I just bought a $79 DeWalt Orbital that has been absolutely brilliant! I did have to find the right fitting for for my DeWalt Shop-Vac (baffling that two DeWalt products don’t fit) because it spewed dust from the sides of the motor. As soon as I fixed the dust extraction issue I’ve been a happy camper. Personally I think one should invest more in better sandpaper. I won’t spend $600 on Mirka sander but I will absolutely buy a $40 box of Mirka Abranet sandpaper. If you want your epoxy to be smooth and free of pigtails/imperfections you need this product! 💪🏻
That's a beautiful moo - stash sir, just glorious. I've used your ceramics and I am really happy with it, definitely get your money's worth out of a small bottle! Can't wait to get your oil, I know it won't disappoint!

Where and how do you store the table when it's drying for a week. Do you have problems with dust accumulating on the table. If you cover it, does it take longer to dry?
@BlackForestWoodCo
2 жыл бұрын
We have a finishing area upstairs, which is where we filmed this and we just let all our tables dry there, it's a little less dusty up there compared to downstairs but still gets a decent amount of dust and the tables cure fine with it, we don't tend to cover them because we don't want to scratch the finish while it's curing

Hey Concrete Alchemist- Were you happy with the shine of the product? I’m looking to get a glassy sheen on my epoxy River tables - I’m looking fwd to using the BF Ceramics product. Would you describe the finished surface of your table as having a satin sheen? Did it need more than one application?
So far I have poured 2 flood coats on 4 River tables .sanding to 400 in between coats. The final is sanded to 2000 then I polish w/ machine polish, then Armourall ceramic car polish and it shines up like glass. My next project will have exposed red cedar and epoxy. Good how to video. Thanks. Oh ya I will be using your ceramic coating on it.

No key words this week? Congrats on the release of the oils, are you still working on your own line of pigments as well? What an awesome table. The finish products you've developed look to be something else to add a bit more pride into all of the tables you build. The Finishing process tutorial certainly makes it look like it's not too difficult with the right tools and product. Congratulations again on another Black Forest Wood Co table. My question, will these oils be available to ship to Australia?

What steps would you recommend to freshen up a walnut table top previously finished with Rubio Monocoat? It’s looking a little dull and I was set to do a coat of Renew, but I think the ceramics would be better.
The table looks awesome, the finishing product's are doing a great job. There does seem to be an awful lot of work to get the finish on and even. The buffing up also takes a lot of work. Can I ask why that final finish is called ceramic, to me ceramic is something made of clay and fired in a kiln! Obviously on a smaller table with no epoxy the process will be a lot quicker. So finally, this product is what, a better or more advanced finish than Osmo? Cheers, thanks for posting, will check out the website. Michael.
That beard transition throughout the video tho. I love it
How much of the blue dye did you use per liter to get the semi-translucent look in this table? It is beautiful!!!
Hey Dylan, I’m excited to try your finish oil out, loved the look on this table. Any chance you can explain the differences between the new Black Forest finish vs Osmo or Rubio? Not expecting a chemical composition breakdown, but more just the advantages of it over the others and what we can expect from it over the others? Appreciate any feedback you are willing to share, thank you in advance.

Hey Grant, the biggest differences are probably that Black Forest Finishes is more scratch-resistant and water-resistant
Am making a two by three foot table about knee high with half a dozen small burl slabs to fit, would it look okay with border around table
Can your oil be used for Rosewood? I have rosewood epoxy table, need to refinish it. Tried Rubiomonocot but the wood is get very darker and turning black. Please advice. Thanks
What’s the best cleaner to use to maintain these tables? And do you have to refinish them every time you clean them?
Hi black forest wood Just did my first and second epoxy resin pour, the first was a colour pencil stool table were pencil parts floated in resin. Second had a hole in base so half bath water ran out, lucky spot this got it outside but lost half the mix, solvaging it even now with both
Very beautiful! Do you ship to Belgium?
This looks great! Do you recommend the black forest ceramic for countertop surfaces? I am particularly wondering about two things: First, is it a food-safe finish suited for dining tables, countertops etc? Second, is it heat resistance? Rubio monocoat is considered heat-resistant but clients still get burn marks from hot pans etc. How does the ceramic coating fare with heat? thanks!
What kind of spray cleaner do you give the clients you mentioned you give them a maintenance kit?
Hey 👋 Doesn't the scotch bride scratches the epoxy? I have done this 2-3 times on an epoxy surface which was sanded to 2000 and i got a lot of swirls from the scotch bride. Used the white scotch bride from 3m. Is this normal or is my epoxy brand garbage?
Hey Dylan, Great video. Thanks for the detail. One item that I either missed or it wasn't included is the bottom of the table. I assume that you put the same oil based coating on the bottom but where does that fall in the sequence of work? Do you do the bottom first and let it cure for 24 hours and then flip to focus on the top? Thanks in advance.
@BlackForestWoodCo
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Steve, you're right we just use the same oil and we do the bottom first then we do the top after the bottom is cured!
How do these compare to auto ceramic coatings? Can you substitute one for the other? What percent solids are these?
beautiful! guys please how do yo deal with warping the wood? how do you make sure that that large piece of wood will not warp after time? and what would you do if it warp and crack? thanks for your videos :)
What is the turn around time to be shipped now for your ceramic coating kit ? Thanks

Hello Dylan, this table looks fantastic! I'm a very beginner woodworker and I'm hoping if you can help me with a problem that I am stuck on using this finish? I am applying this on a piece of none stained maple and it turned out quite blotchy. My process is sand from 120-150-220-raise grain-320, apply the finish with a lint free rag, buff it out on a none-abrasive white pad with an orbital sander after 5 minutes of waiting. I heard that maple can be hard to deal with, and one solution is to apply a coat of shellac to seal the wood first then apply the finishes, could that work? Any help would be appreciated!
Are your furniture oil and ceramic coating food safe? Love your products, I order them although I'm all the way across the continent in Georgia, US! Thanks!
Awesome table! what is the moisture% of the wood you work with? and do you ever get epoxy shrinkage in your cracks/defects after time?
@BlackForestWoodCo
2 жыл бұрын
We make sure our wood is down to at least 7%. We have never had any issues with epoxy shrinkage!
it looked to me like when you scuffed the first coat with the grey pad, that you didnt scuff the large epoxy area. is this correct? if so, why not?
When applying the first coat should I do the bottom and the front and then wait 24 hours and put a second coat on both? Or should I put 1st coat on the bottom wait 24 hours and then flip it to the front and then do the 1st coat on that then?
The finish looks awesome! What finish did you do to the underneath?
@BlackForestWoodCo

Same as the top! Thanks Dennis!
Fab finish on that table! But what’s the grit rating of that ‘tache?
I'm wondering about repairing a surface with the ceramic coating. A big selling point of Osmo or Rubio is that scratch or stain repair is pretty simple. Will the ceramic coating complicate the process? Does the coating have to be removed somehow to make a repair?
What finnish did you use for outdoor project
So what is it, oxygen or temperature or evaporation or ambient moisture or time and several of these factors that cures the base coat?
I just bought the ceramic kit to finish off the top of my L-shaped desk build that I’m working on. Unfortunately, the wood that I’m using (was given to me for free) is cedar and I know it’s too soft to use as a desktop. My theory was that using the ceramic kit would help protect the wood from scratches and dings. My questions for y’all are: Can I apply the ceramic coats directly to the sanded wood? Or does it need to be sealed first with an oil or laquer? And would the ceramic coat still stick if I sand above 320? like 600-800?
Is this oil food safe when cured? For use on charcuterie boards?
Looks great. How do you finish the bottom of the table tho? What grit do you sand that and what products do you use there?
@BlackForestWoodCo

We do the same to the bottom as we do to the top!
How is this material different from something like tung oil or even Watco?
I started using Black Forest furniture oil. I’ve previously used Osmo for years. I applied the oil very sparingly indeed. Way less than Osmo. And applied with a RO sander. The issue I have is that it doesn’t seem to matter how much I buff with a white pad it stays very tacky even days later. And not shiny like your table. What could I be doing wrong please?
which brand is the machine you are using to polish the surface? link?

Why would you invent an inferior more difficult and expensive than osmo or simple finish or the 10 others like it.
