Finally! Accurate RV Tank Sensors!

We head back under the camper to add a Mopeka tank sensor to the gray tank. While under there we attempt to troubleshoot a tight gray tank dump valve.

Was at show yesterday. Wish we were able to have gone today and say hi, but we live in South Florida. The new Cirrus 920 is on display 👍.

I'm in the process of adding a portable solar panel port. I learned that it's best to match the voltage of the portable to any existing panels on your roof unless you use a separate controller for each.

Nicely done, even with a little trial and error, nice improvement. I would suggest a set of knee pads even if only used annually, will be a real asset to you if your knees are like mine! Carey On!

Before you replace that cable, see if you can disconnect the handle end and elevate the cable assembly higher than the valve and spray wd40 in the end every 15 min or so and see if it works itself down the sheath. Just something to try before throwing parts at it.

Great information guys. Don't be too hard on yourself Dave. When learning about these new projects, "little detours" happen. They are only mistakes if they are not rectified. You guys always follow through and that helps follow travelers as well. I do hope your families in Oregon and Montana got through this cold stretch safely? We had, but a few really cold days (-20's and colder). Once the temperatures got above 0 F, it was like a heat wave. My catarct surgeries were a great succes! It's like someone cleaned Vaseline off my eyeballs. Everything is so clear now. Safe travels my friends. Carey On!

A suggestion would be to install an electric dump valve on your black tank. A compact electric valve would eliminate the long cable problem.

I replaced my black tank cable which turned out to be the rubber seal had twisted on the gate valve causing it to bind up. My replacement valve which had a long cable said I could make a 90degree curve over like the distance of a foot. Yours definitely looks like it has too sharp of a curve.

I think so too. Plus there are two curves making it an s shape.

Time to label the handles. I did it with a label maker and it helped during services. Maybe drain the tank and you have to reset the sensors to "Zero".

If you learn something was it really a mistake? I see it as a lesson. However you do scare me being under the camper without support besides those wobbly legs.

Hi Guys, When I did my gray tank sensor, I had to put in the app. how many inches high my tank was. Did you notice that on yours? Just an fyi. Take care.

Did you set your tank height in the Mopeka App settings? You will not get accurate percentage readings if you didn't.

Is there the ability to calibrate the sensors. So if the tank is actually empty, reset the reading to zero and if it’s 100% reset the reading to full? I can do that on my sprinkler system which isn’t quite the same but perhaps there is the same functionality…

Turns out we didn’t realize that in the app settings you need to type in the correct height of each tank. We’ll do an update after a bit of use.
