So happy everyone has been coping well with the heat wave! It's proof that those fans really make a huge difference and are worth the expense. Also, with the goats spending less time inside (when the weather is more preferrable for them) then that's less manure and urine to potentailly attract/breed more flies. I enjoyed this video so much - a little sad about the volunteer Tromboncino, but it'll break down and add the nutrients (temporarily used) back into the compost.

Beautiful garden tour. I have always loved the day in life, especially when it could be a danger to the animals and food. It's always good to get the way others handle, keeping everything alive. Nefarious beard, omgosh. I love it! I'm happy everything is doing great in this bad heat. The flowers are so beautiful as always. Thank you for bringing me along with you, Heather ❣️🙏🏼✨️

Loved the day in the life vlog today, Heather. Buster getting his treat time in, so sweet. Nice harvest from outside and inside the high tunnel and really loved the cut flowers, they are beautiful. Interesting that the tromboncino is having an issue, they didn't do that on your trellis? (Maybe some things in the compost bin are breaking down and getting 'hot'?) Goatie goats, really loved seeing how all of them are doing. Appreciate you sharing how you handle the heat with some of the animals like your rabbits, always good to learn tips for that. Hoping this summer won't be too crazy with the heat indexes! Thank you for sharing with us. 💚💚

One theory I have Is that undiluted whey may have gotten poured into the compost instead of taken to the chickens, but no the tromboncino I've grown before has never wilted THAT bad. There's wilting due to heat and then there's this... it's not good!

we built a pole barn with metal on the sides and roof, it is so hot that I tore pieces of the metal off of the side so there would be a bit of air flow. I have a barrel fan and two 24 inch barn fans that move the hot air. I just purchased the reflective bubble insulation to see if that helps, if not, I have already considered a run in shed for them. I consider it the most major fail of my little homestead.

One of the issues we have here is wind and driving rains. Anything with 3 sides and one open side will get rain inside and be cold during winter. It's a conundrum!! Maybe a barn made with cinderblocks on the south and west sides would be cooling/insulating, I do not know. We want to build a second barn one day and I'm trying to make sure it's as cool as possible!

There are trees they are just a hike. New trees are difficult because the goats will eat them, and our land is very squishy clay being old farm land. Not a lot to keep an established tree from blowing over. We would love to put a second barn out in the pond pasture!

What? The tractor has white plastic paneling to reflect the sunlight and the metal wiring is incredibly common for outdoor hutches and is not hot to the touch at all especially under the shade of the tractor roof. The rabbits in the shaded barn are worse off for sure and we do what we can with what we have, the barn fans were $500....
