I am in the same position. Sold on the Canyon AT4 / Denali…should I even look at the Ranger Lariat 6 banger.

Great review thanks, I'm stoked to feel that 430 lb-ft of torque asap! I like these Canyons but the total price on that sticker says $48,725 and I got my ZR2 order with the price locked in at $45,300 and that's with sunroof, Bose sound system, $450 paint charge for desert sand metallic. The ZR2 comes with aggressive tires, the incredible Multimatic dampers/suspension, bed-liner, skid plates, cameras everywhere, leather interior all the biggest and best tech/infotainment available, 3 inch lift and 3 inch widened wheel base. Basically everything available , fully loaded. I guess GM charges more for the fancier interior on these Canyons? But not gonna lie, I actually like the ZR2 interior with the digital camo dash and old school camaro heater vents quite a bit better than these Canyons. Of course I'll be waiting till July and I just read an article about some more supply issues for the bed liner materials which could hold up all ZR2 builds even longer than that. But damn, all the better stuff for $3,500 less money than this Canyon you test drove here? It doesn't make any sense, and personally I'd rather just make an order and wait the extra month or two for a fully loaded ZR2.

I just looked on the chevy website and the ZR2 starts at $48,295. How the heck to you get such a good deal? Jealous!! Hope you can reply with some insight.

I say keep the tremor and keep pimping it out. I got some sweet RTR fender flares and front grille on my 2022 tremor lariat. Loving your new additions and for sure helping me do some of these upgrades.

@@dksgarage6061 yeah, might have to do a video this week with my current upgrades and an install of the RetraxONE XR Tonneau Cover and the flood lights you installed on the hood. goal is to then get a rack and hard shell tent from zero23 Tents.

Only thing I hate about the raptor is losing the towing capacity that the tremor has. (Also I personally think there will be a crazy markup on raptors)

Agreed. Allocations for the Raptor are 1 per dealer. The raptor is the only one that has a dedicated front Bumper in the next gen truck (but the tremor has it)

Ranger Raptor will have a $20K market adjustment easy

That gmc is nice I’m thinking about one or the ford, my wife has new terrain Denali very nice I have ram classic , but whold like this for my daily driver does it have heated cooled seats I don’t want sun roof?

Since ford and other dealers don’t get kept in check about price markup, I bet the raptor will take a year to get and have at minimum $5-10k over msrp

Ranger better looking outside with your set up! Looks aggressive. GMC is better at being more aggressive as “stock” and has a better interior. Think I’ll stick with the ranger for now! Great review!

Yeah the inside is where it's at though!! Leaving the dealership in my Tremor it felt more peppy than the larger/heavier feeling 400hp AT4

Get the AT4 I got one about three months ago and love it mine is a black one with 20"tires on it but great truck

How was the ride quality compared to the Tremor’s Fox suspension? I have a ‘21 AT4 and it can be pretty rough on roads with potholes.

Like butter. Potholes and bumps are absorbed so well by the tremor suspension.

I’m currently in a Ranger now as well. How would you compare the acceleration of this truck to the Ranger?

Ranger has more pep it feels initially. The AT4's power really comes on after a bit though. That may be cause the cylinder de-activation stuff!? Overall (I said it a lot in the video) the AT4 FEELS bigger. But as you see side by side my Tremor sits higher and looks bigger.

Einstein since the truck is brand new not supposed to stomp down hard on the gas pedal until the engine has several hundred miles of break in time.

I see Silverado's in the low 40's - mid 40's with either a double cab or a crew cab 4x4 in the custom and lt trim. Seems like much more truck for the money compared to the new Canyon and Colorado ... with not much loss in mpg !

I had a 2019 ranger XLT sport before getting my ranger tremor, what a difference in ride quality in the tremor with the better suspension. If you live where potholes and rougher roads are common as i do in the northeast, you really enjoy the better ride in the tremor. I do think the GMC has a much nicer interior, but i think the ranger is a better built truck overall. Another thought, they didn't produce and sell many Tremors and don't offer it anymore for 2024 so i believe it's going to hold its value. I wouldn't be so quick to trade it in or sell it, It's the next best thing to the ranger raptor which is much more expensive. Another note, i mostly drive around 40 mph in city driving and get an average of 21 mpg with the Tremor on the stock Grabber tires from the factory which i feel is pretty good for a truck. But when i do get on the highway, it gets up and moves quickly.

Still have yet to see a canyon or colorado on a lot.

Curious as to how tall you are? I am just under 6ft tall. Comfy enough?

Those are the Goodyear Duratracs. 285/70-17. They aren't loud at all

Gotta have skid plates for that package.

My concern with the Canyon is the software updates that cause the truck inoperable. Is this an ongoing issue?

That’s pricey and it doesn’t have the Bose sound system. I test drove a 2023 black AT4. Didn’t like it. The transmission shifted funny and the steering wheel was crooked, needed an alignment. Canyon and Colorado are notorious for breaking that aluminum drive shaft. You have to pay extra for a steel drive shaft. I ended up buying a 2023 ford ranger lariat tremor. $51k OTD. And it came with a steel drive shaft. I’m taking it to Mammoth this weekend for a weekend of fun. Keep your ranger. First year trucks have problems

Great video! I own a 2020 XLT Ranger with the Fx4 package & I will most likely be buying a new Canyon AT4. I want to wait a year or two & see if the new Canyons have any major reliability issues.

The GMC feels heavier...the Ranger is pretty peppy

For the tires portion - I think the tires are not impressive because they know most folks would rather put on their own preferred tires

Doesn't have LED's in the cabin, immediately posts the sticker price. Love it. GM cheaps out in the most bizarre ways. The AT4 should have the full gauge cluster as well. Most luxurious cabin of any midsize truck...but no LEDs and a cell phone size display

You promised to tell us about the audio system but you never did. How was it? The one I’m looking at doesn’t have the Bose so I’m curious if it’s passable.

I have the B&O system in my Ranger Tremor and I'd say the the AT4 non-Bose was just a slight bit under that. If I had to. Hold one it'd be with the Bose. But I'm no audiophile

Kept the Tremor for now. I will be on the lookout for a Red AT4, Sunroof, Bose & Trailer pkg. I am indifferent on cloth bs leather seats and don't want to pay for the bells and whistles the premium pkg costs

No. I kept the Tremor. It does everything I need and is setup Exactly how I want, plus I have it on a great interest rate. The AT4 is nice but I'm just not ready to switch up. Maybe next year.

100% accurate with the AT4 being a trail boss and Z71 mix. Best of both worlds in my mind

Honestly I wouldn't go with the Colorado unless you're talking about the ZR2 (even then I dunno) I'd say the better upgrade is the AT4 GMC.

I can't stand the new Ranger front end without the dedicated bumper. It looks like an SUV. The raptor on the other hand is definitely an option but it only tows 5500 pounds and is $10,000 more expensive than the AT4

@@dksgarage6061 I agree the new ranger front end looks bad, but the Ranger Raptor is good looking. I ordered a 2023 ZR2 for around $20 grand less than the Ranger Raptors will be. My ZR2 will have the same 430 torque as the Raptor and can tow 6000 pounds even with the impressive Multi-matic spool valve off-road suspension, which handles beautifully on road as well. I really don't understand why these Canyons are so much more expensive than the Colorado ZR2

@@gordmonteath6090 Yeah I'd just watched a video where the guy said The ZR2 could tow 7800 pounds then realized after I commented that the guy was obviously just getting the regular 2023 Colorado numbers mixed up with the ZR2. But I couldn't find this comment to edit it, which I'll do now. I've never towed anything in my life but spend a ton of time rallying down mangled logging roads at high speeds so I'll take the slightly compromised towing capacity in exchange for those sweet DSSV dampers.

Not only that but At4 ie newer and its refreshing so go Canyon you wont regret it . Yes maybe you will have some recall and stuff but thats parts of newer vehicle noway days .. toyota have some Ford ,dodge etc .. i order my self a 23 canyon Elevation because i wanted black interior can't wait to have mine

I hate that the Canyon has a 2.4 turbo. The Ranger a 2.3 turbo. And the Tacoma a 2.4 turbo. I prefer the 3.8 V6 Nissan Frontier. You’ll use same amount of gas towing. The cons of the Frontier is no telescopic steering, no electric power steering, and super rare to get a sunroof.

Keep the Tremor.

Tow rating and payload capacity are slightly higher on the Tremor than on the AT4. The Tremor is rated at 19/19 MPG while the AT4 is rated at 16/16 MPG from the 2.7L - I4. Because you tow and most of your miles are on blacktop, I would keep the Tremor.

All GM products miss the mark with 4X4s with that horrific G80 rear differential. It's the height of foolery they don't have a selectable rear locker.

I'm kinda in the same boat. I love the ZR2, but the towing capacity of the AT4 makes it a more practical buy. The new Ranger really didn't impress me as it seems all the work went into the top-of-the-line Raptor model. Then there is Toyota which just showed their new Tacoma, but what raises massive red flags is they are not talking about price at the press release. I have a feeling Toyota went over budget on these models with prices that will eclipse the Raptor. I think Toyota is wanting to hunt whales now, not the common buyer that got them in the top slot. GM might be the big winner this generation with practicality and lower prices.
