Coming from the military the fire brigade was the perfect jump ( and that goes for other emergency service)and that’s what I did, and it came down to basics and organisation…. Structure that the fire service provided to ex military like myself, still bull my shoes, stringent ironing and the obvious thrill of the job helps with like minded people, enjoyed this one 💪

ALL of us in the emergency services, and military are by definition doing tasks that have the potential to harm us, both physically and mentally. I find it madness (excuse the pun) that the public are surprised we are all broken to some extent, and I can fully understand James sentiments re incidents with family and close friends as I have done both. one concept that the public dont get is the people who we care for, when we work and live in that area, one day its someone we know, and that adds another level of stress, some of the stories i could tell after 25 years nursing 22 in the emergency unit. brilliant podcast gentlemen.
