Finding Seashells at Alexandra Headland to Mooloolaba Beach

Ойын-сауық

I went down to this beach for the first time ever (I've driven past it a few times!) and it was pretty good! The beach itself is lovely, and the esplanade is doubly so. Still, the amount of seashells there wasn't as much as Point Cartwright... but I found some lovely ones regardless!
I would like to go again; next time I will wait for a lower tide (I might have better luck), and perhaps start at the Mooloolaba end; that was where I found the better shells!
Let me know which ones were your favourites ;D and if you enjoyed this and want to see more shelling videos, I'd appreciate a like, sub or a comment. Thanks for watching my shelling adventure, everyone!

It was a really nice day in the end :D I didn't know what I would find at this new beach but, looking back, it was actually a really lovely day with some really lovely shell finds! Thanks for always watching Gloria!

Hey Pam 👋🏻, I hope you had a fabulous time on that cruise ⛵🌊⛵! Maybe you picked up a souvenir or two from the places you stopped at? I'm happy you enjoyed the binge of videos 😊 I found some great shells last week 😀

@@SandCoffeeRocks I did have a good time! You would think down in the Caribbean you could pick up some pretties, but you aren’t allowed to collect. 😣 I did buy a pretty little carved wood box with an ocean scene. Hopefully when I go on another cruise in December to Key West I can buy some pretty shells. I want to get a big queen conk! 🤩🪸🤞🏼

@@pamdudley6153 Oh my gosh, a Carribbean trip sounds like a best trip!! I recon you must have had a super relaxing and enjoyable time! But dang, too bad about not being able to take the shells. We have similar laws here for marine parks and national parks; guess the shells are good for the ecosystem? Ohh I looked up Key West and daaang an island off the coast of Florida??? Looks like the perfect place for seashells! I'll probably forget when you go, but make sure you tell me all about it when it happens! You might even find your own Queen Conk without having to buy one! In a few weeks, I'm getting some seashells in the mail from an online marketplace called AliExpress (I will make a little video of the package opening)... The reason I mention it is because I saw Queen Conches for sale there: a listing for 20 centimetre shells for $60 AUD (about $40 USD), though I didn't buy it because I was mostly looking for cheaper cowries. No idea how much the shell would cost you in Florida, but it could be something to look into if you can't wait?... Though, there's nothing like getting a shell from the source, rather than a Chinese warehouse. Sorry, I have rambled on a bit 😂 Thanks again Pam 🥰

I love the cones and the finley lol . Stay safe and keep shelling. Hey can you do a video showing how the shells that were given to you that were sun bleached all turned out. I am curious to know.

Hi Anita 👋🏻🤗 Hehe, my Finley count is up to 12 these days; they’re one of the only beach “junk” items I keep! Oooh, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to show the sun bleached shells again. Actually, I haven’t done much with them since getting them, I really should finish cleaning the last of them and applying some baby oil. Most didn’t get any colour back (as expected for this kind of damage), but some do look a little nicer now! I probably would do this as a bonus video on my Facebook page… not sure when though, but if a you’re on Facebook, you can check out some behind-the-scenes bonuses that may or may not ever make it to KZread: facebook.com/SandCoffeeRocks

G'day Veronica 👋🏻🏖️ I do that for the first 5 seconds of the video 🤣 I want to keep the focus mostly on the shells, I suppose... I think there must be a lot of videos online of these beaches though; this is a tourist hot-spot that sees millions of people coming here every year from all over the world! For this video, search for Mooloolaba or Maroochydore 🏖️ Thanks for watching 🥰

It's nice to meet you, friend! It is so exciting to go sea-shell hunting. We have a lot of sand dollars here that I love. It's very fun to see another coast. Greetings from the redwood coast of Northern California!

It's lovely to meet you too~ Greetings back at you from the land Down Under. I love Neffy in your picture, btw! I bet you get some fantastic big sand dollars over there (the ones here are teeny tiny). California is west coast, right? Do you get any of those fantastic big Whelk shells that I secretly drool over, or are they an east coast thing?

G’day Amssix 👋🏻🐚 I have heard that it is possible to find washed up sharks teeth here at Mooloolaba, but I have never been so lucky. I have not heard of them washing up on other areas of the coast (but it might be possible) but just from what people have told me, I think Mooloolaba is your best bet. It’s definitely not a common thing to find, it would probably be rare to get one? Not sure. I’ve also heard that if you do find a shark tooth, you should not really mention it online if you do find one; supposedly the fisheries department can actually confiscate them? Not sure how true that is, but it’s certainly something I’ve heard along the grape vine. Thanks for watching 🥰

@@amssix4563 Thank you so, so much! This is one of my oldest adventures now, and my first time visiting that beach at the time, so I really appreciate the compliment :D If you ever see me shelling around the Sunshine Coast, be sure to say hello (though I usually have my head down in my own little world) I'd love to say g'day!

Hello, I have some of these seashells. Are you in Hawaii? I am a professional collector and I buy a lot of my seashells because I love them and owning something extraordinary made by animals. They are natures architecture.

Hi Trudy, thanks for watching! Hawaii is an amazing place for shelling, and I would love to go there someday but I'm actually in Australia. South east Queensland to be a little more precise; lots of great shells and great (hot) weather haha! I bet you have a fantastic collection! I also love that each shell is unique and different in it's own way. You know, I did actually buy some seashells online... from AliExpress (I'll get them in a few weeks) and I'll open them in a video to see if they are actually what I bought. Haha AliExpress is a bit notorious for bad buys, but I've never had any problems. Where do you usually get your shells from?
