When you have a promo/segment that's 15 minutes long without a physical altercation but pure tension, suspense, and great storytelling... You are delivering the best professional wrestling has to offer. Beautifully done by both MJF and William Regal. MJF is a generational talent.

It sorta did, you're right...but that's part of the reason it was a great segment. It had layers, it told a story (albeit long), and it had the fans changing their views. It wasn't so much a promo "battle," like we knew MJF and Punk would be...like, we all anticipated that would be a series of salvos back and forth, and that's what we got. This was much deeper, more emotional, more serious, and it took us on a journey. It was exceptional.

It's about time that MJF's story is being told. When AEW started, MJF was an asshole just to be an asshole. AEW needed heels and faces in 2019...MJF is a Goddamn superstar and he's one of the only ones so far that AEW has produced...and that makes CM Punk jealous.... He wanted to step in to a new company and be the top guy...7 years too late.

@@CodeBleu724 Punk elevated MJF, because of Punk, MJF was apart of the most anticipated AEW match ever. Because of Punk, MJF was one half of the best feud in AEW history. Regal has some of the better promos in the game. Underrated. Regal on HHH, Regal on Cesaro, Regal on Dean Ambrose. Legendary stuff. I still remember the feud he had with the then Ambrose when he described the man as someone that: if I took a man into the parking lot and lit him on fire, everyone would flee but Dean Ambrose would come warm his hands by the flames. I mean, what a freakin' line. What a way to put a guy over. Geez.

MJF tells a story of hardship through rejection and heartbreak, Regal tells a story of hardship through pain and experience. @@kibrisgazetesi6586 MJF's dynamic to CM Punk was that of a fan to his hero/idol who he hates due to some narrative where Punk turned his back on him. With Regal, it's that of a youg aspiring wrestler to a well respected senior/legend, seeking for his approval.

It's not even close. like most of my top 10 promos of all-time are MJF. This is a god tier bit of theater, like you feel for MJF, then you realize Regal is older and wiser, and MJF pussies out of getting a free shot because he knows Regal is right. This is Chef's Kiss level stuff, and TBH worth the price of Tony's dad's money on AEW on its own.
GOD this was amazing work. MJF cuts this ON FIRE promo, sets up Regal is the completely irredeemable villain for what he did to MJF. Nothing he could possibly say would excuse the way he shot down that 19 year old. Then regal takes a freaking MINUTE, explaining what HE went through learning the business at SIXteen, and that if all MJF needed to get the same benefit was one email from Regal than he's had it easy. BOOM. Table is flipped. Absolute legends.

I was legit wondering how Regal would even dare to fire back after MJF's promo. My jaw was on the floor at the end after his piece. Absolute masterclass.
REGAL smirking during this like wow " I created a monster"
This is a great writing piece, with a new villain meeting an old villain and learning something that he never thought of before.
Both showed their power. MJF was emotional, passionate and loud. He won the crowd over. Regal was calm and quiet with a smile on his face. He won them back. Both showed how you do a promo
MJF and William Regal's segment tonight is something that should be shown in promo class at wrestling schools. It was so good. MJF is so good already at the age of 26. This is honestly the greatest promo I've seen. A masterclass by Regal and dear lord MJF has come such a long way in such a short time. His mic skills are incredible, his promo game is near untouchable (sure, Regal, KO and some other names can be thrown in I'm sure) but this goes to show you don't need an altercation to keep attention for 15 minutes, just 2 extraordinary talents doing what they do best. Amazing segment! Edit: I love the smile on Regal's face during MJF's promo, like a proud dad. You knew he loved everything he was seeing and hearing from him and I need more of that in my life. I don’t like to prebook matches but at the end of the day it is a scripted show. Imagine the BCC slowly falls apart leading up to full gear and Regal hands Mjf the brass knuckles for him to get the win. This would be 7 years in the making. The person who drove MJF to get to where he is mentally and physically by pushing him to his full potential and finally MJF becomes the ultimate Villian and the ultimate protege of sir Regal. I feel like tony is gonna do this so I’m sry for the spoiler but that would be the perfect ending. Remember the quote- “ the greatest thing the devil ever pulled was convincing you he did not exist”. False sense of security for Jon Moxley thinking it would be a clean match. This would be perfect cause we don’t want moxley to loose clean to mjf so it’s perfect and realistically makes so much sense.

This angle was really brilliant! Pure promo between both men! MJF is the generational talent!
I rarely see a promo battle that ended in applause. The people were completely invested in this.
MJF is truly a generational talent.

This was MJFs modern day "Hard Times". Insanely relatable in regards to pushing for you dreams even when the man is throwing you aside. But he still did something unique at the same time. Really can't say anything even remotely negative about this. This is a touchdown, a four point play, a game winning overtime goal, and a grand slam all rolled into one.

One of the best promos between two greats. Regal should been a world champion.
Such a tremendous exchange! MJF's storytelling was superb, but Regal's retort was so on point! And Regal's devilish smirking while listening to Max explain his dreams nearly being killed by him was an excellent touch!
More and more you can see what a huge hire for AEW William Regal is...a classic "hold my beer" moment after MJF delivered an epic promo and Regal responded 👏
Had goosebumps listening to this last night. Max's part was legendary and Regal's part was somehow even more so. 10/10 promo. Take a bow, gents.

regal is simply insane, the most underrated wrestler ever, such a man
2:23 the look in Regal’s eyes…it must be surreal seeing some kid you saw at a tryout end up standing in front of you as one of the best in ring performers (and top guys) of the new generation. He knows how good MJF is, and he knows how good he can be. Must see a bit of himself in there tbh
Credit to MJF, he is incredible on the mic. Regal delivered his part perfectly, that gave me goosebumps.
I don't understand how MJF's promo's get better and better. I was literally glued to the screen for this, he really is a generational talent. Not to mention... William regal absolutely smashed it!!
Wow. This was epic. MJF and Regal delivered one of the best promos in a very long time. Kudos
