Today, I’m taking you along as I find my new morning routine and share a glimpse into life on our farm. Each morning starts with getting our self-serve farmstand ready, which has become my daily joy. We stock it with seasonal delights like strawberry banana bread, cowboy candy, and honeysuckle syrup. It’s been thrilling to see how popular these items have become, especially after our grand opening where we sold out multiple times! I'll also introduce you to the latest addition to our homestead - a flock of adorable baby chicks. We’ve got a mix of breeds including leghorns, Bard Rock, silkies, and more. They’re settling into their new mobile coop, which lets them enjoy the fresh grass outside. In the garden, I’m sharing my watering strategies. We use an oscillating sprinkler system to ensure deep watering for strong roots. It's amazing how much difference a good watering schedule makes for healthy plants! Hello Rachel and Todd, Greetings from Australia! I love your new morning routine. Watching you inspires me to work in my garden. In Queensland we have problem possums and occasionally my husband relocates one. We always cover the trapped animal with a blanket on the cage, before it is relocated to its new area early in the morning so it has time to find a new home before night. It upset me to see the raccoon in a cage in the sun. I'm trusting all worked out OK.

I´m so glad you´re loving your new life, it looks so peaceful. When it comes to the Mulberry syrup, you could make a little sign explaining the numerous ways it can be used, the same way you described it in the video. That would help.

I think that’s a great idea. Or a printed flyer the customer could take with them. I bought sunchokes at a farmers market and they gave me a flyer with tips/tricks and a recipe. It was really helpful.

Huckleberry syrup sales idea...print a small sign describing it's uses to add to your display. You could also print free recipe cards of maybe a favorite cocktail using the syrup.

I do that too. I use a tuna fish can and when it’s full, I know it’s right to edge for sure.

We make a grape syrup from our mustang grapes. Grands love it on their pancakes. I also make a peach syrup from the skins and pits. Both are lovely in cocktails or tea, on ice cream or yogurt.

I love when you share your beautiful farm stand. That is a dream of mine too! My daughter and I love to bake bit I never thought of selling our sweet treats that way. I need to find out if I need a license to sell baked goods in Illinois.

Are your mulberries very sweet? This is the first year at my house that my mulberry trees have actually produced fruit? I don't think they are very sweet, but I have heard that they have some good nutritional value. Exit ramps, too funny! Your retirement morning looks glorious to me!! I enjoy any day I don't have to be at work and I can be home. The more I watch people going out and picking flowers to bring into their home, the more I know I need to up my flowers as well. I have just mostly been concentrating on the food. I will have blackberries for the first time this year. They are all over my bushes and I'm just waiting on them to ripen. Looking forward to going out and picking them, even on the mornings I have to come to work. I'm so happy for you.
