Such a touching song. I cry every time I listen to it. I'll be 60 next year and I'm so aware of how time is passing right before my eyes. First it was watching my children grow and now my grandchildren are almost grown. I'm reminded of all the time I wasted on things that were not important in the end and I'm reminded to make the most of the time I have left with my family that means so very much to me. One of my favorite songs.

I cry every single time I listen to it and it takes me a while to stop and get out of my feelings! So much goes through my mind. It gets you thinking about how precious life is yet how short it is. 😭

I don't know their entire history or back story, but Finneas and Billie are the by product of what love and family and talent can look like. Their little family is such a beautiful example of how a family should treat each other and live one another.

@@resetedanchorpure i interpret it as anger that might be a result of some childhood trauma and frustration. Like abandonment, abuse or humiliation that might have taken a hold of your childhood. There’s so much built up anger that is justified. Like you are not wrong for feeling that anger but he’s saying “it’s not worth it” because you only have a lifetime. So free yourself from it. ❤️

can we just appreciate the fact all his songs have such a deep MEANING? what a legend, thumbs up for Finneas!!!

He is a real artist, he expresses his feelings and emotions into a song, and everyone can listen and feel it... Good job Finneas

the fact that this whole video is one continuous shot means so much. i’m not sure if that was the intent, yet it just shows the concept of time and how valuable it is. everything follows a sequence yet comes to an end quicker than expected.

My brother in law just had a heart transplant a couple weeks ago and listening to this song makes me realize that we never have enough time ❤️😞

The song hits hard on my heart it's so beautiful and it's so right in every word..

My teenage daughter said, "you're probably his oldest fan". Haha oh well, I am 40 and happy that I discovered your music a few months ago. And I am sure, I am not that old. Thanks for the beautiful music!

Nah, I’m 42! 😆 He also messaged me PERSONALLY when Billie wasn’t BILLIE! I had messaged him on messenger years ago asking “how and when to show up to their concert in a venue of 200 people, where to meet Billie as she would perhaps come off her tour bus. I had purchased tickets to their concert for my daughters 16th birthday surprise party. My daughter and Billie are the same age and two weeks apart. Finneas had messaged me back personally and did something even better! He gave us meet and greet passes to meet Billie! It was AMAZING and seeing my daughter open her gift was tear jerking! I’ll never forget that day! Also got to sit in the VIP section watching the show and opening with Finneas singing sitting right next to Maggie, Billies mom! We talked the whole time and got to take a picture with Maggie! 2018 was a good year for Billie, but we have been fans EVEN BEFORE Billie and finneas were huge!

That was the part that did it for me! That exact part! My daughter’s friend just lost her husband… and he was the same age my brother was when my brother passed away… really hit me hard! I didn’t even know who Finneas WAS until last night and this song just popped up in my feed! Helped me sort out so many of my feelings and emotions! Lovely lyrics… true to life! Every life is a gift! Every day we have is a beautiful gift! And so precious! I want to remember that and not waste any day, any minute and remember to do better at showing my love to my family members, every day, and not waste even 1 day!

Despite it all, this song helped me to fall asleep at night and live my life the best way I can. Cherish your loved ones guys. They won’t always be here.

Man, songs like this REALLY get the gears turning. Really make you think. If you're especially a person like me, someone that's tasted a lot of bitterness in life. It's really hard to try and let go of the past. And it's really coming to terms with the anger, resentment, and bitterness that's the hardest. The line "It’s not worth the anger you felt as a child." really hits home. Finn and I are the same age. I kinda envy people like him having a loving family. But, then again, it's not worth wasting your time being mad about the past. Only got one life. Got to move on. Not living in the past.

Last month, in July, I took a vacation trip that changed my life forever. It was the first time I left my country, and I visited London, which is a place I always dreamed of going. I went with my boyfriend, and there we got engaged. We enjoyed it as if we were living there, since he went to study too. But in the middle of the trip, I lost my grandmother. I had seen her a month before, but during the pandemic, she had a serious worsening of Alzheimer's and also a mild stroke, which made her gradually deteriorate over the last few years, without us being able to visit her properly (fuck covid). I always missed her, how she was when I was little, and our afternoon teas. Losing her being on another continent, far from my family, and with no way to go back to the wake (due to money and travel time too) ended me. I stayed practically the whole day in bed, and I have to say that I'm very lucky to have had so much support from my fiance and the friendships I've made just a week before. Over time, there I ended up distracting myself, but coming home and not being able to visit her has made me extremely sad. As much as she wasn't the same anymore, I still loved going to see her, and laughing at the repeated words, and showing her photos. I wish I'd had time to tell her I got engaged. Hearing this song now, especially the second verse, warmed my heart. Covid has already made me waste too much time, and I promised myself that I would not let that happen anymore, and I would enjoy the time I have with the ones I love. Thank you for this song, Finneas

listening to Finneas for the first time after watching Turning Red and I clicked on this expecting an upbeat pop track... didn't expect to cry from how beautiful these lyrics are. What a wonderful song with a great message!

I am shocked that i found that finneas is billie eilish's elder brother just 5 month ago but I've been listening to his music from last 3 years.

This song sounds like the soundtrack of a movie or film that would have touched your heart and your being so deeply, it would be impossible to forget. If anyone knows of Gregory Alan Isakov, this sound reminds me of his music, it's the kind of music you should listen to at least once in your lifetime, the kind of music that makes you glad to be alive, just to be able to experience that moment.✨

I needed this, I've been living my life just waiting for it to pass. Each day I'm just trying to survive. Searched it up right away after listening to it on the radio......

My.mom just passed away. She suffered greatly in the last years of her life. Massive headaches, neuropathy from the chemo, the list goes on. Im just now finding the time to listen to this before bed, before work. I don't really know what I'm supposed to do anymore. I don't really know what I'm supposed to believe in except for Love and the Kingdom of Heaven. For my Mom. For my family.

When I first heard that song, I was listening to the whole album while going home. The moment I heard the chorus of Only A Lifetime I stopped in the middle of the street and started crying. That period when the album was released was unbearably tough, my life was like hell, but I got through that with you, Finneas. Thank you so much for that album and this song specifically, I love you and I will never find any better words to say how much you and your music mean to me

Dear Finneas,I am listening to your music for 4years now. Your music means a lot to me in my life.I felt very conected to it from the very first day of listening. At first,it was hard to explain why but then as I held myself to it for longer time and I discoverd that everything in it maked sense to me in my life,beaty of life,the sadness,the pain,how everything blended in my mind and I also realised that your music makes me happier and more thoughtfull.
