First Hop Redundancy Protocol (FHRP) allow hosts to send data to the redundant router without needing to make any changes to their configuration.
To use FHRP, you configure your routers to be part of a group. The group is then assigned a virtual IP address and a virtual MAC address. These are used to communicate with the hosts.
If a host sends an ARP message for the default gateway, both routers receive it, but only one will respond. If that router is down, then the other redundant router will respond instead.
FHRP is a term to describe multiple protocols. HSRP, VRRP and GLBP are all classed as FHRPs.

I like how concise these vids are. A lot of other CCNA teachers make their videos 30-40+ minutes when the concept doesn't really need that long to elucidate.
Love your clear explanations and illustrations. Keeping it simple and to the point, that's how it should be!

If the ARP tables of User system is already updated with the Virtual router MAC address (.AC01) which will be assigned to the Active router at the moment, Then what is the point in updating the user systems with the Same MAC address (.AC01) when a standby router becomes active.
The slide at the 5:10 mark says version 2 multicast is 224.0.0.102 but the final summary table at the end of the video says 224.1.1.2, which is correct?
@Certbros

Great spot! I must have missed that when doing my final checks. The answer is 224.0.0.102. The summary is a typo. Thanks for letting me know 👌
which mac address is recognised as a VRRR virtual address? 0000.5e00.010a it's wild how most of the questions rely on memorisation of those tables

Series of switches used is really dependent on the situation. I couldn't advise I'm afraid.

If you want a general example I am working on a global office refresh just now and we are using C9200L-48PXG-4X-E in the access layer, stacked C9300-24-T-A for the core layer, FirePower2120-ASA Firewalls and ISR4451 routers for offices ranging 50 to 300 users.
99 problems but a switch ain't one 👍
