You might not like my opinion but I’m just a very blunt person Finneas is amazing I will give him that he is absolutely incredible he can do it all and he is so unique and creative but he also was the lead singer of his own band that he wrote and produced all the music for and he just was not that popular because his voice is not this incredible unique outstanding crazy different voice and you can go back and look at the proof if you want to it is everywhere on the Internet his popularity for his own music didn’t start growing until he and his sister got signed even the music he has done with other artists has been incredible but he does not get the recognition he deserves for that work that he has done but when it comes to his voice people did not find it as good or unique back before they got signed as they do now and I’m sorry but his sister is a huge factor in why he finally has his own solo career and why he’s finally starting to become more popular in his solo career it’s not that he’s underrated it’s that his voice is very similar to numerous artists and a lot of them are not super famous either his lyrics on the other hand are extremely underrated his messages are always incredible his musicality his production is extremely unique but he’s getting the popularity he deserves for those things which is why he works with so many artists but people just don’t see it because they don’t recognize the people that cowrote something or produced something for you they look at the artist is performing it more than anything

Jokes aside, as someone who works in film, I appreciate all the little things he and the cameraman just went with during this and made it work. Second time he hits the glass it doesnt break how they expect so he hits it again, when he goes for the lock he meant to aim lower so he unlocks the top one instead then moves to the bottom one, keeps hitting the glass in the displays even when they dont break the first time, moves onto the second necklace when the first one catches on the display and he's unable to remove it, cuts his finger & shows it to camera w/o missing a beat... and the camera just follows. Cool to watch

The line “I tried saving the world and I got bored” was particularly powerful to me. As an individual part of the digital generation I think one of our biggest issues is apathy and it’s cause we have seen how effed up the world is and how polarizing it from a young age until we are just numb and apathetic to it all.

Agreed. I used to cry and be so depressed for days and even weeks everytime a mass shooting or something majorly fatal happened and I'd be watching all the news clips, surviour stories, reading all the hashtags and reading on every victim, but then I just got so dried out and had to stop because it just kept happening over and over again and by the time I'd finished mourning one incident, some other tragedy happened. Like it just got to the point where I had to unplug myself from that world coz I literally couldn't change anything - I was just draining myself for no reason.

The concept of this video is absolutly mind blowing. When he's breaking the glass he's actually breaking the silence by saying everything he's wanted to say also known as the truth. And the fact that's he's a robber, shows how society treats people who tell the truth. With pitty and calling the police. and in the end when he walks out the door, normally, he doesn't break anything. This shows that we're all human in the end

Don't wanna be a dick, but to me that's one of the least interesting lyrics in the song. It's a cliché, and it's not subtle at all. I just think there's far more unique lyrics which creatively allude to issues in society and expressions of the narrator's dissatisfaction with it.

That verse shouldn't be read alone imho. He talked about nothing you can say that will not be missunderstood, how he would want to tell people off like the famous Marie Antoinette myth of "let them eat cake". He didn't really believe humankind was God's mistake, it's just a snark of an individual tired of being held responsible for shit they don't have power to change, even with your privileges. I do want to see other musicians covering this tho, I like the idea, but it does miss a bit of the tired snark Daria Morgendorffer vibe

I read it as money takes away consequences. Apathy is so easy to fall into & we can so easily turn off from injustice because power & money tend to win. It’s sad & it’s honest. Edit * day later * I’ve had another thought. Maybe it’s meant to reveal that feeling of nothing being able to give pleasure or not being able to feel anything but flat when you are depressed.

Love the double whammy of the chorus where it points out the frustrating ridiculousness of all the shallow distracting things we turn to despite knowing the world is on fire and yet also pointing out the impossible pressure and judgement to be focusing on important issues and saving the world all the time which none of us can realistically do no matter how dire the situation.

Straight up one of the best contemporary songs I’ve ever heard. Relevant, production is insane as always, and the lyrics….!!! FINNEAS IS THE REAL DIAMOND in a sea of mediocre standard pop singers. I kind of love how no one knows how FU##king amazing he is, and his sister only proves that ten fold. He should continue making the true art for as he can. This song makes me feel a rush of serotonin every time I hear it.

~LYRICS~ [Verse 1] Bang, bang, knockin' on my door Do you have a dollar? Would you like to fund a war? What's your carbon footprint and could you be doing more? I tried saving the world, but then I got bored Ca-ching, ching, what you wanna do? Make a lot of money, buy a house in Malibu Show me if it's funny, if it's not, you don't need to I tried picking a cause, but I got confused [Chorus] How can you sing about love when the kids are all dying? How can you sing about drugs? Politicians are lying How can you sing about sex when the school is on lockdown, lockdown? Now, baby, maybe we're next Maybe we're next [Verse 2] So shut up, the internet is mad They say you're problematic and you better take it back There's nothing you can do that pеople won't misunderstand They won't feel any bеtter 'til you feel bad And good God, we never catch a break Whatever's on the news, the other side'll call it fake I wish I was the Queen, I'd tell 'em all to eat their cake Maybe humankind was just God's mistake [Chorus] How can you sing about love when the kids are all dying? How can you sing about drugs? Politicians are lying How can you sing about sex when the school is on lockdown, lockdown? Now, baby, maybe we're next Maybe we're next [Bridge] I know my pool is heated Business class is where I'm seated And I'm whiter than the ivory on these keys I think too much about myself Drink my wallet and drive my wealth But enough about me [Outro] Bang, bang, knockin' on my door Do you have a dollar? Would you like to fund a war? What's your carbon footprint and could you be doing more? I tried saving the world, but then I got bored

Gonna be quick and simple...I Love Finneas. I love that his music is so unique and expressive and honest. It really feels like walking through his head and just seeing and hearing the honest, raw inner workings of his mind and it's always perfect. This and The 90's has a similar energy where it's very honest and relevant and it's not what most people would want to talk about but he does it anyway. I literally cannot explain how good this is. He is also just beautiful...on a side note.

Finneas is such a good soul. The rasp and earthy tone he's got and the lyrics' meaning all corralate perfectly. There's been so many tragedies these past few years, it's too overwhelming to hear on the news every single day another horrifying murder or natural disaster that takes another one's precious life. I pray this stuff gets better, and I'm glad he's acknowledging all this.
