, they've reached peak max potential with story and costume.... leaving no where for the character to go in future sequels. Which is why Marvel is HEAVILY dependant on exposition to lead the story of sequels because the characters themselves have nowhere to go. My god, let these characters be flawed, let these characters go through change. OBVIOUSLY Maxwell Lord has this team in his uniform of whatever they're supposed to be, but who cares, each one of those characters have the next 10 years to get comic accurate, but can they start somewhere? Lord people are exhausting.

what if, instead of the terrifics or the justice league, the team is called the Justice Lords (a play on lordtech, includes the JL logo, and is a nod to a anti-hero/anti-villain Justice Lords from the DCAU and comics).after the events of the movie, the team becomes independent and guy and hawkgirl form JLI and terrific and metamorpho form the terrifics.

Yea i personally in they movie guy will bring up the fact that he’s not into the uniform and eventually they’ll just go bck to they’re original fits or make they’re own

Ever since James Gunn said that he expected the set leaks and wouldn’t film any significant spoiler plot points in the middle of the city, I stopped thinking too hard about it the photos. Someone who visited the set a while ago (one of the comic writers I think?) even tweeted recently that everything we are seeing is “nothing” compared to what’s actually in store

If you look at the Lord Tech logo close you see JL, Justice League logo?

Why would hawkgirl need a new outfit her mace and helmet are made from nth metal the strongest metal in the DC universe?

Most are quick to judge or not analyzing these leaks hard enough! I'm Not defending the suits n do they look cheap?! Yes! But Knowing that these 3 suits carrying the same logos with corporate looks which they're obviously working for n on it's payroll.. raise interesting questions n audiences will be curious enough to check it out.... "intriguing plot". Btw...are they ugly?...only when ure comparing to their OG designs.. that's why not many criticize mr.terrific costume.. I'm sure Mr.terrific designed those customes to look similar to his but different colors n funded by Maxwell Lord...

Actually, I think the real problem with all of this is that it speaks of someone who doesn't know the DCU and instead is trying to wrap it around ideas that he already has. I mean, he could be going for a Kingdom Come thing. But using current, smaller, lower budget iterations, rather than a huge world building Kingdom Come universe.

Has no one noticed that the Lordtech logo is a "JL" - as in Justice League? It seems to me that Hawkgirl and Guy are wearing branded uniforms. Closer looks reveal just how much the two costumes look alike. I'm sure if Max were a real person and he saw this he'd kick himself for not thinking of branded uniforms back in the 80s when he formed Justice League International.

I wish that the dcu would partner with JJ Supersuits. Their output is always on point and their designs are great.

If the Black Noir figure is thought to be a clone of Superman, then what if their all clones and Superman is set to free them? Just a thought.....

If the premis is a reverse of Kingdom Come, then this makes sense. This is a younger Superman showing a world that corporatized meta humans and government sponsored teams, what a hero should be. By the end of this movie, we will probably see these heroes ditch Lord tech and other "sponsors" after being inspired by Supermans example. So you're not supposed to "like" their suits. That means it's working. If Guy, Hawkgirl ect. were born into a world that already corpratized heros years ago (maybe decades) than the corporate and government sponsored heros would be the only examples to base their experiences and choices on, at least until Superman shows up and starts trying to show the world a better way. He sews the seeds for them pulling a way from the corporate and gov influences and really developing their own identities as heros.😅

I’m hoping for Dax Shepard to play Booster Gold.

Superman soup looks amazing. The others so far are disappointing. However, I’m 1000% sure the story and movie itself will make up for the slight disappointment in wardrobe. James gunn never disappoints.

It seems that the JL will be established without Batman, because he will not appear in the DCU until after 3 years, and he will be the last person to join them. 😂😂, cuz it's weird that Batman will not get his first appearance in the DCU until after 2027, As all the characters at the time got their own films and joined the JL, except Batman will be the last to organize them, even though he's a founding member with Superman.

I think Guy Gardner is gonna get blicked halfway into the movie lol yeah the suits aren’t my favorite but I’d like to see them in motion with special effects before I harshly judge

I really love the Superman and Mr Terrific suit But the Hawkgirl and Green Lantern costumes I found underwhelming The leather looks cheap and the color scheme looks like it would be a Video Game pre order bonus or something you get after finding like 10 collectibles and you'll use it once because it's new and then never again when I think of Hawkgirl I think of the Justice League/Justice League Unlimited Cartoons and other Animations My hope is that at least her wings will look like organic wings, even if they are mechanical they always look like real wings even when they aren't, I really hate the Hawk Man costume and wings in Black Adam outside of the Helmet it looked like a golden version of Falcons suit like the wings and the lack of green

Not a fan of what I see, but I'm trying to keep an open mind. I'm just patiently waiting to see what the Batman aspect of the DCU is gonna look like. If Batman's wearing blue and trunks, I'm done. Unfortunately. I fear that's exactly what's gonna happen. Hell, at this point I'm expecting see Robin in green undies and fairy shoes with a yellow cape. It feels like James Gunn is setting these characters back 50 or 60 years, and it doesn't feel good.

I hope that for the DCU batman wears Grey and black OR a darker blue and grey, I'd be good with either, because I'm tired of EVERY SINGLE live action batsuit being pure black, or black and DARK DARK grey, don't get me wrong I love a good full black suit for batman BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CAN WE TRY ANYTHING ELSE FOR ONCE, I think people are forgetting how fantastical and goofy DC is and has ALWAYS been, we need to embrace what makes the DC universe so good instead of constantly watering it down so that it can be viewed by a wider audience, LIKE WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE DC BORING, GROUNDED, AND UNORIGINAL, HAVE YA EVER HEARD OF A LITTLE THING CALLED........ Batman wearing blue is just absurd to me. I don't want a full black suit. I just don't think it looks right. We've only had one live action Batman wear the. traditional black and gray, so that's definitely not been overdone. DC hasn't really been that goofy over the past couple decades. There's been a lot of serious, dark and often very violent stories told by DC in the past couple decades, man. Fantastical is fine, but I don't want a bunch of goofy, campy, corny horse shit. I see DC as being more "R rated". The world Zack Snyder was creating with Man of Steel, BvS and Justice League was the furthest thing from boring and unoriginal as far as I'm concerned. I'm 41 years old and those movies was the first time in my life I actually found Superman to be an interesting character. The perfect big blue boy scout thing is just hokey to me and it feels dated. Getting into a serious story with interesting characters that are also being taken seriously is fun to me. I just feel that if you're not gonna present these characters and stories in a serious, grounded manner and make them feel as real as possible, there's no reason to adapt them into live action to begin with.

@@ojmcclanahan689 I'm all for a dark and gritty DC story, which is why I'm so excited for the new DCU because James Gunn said that all of the shows and movies aren't gonna feel exactly the same (like marvels do) and the new DCU is gonna have a multitude of stories to tell with different themes, levels of realism, and different writing, so when u really think about it no matter what type of DC story you like, there is always gonna be something for everyone to enjoy.. and yeah, while I do agree with the fact that superman as a character SHOULD be taken into much darker places, and have to grapple with shit like that, Zack Snyder had no fuckin clue what he was doing, the characters in his movies weren't even similar to the source material in any way except for maybe character design, it's practically like they pulled some rando off of the street that had only ever seen a picture of these characters before, and said "ok, so these characters have amazing personalities and *character* already.......so let's throw that out and make every single character completely different and alien from any iteration of these characters we have ever seen before", and not in a good way either, just dark and edgy to be dark and edgy for no reason at all, the DC universe SHOULD be just as dark, mature, and serious, as it is fantastical, humorous, and light-hearted. But one thing that many people don't understand is that dark and gritty DOES have a time and a place. When every single part of your universe is "dark and edgy" suddenly "dark and edgy" completely lose all meaning because if everything is Dark...than nothing is, and that is exactly what Zack Snyder just couldn't wrap his thick skull around, and MOST of the Zack Snyder D riders can't grasp that concept either. Superman and Wonder Woman were very similar to the versions of the characters in the New 52. Batman was pulled right out of the New Earth continuity post Killing Joke and Death In The Family, with a little Dark Knight Returns blended in. After Joker paralyzed Barbara Gordon and killed Jason Todd, Bruce lost himself for awhile. He went solo for a little over a year and during that time he wrecked some shit. He blew up cars that had goons in them. He used guns on the Batmobile. He even used goons as human shields against gunfire from other goons. It was pretty much the same thing we see in BvS. That's the whole reason Tim Drake basically forced himself into the Robin mantel. He felt like Batman needed a Robin. It was a big redemption arc for Batman. That's the direction Affleck's Batman was gonna take in the DCEU. Affleck's script for "The Batman" featured a crippled Barbara Gordon and Cassandra Cain Batgirl. They were also planning a Nightwing movie for the DCEU. We could have gotten some really interesting stories if people on the internet whose only knowledge of Batman comes from an animated TV series and a few movies made my Tim Burton and Chris Nolan. As an old comic fan who grew up during the time those stories came out, I was over the moon that I was gonna get to see a cinematic universe based on them. Unfortunately, people today would rather have bright colors and humor. Things today are way too safe and safe is boring as hell. Have a good one yourself, man!

I don’t understand why it’s hard to accept that these suits are supposed to look like shit. We’re not supposed to like them. Which will make it all the more sweet when they get their classic costumes. C’mon guys.

These costumes look very low budget. Some people think this is a cross between the Terrifics and JLI--the comedic series by Giffen and Dematteis, but Mr. Terrific is way too smart to be part of sold-out Superhero group. Sadly, these make the Superman costume look even worse.

ive heard plenty of times that theres a story purpose for the suits etc etc etc, but nobody is talking about how abysmal guy's hair looks, he just looks so bad and his hair looks super bleached, im honestly disappointed they went with the bowl cut instead of the sleek shaved sides

Stick to your integrity and don't post others' work you've already agreed you wouldn't. Even if it doesn't benefit you sometime down the line, its just the right thing to do, regardless if they're even enforcing copyright claims or not. That's your instinct and you're instinct is the way to go.

I am deeply interested in what you have to say, but I always think twice before tuning to your commentary because your arguments are a tad flowery and circumvent the airport a bit intensely. 3 hours for a commentary with this content could fit into 45 mins to an hour. Just providing some roses and thorns. I am a fan, but I need a commentary and then move on.

For me, supermans suit and Mr terrifics suit are top notch PEAK, but hawk girls and guy gardeners suits look kinda mid (even though they are Lord tech uniforms and most likely not the characters individual suits)

God that joker laugh is so annoying!

I’m convinced that James Gunn is purposely trying to make this Superman movie corny because those costumes look way too Halloweenish.

As always CW being the worst thing that happened to DC (I mean outside suicide squad and Jared Leto), everything is compared to CW to be downgraded

Boba - you're trying to go through hoops to explain why you don't like the suits. Just say it. Gunn has lost Film Junkee on this. Some of Campea's panel were laughing at GL thinking that look can't be real. The response to these latest shots is bad and even if it is a corporate suit surely they could have done better. The fate of this film depends on the first trailer as so far it is not winning the GA over. If the trailer gets a "mid" response watch for WBD to delay the film to tinker with it. A la Aquaman. Zaslav can't afford for the first film to significantly underperform. If WBD delays the film they'll use JW and FF as an excuse.

This is, unfortunately, James Gunn's style go back and look at the GOTG suits. There are a lot of similarities.

I still believe that it was a missed opportunity to cast Alan Ritchson as Guy Gardner I think he woulda been perfect
