Instead of replacing that center console piece with all the holes, why not just remove the upholstery (leather?), bondo the unwanted holes, and have it reupholstered over top? Probably much cheaper than finding a used piece that is 30-40 years old and looks it.

I agree, depending how that panel was made, it could be an easy fix to just put another layer of material on top where the holes are cut and then redo the upholstery. Or if it's not too complicated piece of sheet metal, or something similar, it could be made with just hand tools and then upholstered to look stock. While the cars get called supercars and exotics, they're really just simple engineering when you look back how they were made.

I can send you pics and a parts list if you want it. Also, make sure you have 3 people to put that deck lid back on. If it's out a half-inch the top corners can interfere and damage the roof!

@@charlespletzke8311 Yeah the blu tooth would be "slick" but if you want cheap and cheerful an on off switch and a headphone plug running to the amp would suffice. The factory radio died in my F150 and even at the wreckers they wanted $120 for one so I was thinking of that....but ended up buying a JVC double din for $69 with $12 for the adapter plug so I threw that in instead. The cheapest "decent" amp I could find was over $100.00.

If this automobile is still around, Wizard or Mike should fabricate a bracket and mount the boxes to the bracket in the engine bay. The back of replacement semi truck convex mirrors (over the passenger door ones) are cheap, come in stainless, come with a bracket (usually adjustable) and a good trick is to piggy back off a stud/nut in the engine bay to mount it to. Just take out the convex glass and throw it in the garbage, use the rest of it as a bracket.

When you are getting close to carburetor balance try listening to the intake air with a thin hose (sprinkler hose is good). Then you will be able to get it perfect. The gauge is not nearly as “fine calibrated” as your ears.

He has a long way to go before it's even close. Made me cringe. Yes the old faithful method used by Iain Tyrrell is the way to do it properly, thats how I learned to do it on Aston Martin Triple SUs and Webers, E types, Lotus twin cams and Alfa Romeo etc back in the day, but that one sounds like there are other issues with the carbs anyway. Idle circuit and float levels for a start. Reving it up like that to make it sound good was hilarious. Especially when he said afterwards that it needed to be warmed up first.

You might consider getting a 3d printer for the shop if you are constantly working on older cars and such. To 3D print small parts etc . . Also - there are services that will print whatever file you send them - in a hardened composite plastic - AND some of the file printing shops will print a semi powdered part out of metal which they bake and then it becomes solid metal.
