DAMN Ben looks young. I remember watching this game live and it was possibly just as sweet as both Superbowls we won in the Big Ben era. I remember being with several friends and having beers, and by the end of the night we were SCREAMING at the TV ripping apart Tom Brady and just laughing and having a blast. Every time Brady would get sacked or pressured they would cut the cameras to his face and he was visibly shaken and upset... and we loved every second of it. The Pats were the "big bad Boogyman" back then and to end their winning streak was just magnificent. They would come back and demolish us for the AFC game, but we got right back up after a 15-1 season and won the next Superbowl. So all was well in Blitzburgh from 2004-2006

This game and the next game destroying the Iggles - absolutely dismantling the two Super Bowl teams. Best Stillers team not to win a SB, alongside 1976 (although in fairness the injuries to Bradshaw, Franco and Bleier had more to do with that AFCCG loss).

for ben to start his career with 14 straight wins, including his playoff debut against the jets, is an unbreakable record. yeah he had a stout defense and a fantastic run game, but winning 14 straight is very difficult, let alone for a rookie QB that wasn’t even the week 1 starter. that record will never be broken, and i’m not sure if any other rookie QB will come close ever again.

In this game, the Patriots were missing eventual SB MVP WR Deion Branch, 1600-yd RB Corey Dillon, starting CB Ty Poole, and then lost future HoF CB Ty Law in the first quarter (this was his last game as a Patriot) - I’ve long said the 2004 Patriots were a superior overall team to the 16-0 2007 team, they had one of the most impressive playoff runs of all time, and without the injuries in this Steelers game the 04 team likely goes 16-0 as well (their only other loss in 04 besides this one was the “Night that courage wore orange” in Miami against the 2-11 Dolphins, which I have to feel the Patriots win if they came in at 13-0)

3 of the 4 best teams in the nfl were Steelers, Colts and Pats who of course went to 10 superbowls from 2001-2011. Maybe then they wouldn't have to have an unreasonable number of games necessitating 14+ point fourth quarters to even keep a game competitive, or just barely win by one score.

I'm still shocked that the Steelers were beaten by the Patriots in the playoffs. Because they shouldn't have even _made_ it that far. HOW did the Jets manage to blow the divisional playoff game? They had two chances to win it in the last six minutes, and blew two field goal attempts in a row. I was a serious Steelers fan back then, but I'm still amazed we even got to the AFC Championship. Ben the prodigy disappeared and Ben the rookie took over once the playoffs started.
