What most people don’t realize about Donte is how often in Carolina he was covering the number 1 receiver. As a number 2 cornerback he complements JPJ so well. He’s really fast and has legitimate ball hawking ability and excels at jumping routes with great acceleration and recognition. He’s much better than Levi due to Levi’s physical limitations due to having no long speed and poor acceleration despite Levi’s high IQ.

this feels like a stop gap move that will allow Khan to take or pass a CB depending on how the board falls... seems like he is a high end cb3 or low end cb2.. does that sound about right?

Just be a solid CB2 like Steven Nelson was. I am concerned much less about Interceptions and splash than I am getting off the field on those 3rd and longs which the Steelers have been giving up on the regular since Joe Haden left. Those plays are backbreakers on a tired defense that has already been on the field for too long because the Offense cant sustain drives.

I think that he can be a 4 INT and 12 PBU kinda guy. In situations where the opposing team has a fast star WR (1 or 2), He will have Minkah behind him making plays.. which could force QBs into making more mistakes.. I still think we could get a CB in round 1, especially if one of the 2 Bama Corners are available

Fits perfectly in our system , a lil undersized for our liking of a Pittsburgh corner type but this dude is a playmaker! I see why they went and traded for him because we lacked speed. His zone coverage is gonna be his go to. If we had him at slot he would probably have the best season of his career also I wanna see how he tackles because he would be perfect in that Mike Hilton role especially running a 4.3👀

Peterson was always an elite cover man. So much so that we never paid much attention to his tackling or his small size during his Arizona days. Now that he’s lost a step, the deficiencies become apparent. Wallace has past injuries, lacked the physicality of JPJ and the field IQ that PP had. Hopefully Jackson fills the loss of those guys. Be even better if he’s as good a CB as Diontae Johnson was a WR. I’m still not convinced this was a good trade (letting go of the top performing receiver and best route runner on the team)

I was initially excited about acquiring Donte Jackson but after peeling back the onion my feelings have changed. His pro football focus score is not that good and is barely higher than Levi Wallace and Patrick Peterson which isn't saying much. He also has lost alot of his speed which was his best attribute. I just feel when it comes to the corner position the Steelers tend to use a plug the hole mentality as opposed to a fix the hole mentality. With that said Im not too sure how effective this bandaid solution will be. We shall see. I just feel there were much better options out there but oh well it is what is.
