Stalingrad brought to rubble turned into a major advantage for the Russian sniping divisions. The rubble made it hard for the German Armoured divisions to advance, and for the Luftwaffe to make up proper targets from the sky (if all you see is rubble, it's like finding a needle in a haystack).

This was a Great movie. Sad that some KZreadrs have decided to nit pick it for accuracy..if you haven't read the true story of course you will fall for the nit picking. The makers did a great job...of course not every little aspect was true..it's a movie and they did a heck of a job portraying the horrors of the war and the inept leadership who would rather kill his own soldiers and citizens...much respect to the Russian's. They suffered unimaginable hardship n death! Yes, Krushev was a bafoon! Stalin..a ruthless dictator and on n on! It was a great movie..so what if it wasn't 💯 accurate..anyone who studies history of the World Wars know it was pure hell, as well as those who fought n died...adding a little fluff made it even more enjoyable!

It isn't strictly accurate, but I found the movie to really convey the desperate struggle against the Nazi juggernaut really well. The emotions it conveys really hit home give me a hint of what the average Soviet soldier most have felt.

Goverment orders that were deemed too rigid or excessive - typically (in those days) sent in through documents banded in a red ribbon or a "red-tape".. A country like USSR during such desperate times would probably have had many such red-tape cases which wouldn't just execute the official involved - they'd label his entire family as dishonored, strip them of wealth and rights - Better to take the bullet than the red-tape.

I would agree with the historical inaccuracy, though I think it conveys the what the average Soviet soldier felt at the time. But anti-communist? There's not terribly many pros to communism, unless you're among the Party Elite, so I'm not sure how they could be pro-communist without lying so hard as to be ridiculous.
