I like that way better than the other splitter attachments I've seen on KZread. Of course experience helps too, your really good at that.

Absolutely awesome execution of that attachment. Been wanting to make one of these for my KX121-3. Getting tired of lifting and moving big rounds around manually for splitting. definitely a smarter and faster way.

I'm sure you'll be happy if you do build one.I find one of the big time savers is being able to shove the split wood into my shed.all i have to do is turn and pile it.The last couple of years I don't even put some of my wood in the shed;I just shove it in a pile and cover it up.My good hardwood goes in the shed and I leave my poplar outside and burn it in the spring and fall. Thanks for your comment.

I was really having a hard time telling if the video was sped up a little while you were splitting. It looks like it works great and you know how to make it dance!

No it wasn't sped up at all'.It was only poplar that I was splitting,so not too hard to split.

@@kenstaniforth7060 un fortunately theres not enough profit in firewood to make this affordable but if you have an excavator it's a good deal

Thanks for reply. I have a vertical splitter on a farm tractor 3ph that we lower for blocks then lift for standing. But I think it's time I put something on my backhoe. Do not have a thumb but I think a rigid 'finger' would work

Slick Rig. I have an 080 and have split small amounts of wood for the campfire by pulling the block to the blade and hooking the outside tooth of the dig bucket into it. Very slow. This is a much better way.

Great video ken! Can you try to split a 32 inches log for me ? I want to make a splitter like that for my 5 ton excavator and someone said to me that it will not work on log taller than 16-20 inches long. Have a great day !

Thanks Francis...I've never tried to split anything longer than 20 inches and I probably couldn't the way it's set up.If you want to split longer you'll have to design it that way...shouldn't be a problem if your hydraulics are strong enough.

It splits hard maple okay but I have to only use the tip of the knife to start the block then it gets easier as the block gets smaller. I have another video where I’m splitting maple.
