Christine was often overshadowed by Stevie Nicks, but Ms. McVie actually wrote or co-wrote half of Fleetwood Mac's greatest hits...and her beautiful singing voice was just as unique as Stevie's... Each band mate has their own style, but the way this group jelled...the good and bad times they shared...the emotional pain they endured...The music produced as a result cannot be matched, and will live forever...

I'll be honest. When I was younger and I heard the news about artists passing away, it hit me, but not nearly as much as it hits me these days. As you get older, you realize life is short and the artists you grew up with are passing and it makes you think about your own mortality. It makes it all the more sad. Fleetwood Mac's album repertoire over the years have some of the best music out there. She will be missed.

Songbird was always the last Fleetwood Mac encore, just Christine and her piano. Mick Fleetwood said it best (I'm paraphrasing from memory), "Chris would walk on stage, do Songbird and break every heart in the place". Truer words were never spoken. The voice of an angel. She had such inter confidence. As a founding member of Fleetwood Mac, she could have nixed bring in Stevie and Linsey. She was the lead singer of the group at that time. But she was confident enough, knowing her abilities and talent that she welcomed them with open arms. As a singer, writer and musician, Fleetwood Mac wouldn’t have been Fleetwood Mac without her. I must admit I overlooked McVie in my youth. Seeing them live I can tell you that I saw grown men in tears when Christian McVie sang Songbird. I made it a point to listen to all her songs after the concert. You Make Lovin Fun and Say That You Love Me have become 2 of my favorite FM songs. But I really like a lot of her songs. She's just as special, talented, and beatiful as Stevie Nicks but in a different way. She's just as important to FM as any other member. It hurt my heart to hear of her passing. 💔 She was almost like FMs secret weapon. Her songwriting, keys, and vocals were often understated. She was not the one demanding attention. She didn't need to be that to make an impact. She was special just being who she was...Fleetwood Macs Songbird.

I was fortunate enough to see her with Fleetwood Mac five or six times and always loved her breathy ethereal vocals. RIP sweet lady and thank you guys again for your thoughtfulness. I think she was great enough to be considered for Female Friday tomorrow as well. She gave us 50+ great years so she is worthy of back to back days.

I am so saddened by the loss of this genius musician. Amber, you mentioned her piano playing. Christine learned to play at the age of 4 and later became classically trained from the age of 11-14. She then started focusing on rock & roll instead. I cried yesterday when I heard about Christine. Now, watching this today has me crying again. I was so lucky to have seen FM in concert and listen to her sing this beautiful song. Her voice is so beautiful. Her and Stevie's voices compliment each others so perfectly. We are going to be losing all of these wonderful older legends! R.I.P Songbird Queen Christine

She was always my fave female singer in Fleetwood Mac, while Stevie got all the glory Christine was the heart of the band. You Make Loving Fun is my fave song of hers, but she had so many besides this one even. Hold Me, and Don't Stop, Oh Daddy are others with her on lead vocals. I'm sure I'm missing a bunch of others. OMG she died? How did I not know that? Tragic. I'm so glad I saw her live with Fleetwood Mac. She was really special.

This song (not a single) came out in 1977. It’s been a part of my life for almost as long as it’s been out. This passing hits particularly hard. She was such a bright and positive person. Even when Stevie and Lindsey were tearing each other new ones on Rumours, Christine kept things positive. Thanks again for honoring her music. :-)

I can't help sobbing listening to this because I have always loved it so much. The albums Fleetwood Mac and Rumors came out when I was in high school and were immediate favorites of all my friends. Christine not only is an amazing talent on the piano and is such a great singer, but she was perhaps the best composer in a band full of amazing composers. On Rumors alone she wrote Songbird, plus also Don't Stop and You Make Loving Fun. I am weeping for her loss now, but I am eternally grateful that her music was a part of my early life and that we will always have it to warm our souls. RIP Christine. You were loved by so many.
