A neurosurgeon was building a house in my town, and total cost of cabinets were $250k. This was kitchen(S), bar, and all Bathrooms. They were all matching. Home builder said the couple came in from vacation and all the cabinets hd just been set. The wife walks in and starts crying because she hated them. Mind you, she picked them out. Doc said to the home builder, looks like you just got a nice set of cabinets for your home sir! Take them all out and replace them. That was mid 90’s. Can you imagine the cost today? The house looked like a castle with huge, stacked Brazilian Walnut crown molding. It was probably 16”. I walked thru while they were doing it and that was a site to see.

I'm sure those snap connectors are good, but I've had to fix a few (different brands) that go dry after a few years and don't allow the full voltage through so you get dim leds. I always solder them to fix as that lasts much better. I'll check the COB ones out.

hey about the epoxy not binding to wood so well, I work in boat building and basically every wooden boat there is is fully glued with epoxy and if you do it right the wood will break before the bond does, so you might wanna look into that a bit more :) Awesome project!!
It's one thing to take measurements and an idea for a project that size; it's another to take it back to the shop and create it, take the product back to the home and install it, and have turn out perfectly. There is professional quality, and then there is "master" quality work. Black Forest creates master quality every time. Well done.

Unbelievable work ! Love the videos and especially these types of larger non table projects (even though I love the tables as well) ! With vinyl; I have had some success using a roller; either a dowel or PVC pipe or similar ! Once you initially stick the vinyl in place; you then use the roller immediately behind the vinyl as you roll it out ! It keeps tension on the vinyl and reduces a lot of the wrinkles ! Also; the shorter you keep the length of vinyl as you roll it out the better; if all that makes sense ??? lol

Amazing job guys, looks great. I was 37 years on the job building custom homes and had the same customers for a very long time, anyways my point is there was in some instances we'd go back and give kitchen cabinets a refresh, new doors and hardware and vinyl surfaces on the inside. We always applied it with a spray of Windex first then apply vinyl film and squeeze out bubbles with a plastic body fill spreaders....it's the same technique used to install car tint.
For the vinyl, hire a window tint guy next time.... fantastic work and video!

Amazing craftsmanship as always! If I win the lottery I’m calling you 😂 I can’t believe I’m offering some of the best craftsmen in the world advice, but about the soldering, you want to have good flow between the two pieces being soldered together. And you need heat to get that. Always heat the wire then add the solder it so it flows up the threads, same for the pad. This is called tinning, it makes joining easier. Once both sides ate tinned just hold them together with the iron until the solder flows again and you’re good. Dipping the wire into solder on the end of the iron doesn’t get the wire hot and you end up with a weak joint. Didn’t see the process of joining the two ends so hopefully it’s strong!
SICK ! THE KITCHEN COST MORE THEN MY HOUSE

This is INSANNNNNELY gorgeous!!!! Great job!!!!! I was going to suggest pushing air bubbles out of vinyl with the edge of a credit card and a straight pin to pop stubborn bubbles, but the numerous suggestions of a squeegee and soap sounds like they might even be more effective. The credit card and pin will get you a long ways towards smooth. 💖

You asked about techniques for installing the white vinyl film. For large jobs like this, it is best to use a film that has a structured / channeled adhesive on the backside. The channels act as an air bleed, which helps tremendously in avoiding wrinkles. Because the structured adhesive is fairly expensive, some prefer to initially spray the substrate surface with soapy water, which keeps the adhesive from immediately sealing. A squeegee is used to eliminate the water from behind the vinyl film. While the soapy water process works for many applications, your kitchen might not be the best application as you need access to the film to continue to remove the water as it gets squeezed out as the adhesive adheres to the substrate. Great couple of videos about the house in NV.

Thank you Josie! We’ve actually been talking about doing a video like that! Letting my dad tell his story of how he started the business.
When you solder, heat up the copper wire with the solder iron first. Don’t put the solder wire on the solder iron. Instead, put it on the heated copper wire that you hold against the solder iron. Heated copper wire will absorb and distribute solder wire evenly and will make for cleaner connections. The way you were doing it must have been a bit messy with excess chunks. Keeping the copper wire well heated is key. Great job on the whole project. Looks amazing!
Ive been designing high end commercial and residential interiors for more than 2 decades and I'd like to say - nice job it looks great. Having designed many back lighted features my only suggestion is that you update your knowledge of new LED lighting products, there are many peel and stick and laser etched back light surfaces available now that are reasonabley priced and will step up your lighting game in a big way.
