Exactjy. Some gym bunny thinks 6 pack is required for selection. I remember a triathlete asking em about my all arms. And said that was easy. I told him. Take your lycra of. And your energy gel. Don’t sleep for36 hrs. Wet. Cold. Carrying injuries. Rashes. Blisters. Min food. And move Tactically. Then let’s talk. This guy has been through it all. And so he might have some demons which require self medication. He’s seen And done things that would make gyn bunnies wee their panties. Throbbers

You don't get in special forces if your a couch potato that's for sure. These chaps are on a different level fitness wise, only about 5% pass selection out of the best the British army has to offer.
Phil Campion’s sense of humour is absolutely infectious!

Interesting. I was physically abused by father (serious stuff). Failed 11+ (beating). Went to St. John’s College Southsea. Hated it. Joined the ATC, 1189Sqn. We wore the old WW2 battle dress, ammo boots, and greatcoat. Then joined Royal Hampshire Regt under Col Freemantle. Legend. COP and NIPG in 82. Loved it. Good luck to you Big Phil.
Phil is like my fantasy beer buddy I could listen to him for hours!
What a brilliant bloke, his way of talking and explaining his experiences makes me smile, he’s so positive always see a way out. Legend

I met Phil on a cruise a few years ago he did a very entertaining show and then later got to chat to him at the bar that day a really nice guy true soldier much respect 👍
Met Phil, really friendly and no ego. Cracking bloke. I have loads of respect.
Campion - a legend. Very humble guy and clearly hard as nails.
Fantastic to listen to some of his old stories. What a legend!

Excellent stuff. Much respect for the two of you. Keep 'em coming Bear 🙏
I could listen to this mans stories all day. Thank you for your service
I said this in another comment but imagine telling a story about how you threw a fridge at a pirate...No shit there I was, staring down a pirate after I just chucked a mini fridge at him full force.
What a nice chap Phil is . How he tells his past experiences is brilliant
I love listening to Big Phil, he talks a lot of sense. I remember his short videos on what to do if you find yourself in the midst of a terror attack back when it was a potential issue. Good sensible advice for keeping safe. The book is a great read too
Served with Phil in the Royal Hampshire Regiment late 80s early 90s. Never would have thought he would go on to do all he has done way back then when we were youngsters in the battalion.

This guy's been there and done it for real - His stories are gripping enough in their real form without any BS to make them more exciting...
Needed a kick and some motivation today and this did it, Thank you Bear. Prepared!
He sounds like a soldier's, soldier. You could take any soldier from Greece, the Romans, the Vikings, a man at arms on a medieval campaign and this is the person you would get. Really good. I fought pirates off a yacht in Papua New Guinea. We didn't have guns either. My dad, in his mid seventies was battering people with a length of wood and I was trying to bundle people over the side, shouting a lot helps. Getting the anchor up and running away helps even more. Happy days, in hindsight.

Big Phil! - what a fantastic, upbeat and colourful character. Honest to a fault, and always grounded - something he shares with most ex SF. I'd love to see Bear and Phil to do an expedition together... Please! My hat is off.
A true warrior , a gentleman and a hero ❤
I read Phil’s book on holiday a few years ago, great read! Really enjoyed this interview too, seems like a top bloke!
Brilliant , could listen to big Phil all day!
As others have said, pity this wasn't longer, Phil is such a great character! Had the pleasure of bumping into him a few times, watching Saints. One time, he turned up after K.O, straight from the pub. Within 2 mins he dropped his guts & cleared out a couple of rows in the Northam End 😄 Stewards thought there was some trouble, ran up but soon got wind of the cause 🤣

Got to love Big Phil, funny and down to earth with a larger than life personality, someone you would like by your side when the bullets are flying to keep your morale up, nothing seems to faze him. Heard the story when he was in an ambush and the bullets were flying and he gets his hexi stove out and brews up, classic.

Phil’s a top bloke. If you spend some time with him he will leave a lasting memory and if you get to know him better a good mate.
I had the honour and pleasure of doing an Army run Joint Service mountain adventurous training week up in Scotland near Fort William with Phil Campion many years ago. Me being a crab from the RAF, a boot neck from 45 Commando and a couple of Paras were on the course. A great guy and a lot of fun.

What a bloke! Many of my friends were in a children’s home, and not many of them are here anymore, due to the unfortunate paths they took. I’m guessing his YTS days must have been in the mid ‘80’s, for £26.25 a week,as I was on it too. So glad he joined the forces and pulled himself out of the hole he was heading for. He seems like a living legend like Billy Bingham, who came to our town and gave a talk about his life so far. Perhaps he should do a tour like Billy and talk about his days. I would go to hear him. He sounds a great character with some dark and light stories. All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧
If you haven't bought the book already it's a must, absolutely brilliant read!!!
My dad was in the 1st and 2nd Battalion Royal Hampshire Regiment joined 1933 done 20 years.
Good for you Phil. You looking good. See you again some time in the future no doubt. Stay safe. Great book too. :)
I read his book years ago, nice to hear him speak.
Love you phill still remember when you and Stuart through me over the wall in canterbury . Your a legend mate
Cycling proficiency is a great qualification, 3 parts, 100 points per part, I imagine Phil scored 300/300 & that makes him the best bicycling sniper in the whole SAS, Super Army Soldier.
What a man! And a great patriot to our beautiful country. 💪🏼🇬🇧
I've listened to Phil tell his story a dozen times and could listen to him a dozen more ❤

@D hahaha! Bear is the son of SIR Grylls (in a peado enquiry by the way) little bear was sent on all sorts of very expensive adventures as a kid with the duke of Edinburgh award scheme, then for a very short period was in the TA sas seeing absolutely zero action. Then daddy used his connections to get him a tv series that was just a load of camera angles and acting! Whatever you say about Phil he could literally not be more fake than “bear”
