Cracking comment about doing the tests after 10 day exercise. Most people don’t realise that’s how it was. 1990 Hardest fortnight of my life. But worth it at the end.

*PREPPER PRO TIP: NEVER do this so-called "one-handed" bowline in a work or emergency situation because there is a high risk of getting your hand trapped and injured. It's impractical and simply meant to show off a knot trick for entertainment purposes. Bear Grylls took 5 seconds and needed TWO hands to finish without trapping his hand. With all that said, there is a safer method that actually uses only one literal hand in the event your other hand/arm is injured.* *TRUE ONE-HANDED BOWLINE: After wrapping the rope around the load, or yourself, hold the working end ("tag end", "bitter end") with the rope running over the back of your thumb, down through your palm with the tip of the rope ending at base of your pinky finger. Now while holding the working end of the rope this way make a very loose slipknot by using your thumb, index finger and middle finger to grab the standing end and turn an overhand loop around these three fingers (like you're turning the key to the ignition on your car). Now these three fingers should be wrapped in the new loop. Using these three fingers, grab the closest part of the standing end again and pull the standing end through the loop into a bight. KEEP THIS SLIPKNOT VERY LOOSE! Do not cinch it up. Next, thread at least 6 inches of the tip of the working end, that is still being held by your ring finger and your pinky, through the bight. Finally, while still holding the tip of the working end, grab the standing end of the rope and pull it away from the knot and let the tip go only when a clean bowline begins to appear. Practice.* *I am able to make this knot with my eyes closed, with either my left or right hand within 8 SECONDS! I feel the extra 2 seconds is a fair trade to master a TRUE ONE-HANDED BOWLINE!*

Ridiculous boats. The wheels are very heavy and they do not last long in salt water. The whole boat is poor handling and over weight. And over priced. They did not and do not sell very well at all

I remember Cpl Heffield! He was our troop PTI (671 Trp 1994) and on Saturday mornings after a good Friday night out, looking bleary eyed, he'd ask us "you've got a choice today fellas - troop run or unarmed combat in the dojo?" Knowing full well what we would pick. Legend.
