Great video! Very innovative and lots of useful information. Was just wondering how did you get that Rubio Monocoat + finish? Its looks gorgeous and from the teest its seems very durable as well. How many coat of Rubio did you use, and how many of the ceramic? Did you sand in between? Would truly appreciate some feedback. Got yourself a subscriber

I typically purchase the Rubio Monocoat Pure from Amazon: amzn.to/3iTSNnG . This is a very durable finish on its own. The ceramics do offer another layer of protection against scratches, oils and chemical cleaners. I only applied 1 coat of Rubio to these samples using a standard white buffing pad. After letting the Rubio Cure for 4 days I applied just 1 coat of Blackforest Diamond Base Coat and the next day I applied 1 coat of the Blackforest Top Coat. The base coat and top coat work together and come as a kit which includes a microfiber towel and applicator pad.

How does the ceramics compare to other finishes such as poly?

  • @BenVanKirk

Poly has more of a film look and feel to it. The ceramics seems to be harder, more resistant to scratches, easier to touch up if damaged and still feels natural.

Dang, flaming hot mountain dew. I came here for the woodworking and left looking for soda!

Ok that is really funny! If you were around, I would have given you the entire case of that Flaming Hot Mt. Dew. It sat in my fridge for months and we couldn't give it away. Thanks for watching.

The one I'd be interested to see is a hot mug of coffee with a little spilled over the side, left sat until it's cold. That would be the gold standard.

That is a great idea. I may do more test like these in the future with the new N3 and would try the hot mug if I do.

Your microphone is hot and overdriven in the second half of the video, too much gain on the input probably.

I know... that was my first time using a lav mic and it was cheap and went into the trash soon after! LOL
