+Jake Gayler its less expansive this way, mini excavator use very little fuel compared to a tractor... and almost every farmer has a mini excavator and he wont get back pain.... you clearly never split wood before

+Charles Nadon your comment almost couldn't justify a response, but I cannot let you carry on in life being as ignorant as you just conveyed in your comment. First, as a farmer that lives in a house in Canada heated by a wood stove, I can assure you I have split more wood than you could possibly imagine. My wood splitter is a home built gas powered hydraulic ram with a sharp flat axe head on the end. It uses about 2 litres of gas per cord of firewood, and takes about 28 minutes to split one cord. I can also inform you that very few farmers have a mini excavator, in fact I have never met a single farmer that owns a mini excavator. This is because farmers have very little use for an underpowered overpriced city boy landscaping tool. I will however give you a breakdown of the costs of using the mini excavator wood splitter shown in this video: Capital investment = $100000 Cost of capital = interest rate + depreciation rate = 4% + 9% = 13% 13% of $100000 = $13000/year Cost of operation = labor costs + maintenance + diesel = $30000 + $800 + $1500 that ends up costing $45300 per year to convert unsplit wood into split wood. That doesn't seem very cheap to me.

Some timber is too tough to split by hand .Some logs to big to haul on a table. If there a mini digger there .Why not put a log splitter on it.

My 3.5tn Yanmar has a 25 liter tank and I can drive propably 15 hours with that 25 liters because full throttle is rarely needed.

why ya'll chop your wood so small.. ? i could fit 6-7 of those pieces in out wood stove.. youd think putting in a few lager pieces would be easier then 6-7 these little ones.

Id make one of these to split big 24"+ maple that are too heavy to lift on the table. Break them up one day then finish with a normal splitter the next. This is a waste of funds and time

HUH. If that's not slow, I don't know what is…..Now, if that was a 4,6, or 8 way splitter, and all the logs were lined up and stacked in the proper orientation, I bet that'd be better. As it is, I bet my wife could split wood faster.
